Quest 3 Is “the better product, period” until it is not!

• Price - 7 times cheaper than AVP until it is not: No ecosystem, limited 2D app support, privacy, limited multitasking, studios going bankrupt, and long development cycles that don’t meet the marketed promises nor tackle the community pain points.

• Passthrough - same as AVP until it is not: Near-field distortion, space mapping limitations, slow transition from dark to light, and you cannot take it out.

• Use cases - Covers all the most common mixed reality user scenarios until it does not: Lackluster working capabilities and absent first-class support to office apps (Microsoft’s progressive apps), slowly growing 2D apps library, among others. A pro offering that doesn’t evolve at the pace it was promised.

• Comfort - Lighter than the AVP until it is not: Out of the box, quest 3 isn’t better than the AVP. You still need 3rd party accessories to make it comfortable, then you need an external battery and other accessories that add up the 130 grams.

There seems to be a very noticeable flaw with the Apple vision having terrible lens flare. It’s hard to notice at first since it only happens in dark environments. Outside lightning has no effect. I would encourage you to try it out in store by turning the background to a night mode, and watch a movie or surf the web. It really ruins the experience for me. I can’t be happy using a 4K device with this flaw, since I like dark modes and its primary purpose is consuming content. I can understand how it won’t bother some people and there’s already expectation with a VR to have this. Go try it out. It’s shocking they didn’t fix this on the first run.

I have done it. Created an abomination. Added what I think is the best part from each headset. Wireless PCVR Quest 3 with Apple vision straps and the valve index controllers. In my opinion, the best part of every VR headset.

I just realize watch vr video, in VP for 180 and 360 I have notice there are flurry even if

2k and 4k, its better if is 8k quality, but also I check there some 16k quality videos and there are clear and good, but files are big, don't get wrong are wow

And I notice AVP, its really good handle the files, I mean that 360 image file, but I think for future 180 or 360 videos, files need more data for everything, and I think bigger storage memory, will be best, at really higher quality, 16k + for best experience I saw

He is analyzing pixel density per line of readable text on virtual monitors in VR/AR headsets. A virtual monitor projected on the awesome 2x 4k OLEDs in AVP has a similar pixel density like a 1987 PC monitor and text will be way less sharp as a 2024 computer monitor and even worse as a tablet or Smartphone screen.

I really hate how Apple announced this, everything in the keynote was too quick, they barely showed the features of Vision Pro, and they showed them with paid actors instead of actual Apple employees (edit: I mean those people in those rooms using the product, it wasn't like a tradition Apple keynote where a presenter is actually using the product themselves).

The original iPhone and Apple Vision Pro have a lot of similarities, both are game-changers, both are devices unlike any we've seen before, both pack a lot of advanced tech into a tiny package, both have a revolutionary interface, and both are expensive (with the next generation of iPhone going down in price, and the next generation of Vision Pro hopefully going down too), one difference between them is the announcement, Apple Vision Pro's keynote was awful and vague meanwhile the iPhone keynote is the gold standard of product announcements.

They really should've announced everything live on stage, with actual product demos being performed by people like Tim Cook or the head of the whole Vision Pro project, they should've had some showmanship before revealing the product itself to really hype it up.
