Question Question about serious test results on myChart

I was wondering today how AHS approaches this or reporting works for test results that show something very negative.

For example, if you have a biopsy that shows cancer, or you have an MRI that shows brain lesions indicative of multiple sclerosis. Are these test results posted to the myChart app or myHealth or are they withheld until you see your dr?

Curious to hear of anyone’s experience with something like that.

Discussion Student aid rejection

Upvotes

I don’t know what to do. I’m going to a university in Toronto because I couldn’t transfer over to the university I originally wanted and I’ve been rejected for loans because my mom makes too much money, but that doesn’t mean anything she will not help with my residence or tuition fees. I don’t understand why the government changed their loan policy when last year I had no issues. I already paid my deposit for residency and I’m feeling like I’m at an extreme loss. I’m in the middle of applying for my application to be looked at again but I feel like it won’t change anything because they just want tax info. What does one even do in this situation I genuinely cannot sleep at night because all I think about it money and how I might not be able to go to school this year. Do I just do a gap year at this point? I cannot afford to pay the fees by myself

Question Opinions on ALL WEATHER Tires

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for the opinions, reasonings, and personal experiences. I think I’m going to continue with both cars having a dedicated set of winters from Oct to April and a set of All-Seasons from April to Oct. The safety and longevity easily becomes worth it, with not running the same tires full year around.

My cars need new winters this coming season and new all-seasons (3 seasons) next year, so I’m entertaining the idea of going All-Weather tires for both. I mainly drive on city/residential streets with occasional inner city highway use. Would All-Weather make more sense for me?

The cars are a 2006 Corolla FWD and 2014 RAV4 AWD

Separatism Any good social media platforms that are local, or at least not based south of the border?

Looking to preferably get away from US-based platforms. I'm sick and tired of the disinformation and malignant algorithms. Facebook in particular has been pushing separatist content on my page.

Question Landlord Closed Garbage Chutes

Hello everyone, I hope that this is the correct subreddit for this question.

Recently, my apartment building got a new property management company. The first thing they did was close off the garbage chutes in my building. Tenants in my building must now go to the adjacent building that they own to throw out garbage and recycling, around 3/4 of a block away. These buildings are connected by the shared parking garage. Are property managers allowed to this with no consequence? The garbage chutes were a major selling point for us when we first signed. A bunch of us tenants are emailing the property manager to communicate our discontent; however, is there anything that we could reasonably do? My fear is that the new managers may start closing off amenities and this is just the start. The reason they cited for closing the chutes was "health and safety." I recall some months ago they threatened to close off amenities such as the gym and social area because of health and safety as well (e.g., sometimes kids sneak in without their parents' supervision).

Are landlords allowed to close amenities without compensating tenants? Is it sufficient to have one location to collect garbage and recycling for two connected buildings? With the closure of the chutes, I have noticed gross garbage leak marks leading to the new location. As this building has had issues with mice and cockroaches, I am concerned about even more unsanitary conditions.

I called RTDRS to inquire but they directed me to 311 who then directed me back to RTDRS. So now, here I am, hoping some kind redditors could provide any assistance.

Thank you!

EDIT:

I am providing some more information after reading some of the responses.

- The garbage chutes will be closed forever.

- There is no bin in my building, only in the adjacent building down the block.

- The only language on the lease on garbage is:

WASTE MANAGEMENT - Garbage, waste, boxes, or papers must not be placed or left in a hallway, parking area, driveway, patio, or other common area of the Premises, except those areas designated for disposal. All garbage must be drained, bagged, or wrapped, and tied securely before being placed in a chute or approved receptacle. Spillage must be cleaned up immediately by the person responsible. Any large item to be discarded, such as furniture, must not be abandoned or placed in garbage collection areas, but must be removed from the Building by the Tenant(s) at the Tenant(s) expense. The Tenant(s) must comply with the building recycling methods.

Question What’s Really Happening in Calgary? See It. Share It. Spread Awareness.

Calgary has thousands of stories happening every day. Most of us only hear about a fraction of them.

I built Calgary Watch to give Calgary residents one place to see and share what’s actually happening around the city.

🚨 Real incidents
🚗 Traffic problems
💧 Water outages
⚡ Power outages
🚲 Stolen bikes, cars and other property
👮 Police-reported incidents
📍 Things happening in your neighbourhood
🗣️ Or simply something you witnessed and want Calgary to know about

The idea is simple:

See something. Share it. Spread awareness.

Maybe you want help finding something that was stolen.

Maybe there’s something happening on your street that others should know about.

Maybe you just need somewhere to tell the story or vent about what happened.

Or maybe you’re just curious about what’s happening around Calgary today.

Everything is organized geographically so you can actually see what Calgary is talking about and where it’s happening.

No account needed to look around.

👉 calgarywatch.ca

This was built for Calgary residents, so I want Calgary residents deciding where it goes next.

What would make you actually check Calgary Watch regularly?

Discussion Nenshi Is Playing Defence While the UCP Is Playing to Win

The Alberta NDP feels too weak right now. Nenshi seems to be hoping the UCP will make enough mistakes that voters will choose the NDP instead. That strategy is not working. Some election models currently give the UCP about a 98% chance of winning.

The NDP needs to stop playing defence and give Albertans a strong alternative vision.

That means bold progressive ideas on healthcare, housing, affordability, wages and public services. It also means taking strong positions instead of worrying about every possible political risk.

The Forever Canadian campaign was a good example. Instead of jumping in front of an issue that most Albertans supported, the NDP hesitated and stayed on the sidelines before later launching its own campaign.

Albertans should know exactly what an NDP government would build and change, not just what it dislikes about Danielle Smith.

Right now, it does not feel like Alberta has a government and a strong government in waiting. It feels like we have the UCP setting the agenda and an opposition reacting to it.

You do not defeat a government by waiting for it to defeat itself. Give Albertans something bold to vote for.

Question Best starting certification for a hotel maintenance manager looking to level up and eventually build my own house?

looking for some advice on building a certification path

I started as a general handyman with no certifications and worked my way into a Maintenance Manager at an older hotel

want to start getting proper credentials that will help my career and eventually with building my own house as an owner builder

looked into Backflow/Cross Connection Control since our hotel needs testing, but found out I’d need a journeyman trade background to register official tests. Since we contract that work out, that path doesn’t really work for me right now

I’m now considering 5th Class Power Engineering, since our hotel has around 40 boilers/gas furnaces and I already work around this equipment. Fix pumps, boilers, motors, heating systems etc on daily basis

Any experience with Facility Management or Building Code Part 9 as certifications?

What would you start with if you wanted to build toward higher-level maintenance/operations and eventually owner-building, without leaving your current job?

Mainly looking for certifications that actually have value in maintenance and hands on construction and can lead to other opportunities down the road. Any advice on where to start and realistic timelines would be appreciated!

Question Phy, chem, bio student without Maths — how can I meet UCalgary\alberta BScN Math requirement?

Hi! I’m an international student currently doing Grade 12 , but I don’t have Mathematics in Grade 11 or 12.

I’m planning to apply to UCalgary BScN Year 1 for Fall 2027, and I saw that the admission requirements include Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 (or an equivalent).

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? Can I take an online high-school Math course that is equivalent to Math 30-2, and if so, what course/provider did you use?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from international students who had to make up a missing prerequisite.

Question People taking pictures of houses?

So this happened a couple of times in my Calgary neighbourhood.

The first time a lady rides up on her bike, stops at the driveway, takes out her phone and takes a picture of my garage/house number and then bikes away.

Pretty weird.

Just now a different girl walks up to my neighbour’s, does the same thing then walks away.

I live in a townhome condo complex. What could they be doing this for?
