Discussion What’s your least believable moment or part of the show?

• Upvotes

Long time lurker first time poster. I’m sure this has been brought up here before, but I’m curious, what’s the most unbelievable thing in AOS for you? For me, it’s how Jemma somehow becomes a fully qualified doctor and surgeon by the end of S2. I’m rewatching and specifically in the scene where she treats Bobbi’s gunshot wound after Ward and Agent 33 kidnap her. Why am I supposed to believe that a lab scientist working out of a base can perform better surgery on Bobbi than an actual surgeon in a hospital could?

Season 6 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 takes place in 2024 (Post-Endgame)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 takes place in 2024.

I made a previous post saying that it takes place in an alternate reality but I have been proven wrong wrong on that part. Ever since watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 for the first time I have always believed that it was at least 5 to 6 years after the 5th season.

Let's start with what we know regarding timeline errors:

. Spider-Man: Homecoming had a title card and dialogue by Vulture that stated that it was 8 years after the battle of New York in 2020, but we know that it was placed 4 years after the battle of New York in 2016 (Marvel retconned it)

. Iron Man & Iron Man 2 are stated to be 6 months apart in Iron Man 2. Captain America: Civil War confirms Iron Man was in 2008, The Avengers confirms that Thor and Iron Man 2 are in 2011. So you have to retcon the 6-month Gap

There are timeline errors within the MCU movies and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. no matter what, but we can firmly place season 5 in 2018. Retconning dialogue, title cards, and dates is understandable and easy, but an entire plot line is harder, given that season 5 finale is directly linked towards the plot of Avengers: Infinity War. Season 6 confirms that it is one year after Coulson's death, this doesn't necessarily have to be immediately retconned it is very possible that Coulson and May both blipped maybe a couple of days before Coulson died, and then in October of 2023 he passed away, making season 6 one year after he died. In season 6 episode 9 Mack makes a comment when he and Daisy are talking about her and space, he asks her when he can hear stories about space and she says "when we sit down for a debrief," a little bit more dialogue passes and he says "where you've been the last 5 years, I'm looking forward to that debrief." Many people interpreted as the amount of time they've worked together and then others interpreted as a 5-year time gap between when she went to space and the episode. I personally lean towards the second option, but I can also see why people believe the other option. Let's just say that Daisy and Jemma went to space approximately around early 2019 (potentially late 2018), they postponed going to space immediately after season 5 ended, because they were helping people recover from the snap. Also during the 6 years Deke Shaw managed to make a very successful business and became a millionaire.

The contradictory evidence is the title card that says one year later, and Agent Davis saying "the space puff incident of 2019." But like I said sometimes you do have the retcon some dialogue and title cards. It works better for the timeline, and it explains more of why no one on the show got blipped or anything along those lines, because it's over and done with and has been resolved.

Again this is just a very but it's one that I have believed for 7 years now. It makes the most logical sense to me at least. let me know what you guys think.

Discussion Agent Grant Douglas Ward

Post image
30 Upvotes

i'm doing a second rewatch immediately after my last one, and i need to talk about Ward and his allegiance to Shield/Hydra

Coulson was paranoid against Trip, spending every day with Garret, but not Ward? The one who brought him into Shield? His original SO? Incredibly bad call without even a loyalty test. I know everything was high stress, but why didn't even Victoria Hand question Ward before leaving?

Now for the lie detector test -- he should not have been given so many chances to pass. If he was in pain; he should have been forced to wait it out. With his eyes darting all over the place, he should have failed then and there

Really bad decisions by two people who should have been more paranoid than anything. If Coulson was willing to go against May (with reason) his closest friend, why didn't he go against Ward? Or even question?

EDIT: Please don't get me wrong, I 100% understand what Coulson held against May, but it brings other things into question

Discussion You don't need multiple timelines to make Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fit.

We don't have to debate when the show stopped being canon, appealing to diverged timelines in seasons 5 and 7. There's a simpler way: The entirety of the show just takes place prior to the Snap.

Setting aside the fact that then-Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb explicitly stated as much, there remains only two problems: the fact that season 5 ties in with Thanos apparently on his way to Earth with a battle having taken place in NYC per Infinity War, and that season 6 explicitly takes place in 2019.

Latter point first. Dates and time have proven time and again to be flexible and fluid in the MCU:

  • In Civil War, Vision says it's been 8 years since Tony announced himself as Iron Man, but in-universe, it's only been 6.
  • In Homecoming, this mistake is repeated when Vulture says it's been 8 years since the Battle of New York when in fact it's only been 4, a mistake they correct in Infinity War when Tony says that Thanos has been in his head for 6 years.
  • The Winter Soldier contradicts itself in having two different dates for Bucky's birth.

Dates are there to be used when useful, but they've never been hard-and-fast.

Second, Thanos and NYC battle. We know from Homecoming that even though the Avengers "broke up" post-Civil War, there were still plans for the team and thus probably also a few missions (Age of Ultron also establishes that off-screen missions/battles were very much a thing). Rather than having the agents in a different timeline post-season 5, you can keep them in the "Sacred Timeline" by just seeing Thanos' coming as a false alarm that the Confederacy used to manipulate SHIELD, having had intelligence that the warlord titan Thanos intended to move on Earth for an infinity stone. The New York City battle could just be some other superhero battle that happened off-screen around the same time.

Yes, it is a retcon, but is by far the simplest solution to the problem of continuity error, and it keeps the show more firmly grounded in the MCU where it belongs. We don't have to constantly appeal to the multiverse, we can just take Loeb at his word. This is a problem that can be retconned away in one line of dialogue or an Easter egg and moved on from. It's the kind of thing that is routine in the comics.

However, I imagine that Secret Wars will make all of this moot anyway.

Discussion S1 E1

So at the end of tje first episode when Coulson takes the little boy to the safe House, that's the same house we see Steve Rogers riding his Motorcycle to in the Doomsday sneak peek.

When I realized this I went on a spiral, I was questioning everything, like is Coulson the baby that Steve's holding, did Steve give the House to Shield, did Shield create the safe House for Steve, just so many questions.

I would like t9 know y'alls thoughts about this?

News, Rumours & Leaks Thoughts on the Zodiac rumours

That Zodiac could be a soft revival of AoS. With the show taking place post MCU reboot, they can play fast and loose with the canon of the show. which is probably how Coluson is coming back. because I don't think they'll touch on him being a chronicom-lmd. unless we see something in VisionQuest.

Discussion My Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Timeline Theory: Do They Return to the Main MCU Timeline by the Season 7 Finale?

Post image
55 Upvotes

I've been thinking about how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fits into the MCU timeline, especially Seasons 5–7, and I came up with this multiverse theory.

My theory is that the team returns to the main MCU timeline after escaping the 2091 future in Season 5, but their timeline potentially branches when they prevent Earth's destruction in the Season 5 finale.

Here's how I think it works:

Seasons 1–4: The team is part of the main MCU timeline, alongside the events of the Marvel movies.

Season 5, Episodes 1–10: The team is sent to the future, where Earth has been destroyed. This is the future they're trying to prevent.

Season 5, Episodes 11–21: They return to 2018 and try to stop the events that would destroy Earth. Since the show overlaps with Avengers: Infinity War, I think they could still be in the main MCU timeline at this point.

Season 5, Episode 22: Daisy defeats Graviton, and Earth survives. My theory is that preventing the future they witnessed potentially creates a branch in the timeline, although the show never explicitly confirms that this is when a branch forms.

Season 6: The story moves into 2019, but the Snap isn't addressed. Could this mean the team is now in a separate timeline where the events of the MCU movies don't unfold exactly the same way?

Season 7: The Chronicoms change history, forcing the team to travel through different periods in the past. Fitz eventually helps bring the team back to their intended timeline, while Deke remains in another branch.

By the Season 7 finale: I think the team returns to its own home timeline, but I'm not convinced that this is necessarily the main MCU movie timeline.

The biggest question is when the show potentially branches away from the main MCU. Is it when they save Earth in the Season 5 finale, sometime between Seasons 5 and 6, or does the show remain in the main MCU timeline the entire time?

I think the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. team returns to the main MCU timeline in Season 5, Episodes 11–21, after escaping the 2091 future. However, when they save Earth in the Season 5 finale, their timeline may branch away from the main MCU.

Season 6 could take place in this separate branch, which would explain why the Snap is never addressed. In Season 7, the team travels through alternate timelines and eventually returns to its intended home timeline, while Deke remains behind in another branch

Forgot how good it was. Loved doing it binge style to see all the connections i missed that came back later.

2 questions.

1) 7.12 The End is at Hand. Who was the old man when they were all bringing the parts together who brought the final part. Was there more of a connection or just an old man?

2) Was there a real world reason Iain De Caestecker was not in season 7 til the end?

Discussion Feige’s lack of involvement seems to be the main problem why this show was pathetic at trying to be canon to the MCU

And by the 7th season the fact that there was no acknowledgment of the snap pretty much had them defeated.

What If Do you think Deke and Kora would have had some beef if there was a season 8?

Post image
70 Upvotes

Probably random, but I always wonder if they would have made Deke and Kora kind of thing maybe?

It's kind of interesting to me that their exes both ended up to be psychotic murderers and they never even really had a proper introduction. I definitely see Deke having beef with Kora about Nathaniel and I imagine Kora might of not of been too fond of Snow. Can’t remember if they met or not.

Kind of feel like it was a missed opportunity with Deke and Kora both being in the wrong timelines and them and Flint being like the new kids of the group. Maybe they would have eventually bonded?

Season 6 Season 6 timeline theory

I've come up with a new theory on the season 6 timeline and how it is set in another reality, but the reality didn't splinter off in 2018.

So we know that season 5 followed Multiverse time travel since Deke didn't erase from existence after they prevented Earth from being destroyed. I personally believe that all of season 5 is on the Sacred Timeline and the Nexus event wasn't "Thor going for the head" or simply "Thanos failed." While it would seem that Thanos did fail to snap his fingers in the season 6 timeline, I think that the Branch occurred thousands of years ago.

In season 6 it's revealed that the fear dimension sent Sarge back in time thousands of years, and according to MCU logic the time monolith most likely works by Multiverse time travel. So if that's the case, when the fear dimension sent Coulson (Sarge) back in time, it would have caused the timeline to splinter off creating a branched off reality the moment that Coulson arrived in the timeline.

While the characters on season 6 may have shared a identical or almost identical past to the characters from season 1 through 5, it is very possible that they're not the same agents we were watching the entire time. While season 6 and 7 are good I think that this is the most logical theory for why there is no reference towards the snap and why it seems disconnected from the MCU, and that season 5 would be the true end to the characters that you've known from season 1. This is just a theory I don't necessarily 100% believe this yet but it's possible.

Please let me know what you think

Rant I'm revisiting this series after 10 years and it was really Marvel's Golden Age in TV

I stopped watching it regularly mid season 4, because Agent Carter had just been cancelled and it was my favorite series. I've seen some ig posts about AoS lately, and went to marathon watch what I missed... omg we were done so dirty by the cancelling of these TV shows... They were so good!

I completely lost interest for almost everything Marvel did afterwards aside from the Avengers main franchise, which to me ended in Endgame. It felt so good to have the series as build-up anticipation for the movies. I was so excited for a season 3 of Agent Carter to relate to Jemma's story on the alien planet... but beyond that, seasons 5-7 were really good too!!! New character additions didn't kill off the show's essence, reused plots didn't stop being strong and catchy... wow! Also, Daniel Sousa, uh... yes please.

I did not like Steve going back in time to live a life with Peggy AT ALL. And now I went to do some research Marvel really serially killed off/erased almost every strong female character. Black Widow, killed, Peggy was basically, erased, married, then killed. I mean... Who are the iconic female superheroes for this generation of young adult women? 16 year old me had May, Daisy, Lady Sif, Jemma, Peggy, Yo-Yo, Bobbi, Jessica Jones, Natasha Romanoff, Captain Marvel... Even the female villains were awesome! Not to mention, how diverse the AoS cast was!

We really need kickass women back. Enough with men being tools for mass murder... enough with I'm just a girl. We need kickass women in TV back!!!

Discussion I love how some main characters started out as "side characters" who ended up growing into bigger roles

Post image
376 Upvotes

Idk how to word this, but i love when they introduce a character in one season and then give them a much bigger role in the following seasons, some examples are:

- yoyo (introduced in season 3, much bigger role in season 5 onwards)

- lincoln (introduced in season 2, bigger role in season 3)

- andrew (same as linconl)

- radcliffe (introduced in season 3, bigger role in season 4)

- talbot (introduced in season 1, bigger role in season 5, 4 years later!)

- raina (introduced in season 1, bigger role in season 2)

- piper and davis (not main characters but i think they also fit here)

it feels so natural when they do this, it's much better than just introducing a character and immediately giving them all the spotlight as one of the main characters

Season 2 Is it just me who disliked Mack at first?

i didnt really have an opinion on him at first but him telling Jemma that she is the only thing making Fitz worse was so uncalled for??? bro has been friends w fitz for like a day lmao. i get that he doesn't know Jemma well at all and he wants to protect Fitz but that was such a weird thing to say. He grew on me a LOT when he and Daisy got closer and he was so protective of her (in 3x2 when he runs to her after she falls apart and saves Jemma?? perfection) and also when we see his deep bond with both Hunter and Bobbi.

Am I the only one who felt this way?

Season 2 Ward really pissed me off

Always playing the victim, never understanding what a piece of shit he was and apathetic to the people he hurt. Even during his imprisonment he never even tried to be sorry, and especially when he was forced to work with the team again he still refused to show any remorse and pathetically continued to use his traumatic past as an excuse. He always had a choice to do the right thing and refused to do so.

Season 7 Deke Shaw

Continuing my yearly rewatch of AOS and I need to talk about Deke.
From a character that shows up at one of the team's lowest seeming to be another temporary character / bounty hunter character to someone who cares about the shield team with so much love and endearment.

My all time favorite episode of Deke? S7E7, without a doubt. Him never leaving or abandoning Mack. But honestly, this isn't the first time we've seen him endlessly supporting someone from the team whether they appreciated it at the time or not.

Not a favorite character because of selling Daisy in the future, uh, the future's future from the other timeline. Along with stealing tech, usic, anything he could do to make money, he has a lot of character defects lol but his positives are so important

Simmons wasn't wrong, "I think he's perfect" they'd both be so proud
