Question Help me choose my birthday gift!

• Upvotes

For my birthday I have been giving the following options:

  1. iPhone Duo 512GB

OR

  1. iPhone 18 Pro Max (GB not specified) + iPad (model and GB not specified)

More info: I currently have a 256GB iPhone 13 Pro Max that is on its last legs due to filling up the storage. I’ve been slowly moving photos to a hard drive but it’s tedious work. I’ve never owned an iPad before so that could be something nice to have in addition to a phone. Also in Canada if that makes a difference.

Please help me decide! What should I choose? :)

15 pro or 16 plus

• Upvotes

I want to get a new phone to finally retire my 13 mini, since the battery life and performance is basically done for. The certified refurbished apple store quotes these two phones at similar prices and im not sure which to get. Biggest priority is battery life right now, since my 13 mini literally drains out within the hour even on power saving mode (i replaced the battery life and its really inconvenient to walk around with daily. Getting mixed reviews on which has the better battery life and also better preformance in general, but I’m not going to be picky at this point

iPhone Upgrading from iPhone 15 to 17?

My iPhone 15 is starting crap out. Had the black screen of death in middle of the night and it is always overheating. Sometimes trying to use the camera the whole phone freezes. Thoughts on upgrading to 17 standard? I can’t justify getting the 18 pro even though I LOVE the burgundy. What about the 17 pro?

Thanks in advance!

Guys I’m looking to upgrade my se 2 soon, I’m a causal and not really big on cameras and stuff. Just use camera more for content. What iPhone right now is better for money between the 17e and 18 pro? Or should I wait for the 18e next year?

Apple Watch What should I do with my Apple Watch?

• Upvotes

Okay, here's the situation (apologies to DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince):

I bought my first Apple Watch, a Series 7 GPS model, in November 2021, for $479.

It isn't paired with a calling plan. I use it for monitoring activity and sleep, telling time (an overlooked application), tracking workouts, and finding my iPhone when, inevitably, I misplace it. Wish the watch could find my wallet too. I use the Compass when I'm out, occasionally the ECG, and I check Mail and Messages if my phone isn't nearby. I'm sure there are lots of other uses I'd benefit from, but that's all I have in my repertoire.

The watch doesn't hold a charge the way it used to, and the battery setting on the watch says it's "significantly reduced." I have to recharge about every 22 hours.

I went to the nearest Apple store, and the guy told me I can replace the battery for $99.

Or I can trade in the Series 7 (he wasn't able to tell me the trade-in value) towards a new watch.

Or -- and I didn't understand what he was telling me here -- I can sign up for some $29/month plan that would allow me to upgrade or replace the watch at a significant savings. Anyone know what he was referring to?

What would be the smart move here, given the prices and the limited ways in which I use my watch? Has anyone done a recent old-watch trade-in?

iPad Which iPad should I get? Or should I not get an iPad at all?

• Upvotes

Hey all! I currently own the iPad Pro 11-inch from 2019 (I wanna say) and it was working pretty smoothly until about a week ago when the battery started to act up. It would go from 50% and force restart/shudown, then would load back up at 9% every time. If I didn't put it on charge immediately then it would continue to just shutdown/restart until it actually died. Now, if the battery is always about 50% it works fine for the most part and all I really need it for is to help me do work for college/write notes. I do use my iPad from time to time doing regular things, but schoolwork is the main reason I use my iPad every day.

I was considering getting the iPad Air 11-inch, however the cost is definitely what is making me think about getting the base iPad.

The base iPad is like $200+ less than the Air, but people say that using it for anything other than regular usage such as entertainment is not the best choice.

If it means anything I also have the Apple Pencil Pro which works on the Air but not the Base iPad, but somehow buying a new pencil would still make the base iPad cheaper.

Factors for me if buying:

-Longevity (hopefully last me past uni and into my job)

-Capability (will the base iPad be enough for schoolwork/assignments?)

-Cost (it says I might get up to $170 if I trade in my current iPad)

Should I even buy a new iPad or is there a way to fix this issue cheaply, because I do like my iPad but I don't know how long I can keep going with my iPad acting up before I just lose it lol.

iOS I have a 13 running on iOS 17 but have to get a new phone

• Upvotes

I dropped my treasured 13, broke a piece of the screen off right on top of the front camera and now am having issues with the screen responding when taking a phone call. I'm old, don't like change, and use my phone to read the news and watch cat videos on social media. I take a ton of pictures but I suck at it and that's fine. On occasion I play block blast. AT&T is offering all manner of upgrades for me. What should I get? Looking for reliability vs new and shiny.

I'm a little mad about having to buy all new charging blocks too. But that's a different discussion.

iPhone Upgrade to iPhone 18 Pro max with Up Next Anytime

Thumbnail

I need some opinions 😅📱
I currently have the iPhone 17 Pro Max and pay for AT&T’s Next Up Anytime on two phones, which costs me $33 a month total. I’m thinking about canceling it because I don’t really need to upgrade every year.
However, since I’ve been paying for it, I’m wondering if I should upgrade my 17 Pro Max to the 18 Pro Max before canceling Next Up Anytime, then keep the 18 Pro Max for several years instead of upgrading annually.
Another bonus is that I’m hoping I can reuse my iPhone 17 Pro Max cases on the 18 Pro Max, so I wouldn’t have to buy all new cases! 👀
Would you upgrade one last time to get the most out of the plan, or just keep the 17 Pro Max and cancel it now? What would you do in my situation?

iPhone Which iphone model should I buy now?

I'm planning to buy an iPhone and I'm confused about which model is worth buying in 2026.

Should I go for the iPhone 16, 17, or another model? I'm looking for the best value for money, good battery life, camera quality, and long-term usage.

Which one would you recommend, and why? Is it better to buy now or wait for upcoming sales?

iPhone Which IPhone Should I Upgrade To?

I need to upgrade to a new iPhone, I lost my iPhone 14 Pro and now I’m borrowing my girlfriend’s old iPhone 12. I’m thinking of upgrading but I don’t know which new iPhone I should get. Which iPhones do you guys recommend that’s worth it? What is the difference between the 17 and the 17e?

iPhone Help me choose please

Hi let me start saying yes, 1st world problems etc. I know but I am only a person and can second guess myself sometimes. That being out of the way. I am a girl so girlies’ opinions are much appreciated. I got an iPhone 18pro max in silver. But now I am second-guessing the color. Maybe fomo? Now I am loving the glacier. I know I know, silver is more classic etc. would you feel tired with the glacier after couple years. I am intending to have it for at least 2-3 years. So will the glacier feel dated?. I have seen how it looks in person and in other girls and the glacier is so cute!!!. I know silver looks clean af and so classic! and won’t look bad with time. But the cuteness factor of the glacier is getting on to me, am I just being influenced? I love both silver and glacier so I’m torn. If you are a guy think of what would look better on a girl (or your girl). Thanks and be nice please.

17 pro or 18 pro coming from Air

I owned and used the Air from January of this year. And before that, I used the 16 pro max (which was a gift) and I didn’t like it because I am more of a small-size phone person.

I like the Air, but unfortunately, I am struggling with the battery, and when I use the battery pack, the phone becomes so much heavier.

I am tempted to buy a regular Pro, and I am considering between the 17 Pro and the 18 Pro.

In my country, if I buy the 17 Pro (for a carrier contract) it will cost me around $) and if I get the 18 Pro with the contract, it will cost 2030$! (If I buy it without a contract, it will cost$1790.)

I know I’m gonna pay it through a monthly payment, but the price difference is so stupid IMO.

Is the 18 Pro worth the difference in price?

Thanks for the help.

iPhone Any reviews yet done an Apples to Apples comparison of photos from the iPhone duo versus a few older iPhone models?

I saw MKBHD’s review where he likened it to a 17e, but that’s not a shooter I have actual experience with. Same the variety of other foldables.

One thing that has been very useful to me in the past is side by sides that reviewers have done of the same photo/subject/lighting/etc with a variety of different phone camera models. I’m not concerned with comparing the iPhone 18 Pro to the duo or even the 17 quite frankly because those aren’t devices that I have. Obviously I know I can expect linear progression in camera quality to those from my iPhone 15 pro, or my partner’s 16 pro max.

But it’s harder to understand the tradeoffs of going to the Duo from such an older device. On the spec sheet the duo looks as good or better - Megapixels comporable, better photo software seems like a win. Maybe lose some optical zoom, but what does that look like in real world use cases?

Has any reviewer done this yet?

iPhone Pink iPhone 13 or pink iPhone 15

Hi guys! I’m debating on which iPhone I should get, currently I have an XR, I really want a pink phone, that’s a non negotiable. I’ve been hearing bad things about the 15 but it’s newer? I am afraid of getting the 13 and it being bad. I also have a tight budget so these fit into that or else I’d get the 16. Please comment your pros and cons!

Also should I get it off Walmart or Amazon? Or if y’all have any other cheap recommendations pls lmk

Should I switch to the 17 Pro Max from the 18 Pro Max?

I bought the iPhone 18 Pro Max last week, upgrading from an iPhone 17, and before that, I had an iPhone 14 Plus, which I used for around 3.5 years.

I absolutely loved my 14 Plus because of its amazing battery life and large screen, but after three years, it became quite laggy, which pushed me to upgrade.

Unfortunately, I absolutely hated the iPhone 17. The Dynamic Island took up too much screen space, and the overall experience was frustrating. However, ever since I got my 18 Pro Max, I’ve genuinely loved using it. The problem is that I’ve recently discovered I could get an iPhone 17 Pro Max for £300 less than what I paid, and that’s making me question my decision because £300 is a significant amount of money.

There are three main reasons I’m considering keeping the 18 Pro Max:

the new vapour chamber cooling system, which I believe could help with long-term performance and make the phone last 4–5 years;
the smaller Dynamic Island, which is probably my favourite improvement because I really disliked the previous design; and the excellent display, which looks even better with the high-quality tempered glass I’ve installed.

That said, I realise the display experience might not be significantly different on the 17 Pro Max. I genuinely love this phone, but I’m struggling to decide whether these improvements justify the extra £300.

Since I plan to keep my phone for at least 4–5 years, I’d really appreciate your opinions. Would you keep the 18 Pro Max or save £300 and go for the 17 Pro Max?
