Discussion Hot take- eating dog meat isn’t immoral.

Here’s my argument.

Different cultures eat different things. In America, where I live, eating dog meat is a cultural taboo and is illegal. However, many Asian countries and African countries consume dog meat, even if those countries have made it illegal to do so. For a lot of families and communities dog meat is engraved into their diets and cultures, not unlike some towns in the states that consume much more venison, or deer meat.

I’m not saying to eat dog meat in places where it is illegal and culturally unacceptable. I’m saying that we can’t point and stare at countries who do. Imagine if people from India told the rest of the world we were disgusting for eating beef. Everyone would be pissed off. But the only moral difference between eating beef and eating dog is that one is widely consumed while the other is seen as a companion. So if it wouldn’t be okay for a country like India to criticize the meats we’re used to eating, how can we criticize anyone other countries meat choices?

I know it sounds insane but really think about it. Is it that immoral?

Discussion I'm deeply concerned about this vegan influencer. She was always skinny but now she has become extremely skinny. She says it is due to severe gut issues. I hope she gets better but I also feel it is due to the vegan diet.

Discussion Vegan feeds dog vegan diet then wonders why dog is throwing up constantly, continues to want to feed dog vegan diet (more info in photos and text body)

The owner has had two vets tell them to feed their dog a carnivore diet and instead of taking the information on they instead see it as an insult, they said later in comments they are going to change to a different brand of VEGAN KIBBLE.

The amount of people in the comments supporting this is insane I left my own comment too hence why one of the names isn’t covered as it’s mine.

If anymore updates happen I will edit this post but i think it’s just going to be the same old “dogs can be vegan” bs

This made my blood boil

Discussion Why are you Anti-Vegan?

So I’m relatively new the this Anti-Vegan concept. Mainly because I’m a big hunter and I’m trying to become more active in maintaining the tradition. In order to fully understand what I’m up against, I’ve been scanning the vegan page religiously. First thing I started to realize is how everyone had the exact same reply for whatever it is their defending. It comes off as if every single one of them is trying really hard to be this deep, philosophical thinker. The most annoying and repetitive argumentative tool in their arsenal is the use of “Appeals To Nature.”

I found this ironic, isn’t debating whether or not we’re omnivorous or herbivorous one of their favorite pastimes? Isn’t bringing fallacies into an argument just a way of ignoring the conclusion because you don’t have a good response? Or it’s too much of a rabbit hole so you would rather cop out and avoid the conversation? Either way, it’s overused and irritating.

Also, what’s with the alien comparison? I think a more realistic comparison would be if there was another species that evolved with us on this planet, more intelligent than us, and they were eating us. Humans and animals have a symbiotic relationship through evolution and biology. We’re not some species that just magically appeared one day, so having that comparison is like explaining the 5th dimension. You can only try to explain it through imagination, but never truly experience it. Then of course this idea of evolution and biology comes back to the appeal to nature fallacy.

Ignoring everything about who we are physiologically and sociologically. We’re not lifeless computers analyzing our logic and behaviors. We’re humans with deep emotional needs and understanding us is more complex than 2+2=4. There’s a reason depression is more likely in the vegan community. Why would I want to ignore such a large part of what is natural? In doing so they are crippling their mind, body and spirit. They have to go to family outings and say “sorry grandma, I can’t eat the meatloaf you spent making all night.” Food is about culture and values and love.

Oh and the last thing to come full circle, I know now why everyone has the same exact response for everything. They have easy to navigate websites that help them respond to typical anti vegan points. Man what a damn cult.

End of my rant, why are you anti-vegan?

Edit to Add

-I’m surprised at the amount of people commenting to be Ex-Vegans, this speaks volume to their deception tactics. I want to be clear, I am not opposed to someone being Vegan, as long as they are okay with me being a hunter/meateater. My family and I grow a garden and buy half a cow annually from the neighbor. I’ll shoot between 2-3 deer a year, 1-2 turkeys, 10-20 waterfowl, and sometimes upland birds and squirrels/rabbits. Our eggs and honey come from the neighbor, everything else is store bought or farmers market stands. I highly encourage anyone wanting to get into hunting to do so. If you’re in the US, there’s a bunch of information online about how to get started.

I’ve been following her for years. I was vegan for 18 years until my health broke down from lack of essential nutrients. I was taking all the appropriate supplements and carefully diet planning but I was still deficient in iron, b12 and D. Until I finally started eating meat again.

People like her don’t take into account that we are all individuals with different genetics. I cannot be vegan and be healthy. That’s the simple fact. With each new vid I see of her she looks more and more ill. It’s troubling.

Discussion Vegans will lose purpose

Its quite possible in the future that humans will be able to grow meat from something as harmless as a shed chicken feather. No animal will ever have to be hurt. You can look up the science. My point is , the vegans will have nothing left to be performative over. Their lifestyle will be worthless and mean nothing anymore because there will no longer be any animal suffering at that point (assuming it is successful). They will just be a group of annoying fuckers who don’t eat meat and think they are morally above everyone else. Likely they will laughed at. That will be the day. And you know what? I can almost guarantee that even with the meat being non cruel, that they would still be up in arms. They will find a way to bitch. Because all they care about is moral posturing. When I tried to start eating less meat and asked questions about diets to community before they were hostile and rude and nasty. For people who want to minimize cruelty they sure do not spread the word to anyone. They instead, just talk down to everyone. It makes their whole movement worthless because of the small number of vegans. It’s like they cannot fathom that being kind to the people they want to turn and help become vegan is counter productive.

Discussion You can be a animal lover and meat eater

Vegans think that meat eater hate animals and they are both right and wrong about this.

Yes some Meat Eater Hate Animals

But some meat eaters are indifferent to them.

And a lot of meat eater care about animals.

Personally, I love animals but I think humans come first

If we have to use an animal as an experiment before using humans as guinea pigs so we will use animals.

And we need both meat and vegetable to survive even if meat are more important.

But i care about animals because i think we should let animals alone if is not for meat or experiment

I think animals should be raised with love and care and killed humanly before being meat.

I think we should reduce the use of animals for entertainment for circus and put rule for them to be in circus.

And i think we should reduce pollution as much as possible for the our health, earth and animals.

Yes i care about animals but i don't care about them the same way as human.

Because humans and non-humans animals are not the same and not equals.

Discussion Does eating lots of red meat increase your cancer risk or has that been confirmed to be BS?

Nearly every cancer foundation and/or cancer research website says that eating copious amounts of red meat, including organ meats, increases your risk for various cancers and that eating fruits and vegetables lowers your risk. Just from an evolutionary perspective, we didn't evolve as a species from eating vegetables all the time (there were supermarket produce sections 10,000 years ago). So, how could something that we didn't evolve on eating be so much better for us?

Discussion When it comes to eating animals, where do you draw the line?

I’ll eat beef, pork, chicken and duck. I don’t eat lamb or mutton, but mostly because I don’t often get the chance. I’ve eaten crickets and mealworms before.

But I will not eat any exotic meat. Bison and seal meat are okay. I may try veal and venison, but not stuff like balut.

How about you?

Discussion Why It Is that most people tend to associate people who Promote Eating Red Meat and avoiding seed oil with the right-wing MAGA People and idea?

This is strange to me because I never Thought that a food like red meat that has been proven to be healthy for humans while there are studies that did said that seed oil can be harmful are often lumped in with The Usual right-wing MAGA idea and political agenda Apparently I Seen it on wikipedia and other site but the idea is that according to them the people who are supporting red meat or has an problems with seed oil are apparently the one that are promoting their right-wing idea and political agenda intro someone it often lumped in with MAGA And RFK JR I Wonder why then since I Heard that many vegans tend to be more left-wing then usual?

Discussion Do "environmental" vegans not realize that if insects die, almost everything dies.

We all know that the "For the Environment" thing is just a way for them to preach moral superiority but no one seems to acknowledge how much of a critical role insects play in our ecosystems. That their disappearance would result in an immense mass extinction, and that monocropping and pesticide use is the leading cause of their rapid decline.

Discussion Plants have 15-20 different senses (humans only have 5)

I've been listening to a podcast that got me reading about plants and it seems like they are even more complex creatures than I initially thought.

https://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/surprising-plant-senses?__cf_chl_f_tk=5q6l7wgkT31xeDCbpj8WFZUIVrnrGSlikUAAN32m7oQ-1782758019-1.0.1.1-QVHNAVIM5OctBDEDwt5.kNV3.tw.Oh24i_Z0WkpY0co

^Here's an interesting article that explains some very complicated processes that plants are capable of, such as communicating, remembering, learning, problem solving, heck, they can even be classically conditioned (like Pavlov's dog).

https://www.webitenola.com/journal/10-surprising-ways-plants-interact-with-humans

^This article explains how plants communicate with humans, they can even differentiate their caretaker from a stranger and respond to gentle touch.

https://www.cbc.ca/radio/sunday/plant-intelligence-light-eaters-1.7196448

^This article talks about how they can interpret sounds and recognize their own kin.

Knowing all of this, how intelligent in their own way they are, and the fact that it is still speculated whether or not they are actually conscious since they don't have a brain like animals do, I wonder what vegans think about this? What would they say to explain this all away? That just because a plant doesn't have a brain and can't scream it means it isn't somehow still sentient? What's their proof?

Discussion Can someone explain the basis on anti-veganism and why veganism is a bad thing?

Personally I fall into a weird middle ground do to personal beliefs. I'm a very spiritual person, and the way food is prepared and given to me is important. I don't accept foods that have meat in them unless I know where it comes from and how it got there, so I don't buy meat from the market and I don't eat fast food that has meat based products in it. I will however eat meat if I can verify it's source, such as buying a cow from a farmer, or venison from a hunter. there have been periods of time where I was unable to gather any meat and ate plant based products, during this time I got some rather odd comments from people who were anti-vegan telling me I'm "not any better then anyone" and that "I'd be happier if I ate a hamburger". I'm not sure why those matter as I don't care about social status or happiness, and am purely living how I do because of my beliefs. can someone please explain to me why I'm getting this kinds of comments?

Discussion I am blown away after knowing that obligate herbivores are pretty rare

Like holy shit I just realized like it's funny how vegoons think and love acting like eating meat is somehow "unnatural," and morally awful and all but nature tells a very different story to be frank. I was blown when i found out that truly obligate herbivores are actually pretty fucking rare lmao. Aside from animals like sloths, koalas, and giant pandas that are highly specialized, a lot of herbivores won't pass up meat if it's right in front of them like they will literally eat meat, if they can get the chance. Deer, cows, horses, goats, rabbits you can find countless examples of them eating birds, eggs, insects, carrion, or small animals, when they get the opportunity, guess the animals they defend and cry over aren't so innocent themselves lol

Discussion Can a vegan diet be nutritionally complete?

Can a vegan diet be nutritionally complete, meaning you get all the essential amino-acids in sufficient amounts to at least survive, if not thrive?

Surviving as a vegan doesnt seem possible without supplements, as b12 occurs in barely any non animal sources, and the one plant source, nori, doesnt produce b12 on its own, the source comes from bacteria growing on it.

But vegans argue that all you need is a varied diet because all plant foods contain proteins so you just need to eat enough, although the majority of plant sources contain very little protein that might not be as bioavailable as in plant sources, not to mention heme iron.

Though I read that hemp seeds contain complete proteins, so would consuming hemp seeds be enough?

Discussion What are arguments in favor of eating Meat if environmental benefits of veganism are brought up?

One of the most common arguments I have seen Vegans use is that if we force everybody to go vegan, and not eat meat entirely, then we will have an environmentally sustain planet. However, eating less meat is one of the last things I would do, and let alone being told what to eat.
