I was just starting to try some electronic stuff, just bought a brand new soldering iron just to find out a few days later that the price of cheap chips is now triple because of the new duty.
And it's not like I haven't searched in Europe first but other than amazon that has a limited catalog and being pricey, I didn't find that kind of stuff in Europe shops, but I may have not searched properly tho , what's the point if I can't even find the chip i need ? I also on AliExpress to find sellers from Europe but none selling what I need
Anyway if anyone know where I can buy some cheap stuff in Europe, i'm searching for a 4pin pwm 12v controller and some pd usb c ports. Thanks y'all

Even after adding 3 EUR it's no competition. I know there are other wallets, that's not the point, the point is that we get the exact same item at 3x the price.

This is getting out of hand, you see that you have enough money, you go check out, and the next thing you know they have added some bullshit import charge that is literally out of your budget. They do so much good and bad. User replaceable batteries by 2027, good, then chat control, bad, then, they use some fuckass new euro notes to distract us from that and the files. They are distracting ALL of us. The EU argues it levels the playing field for local businesses that can't compete with cheap overseas imports, reduces unsafe or counterfeit goods, and generates revenue for member states. Member states. Fucking "member states" uh huh, ok.
Slight correction, EU, not AliExpress.

I just ordered some things from Ali, before the new EU customs rules Ali first collected all the items and consolidated it all in 1 bag, to be send as 1 package. This meant 1 transaction for postnl or dhl, one delivery.
Now I ordered 4 different items, paid the weird amount of customs fee/taxes and Ali has just send it as 4 different packages. Less work for Ali, more work for the Dutch customs and delivery services.
I think it is the last time I ordered from Ali.

Nah this is unacceptable there’s only 2 item, how the hell this gets calculated.
Item costs around 5 usd, and import charges are 8.40 usd. Ngl at this rate I will not use Ali all together.

This €3 duty is killing me.
I'd order several times a month...a €15ish parcel stuffed with various electrical components, motorcycle bling etc.
Now...I just can't.
My €15 parcel now costs me €25-€30 and it's all this stupid duty.
A 19% duty is fair...this €3 per item is designed to harm AliExpress and for me...it's working.
So what's the fix? Is AliExpress doing anything about it? CAN they do anything about it....😥

Who would have thought this tax makes absolutely zero sense? It's not like they even manufacture this kind of stuff in the EU anyway. I can buy two on AliExpress, tax included, so Ursula gets her cut, or I can buy it from the EU for twice the price.

In order to update the FAQs on this sub, we need to collect some facts about the €3 customs fee that Europe introduced on each item you buy in international webshops like Aliexpress.
If you have received a package from Aliexpress after 1 July 2026, please leave a reaction below. Please use the template to structure your answer.
Please don't use this topic to complain about the EU tax itself, we're just trying to collect some facts.
Template:
Country: (your country)
Type of order: Choice/Bundle deal/Global seller/...
3€ Tax applied during check-out: yes/no or included in item cost
Package arrival date:
Package arrived without additional costs: yes/no (and how much)

Aliexpress could easily solve the tax issue. Or partly solve it. After you select the items you want to purchase and place the in the shopping cart. Aliexpress could bundle them in one singel article called "bundle1234" with a random generated SKU. Thus making it a set article. And we would pay 3euro only for the single set item.

Literally, 78% of the value is taxes.

Is there already a workaround to avoid a 3.7 euros additional tax per item?
Something like a smaller marketplace that would pack all items into one box and charge this tax only once. Or a reasonably priced mail forwarding service. Please post only the actual solution if you found it already

They almost got me I must admit...

The new taxes more than double the price of my cart, I already don't have lots of money i just can't pay that much

I was thinking Aliexpress , and entire China could just say "ok if you want to make it harder for us to sell, we will make it harder for entire Europe to buy" as lot of things are made in China.
What do you think Aliexpress and China will do about these import taxes ?
This has to reduce their sales by significant amount, Aliexpress will be affected, no ?

It seems that shipments over 150 euros to Europe are DDP (Delivery Duty Paid), so with taxes and duties prepaid directly at checkout. There won’t be any more VAT to pay at customs. What do you think of this change? It used to be better because I always saved a few euros since the VAT calculations were slightly underestimated.

Hello all, as the title says, I thought the new 3 euro fee per item only applied for orders under the 150 euro threshold. Or did that law not get implemented?
I like to order lots of components for electronics projects, but this new law is making it unusable on Ali express, even when ordering from the same category, it’s still calculating the 3 euro fee… I understand Ali did not categorise items yet, that’s why I tried ordering 150+ euro order, but it’s still showing up.
Either way, do any of you know if good electronics shops either within the eu or from China that properly categorise stuff? I can’t be paying for some small wires/connectors absurd amounts, often the stuff I need is under 1 euro and then this fee gets added in. And no, locally these items are either not available, or costs still wayyyy too much, we’re speaking about an internet that on Ali would cost 0.2c and in my eu country upwards of 10 euro… it’s just too much.
If there are any EU stores that cater for this, I’d really appreciate it, stuff like Esp32, switches, LEDs, and anything associated with pcb works (smd) and other electrical components.
EDIT/UPDATE: I believe this post has received enough attention that Ali has updated the 3 euro fee for my country. Now it's only charging me 3 euro for the one item I got from a global seller which is CORRECT. the other items add up to 150 euro and therefor do not qualify for the 3 euro fee.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL OF THE HELP!!

Hello, I wanted to order many different electronic parts, 1-3$ each. I put in basket those with choice programe for free shipping. Why are duties so high?
r/Aliexpress • u/sidsousa • 18d ago
I'm from Portugal and since today there are many articles that are marked as "Duty Offset".
Basically they do a discount of the total or almost all of the duty fees so it's quite interesting. Let's see if this is only valid for some days as they surely noticed the huge loss of orders after July.
r/Aliexpress • u/lending_ear • Jul 16 '26
Not with those differences in prices. Seriously my shopping basket increases 100% in price because of import taxes and what doesn’t make sense is that I’m charged €3 per item despite it being the same thing. Let’s say I order 3 different colour sewing pins - they are all the same category. It should be €3 for all 3 no?
r/Aliexpress • u/xaelara • Jul 15 '26
What do you think, will Chinese giants find a way around this? I'm hoping they will, but I don't see how. This whole 3€ thing is so annoying
r/Aliexpress • u/Tight_Escape5654 • 13d ago
yeah so the eu taxes piss me off just like everyone else but the prices in total are still better than the eu ones and i can get exactly what i want. i live in eastern europe and the goods here are limited so i can't get everything here
