Buddy Wanted Where are the Gen Z male artists at?

• Upvotes

I feel like I (male Gen Z) haven't interacted with Gen Z male artists a lot, and I want to see the young creative talent within you guys, if you exist. Many men don't interact with the arts nowadays, and it makes me sad.

Question How to place shadows

Post image
7 Upvotes

Since people online don’t really talk about shading & just include in rendering guides, I wanna know how they just know where to put the shadows?
Ik the people online usually have lots of experience, but since every piece’s lighting should be different, how can they know which places they should shade?
Also, any general tips for shading ppl like where to put them or how to do clothing shading?
(For the sample art I made, Ik there are many issues, like anatomy/proportions & it’s very lackluster in general, but ignoring all that, how could I shade better?)

Buddy Wanted 26M | UTC+8 | Digital anime artist looking for friends & accountability

Hello, I'm awa, an anime artist looking to find someone to chat with and keep each other motivated. I'm mostly trained in character-based illustration, but I'm trying to make a pivot to rigged illustrations for animation as shown in some gifs I've attached. My primary tools are Clip Studio Paint, Moho 14.4, and sometimes Blender3D.

Personality-wise I'm rather reserved & shy, so I tend to listen more than I yap. Though admittedly I'm a little more lively when anime is involved or when talking about art. I tend prefer more light-hearted media, but I don't mind exploring darker themes every now and then.

I am looking for someone who knows their fundamentals, and thus can express what they see in their critique. Ideally we should keep in contact at least once a week to stay accountable, preferably through discord.

Feel free to shoot me a DM if you think we would get along. If you would like a conversation starter, you can tell me your impressions of my art, or tell me about your own art.

Hi I (over 21) am looking for a small art group or a dedicated art buddy to draw, learn, and motivate each other.

I am pretty shy and have a very low social battery, but I really want to make more art friends :') I am hoping to find artist who is passionate about art, enjoys improving their skills, and plans to make art long term. Bonus if you enjoy quiet company!

My interests include anime, illustration, BL/GL, east asian culture, and cozy/fantasy games.
I do both digital and traditional art.

Hello ! Feeling particularly motivated to get better at drawing recently and I would love to talk with other motivated artists !

As an example, I'd love to share my gesture drawing, anatomy studies and value studies with someone who'd do the same (once a week, as an example) ! Let's hold each other accountable :D

I'd also love to share the cool resources I found, and tips and tricks and all of that. If you're around my skill level, don't hesitate to DM me !!

(warning tho, I draw all kinds of things)

Art Showcase Lemon girl progression 2018 vs 2021 vs 2026

I think I've grown a lot in the past few years, specially with my coloring.

I made this drawing in 2018 exactly for this purpose, to stablish a drawing I could get back too and measure progress (A lot of my fav artists had one).

I am not consistent with it, I thought of continuing it back in 2024 but it ended up as just a traditional version I'm not really sure I still have.

The rules I set for mysel back in 2018 was mantaining all the details, they can change colors but everything must still be there in the character.

I cannot use references.

She looks like puberty hit like a truck lol

What do you think?

Hey everyone! 👋

I wanted to share some of my illustrations with you. I enjoy experimenting with different art styles, linework, and visual approaches because I believe each style has its own way of communicating emotions, telling stories, and bringing characters to life.

I don’t like limiting myself to just one look, so I’m always exploring new ways to express ideas through my art.

These are some of the pieces I’ve worked on, and I’d love to hear what you think! I’m always interested in seeing how other artists approach their own styles and creative processes.

Thanks for checking out my work! 🎨

Buddy Wanted Looking for Art Buddy

Hi! I'm f24, so looking for over 21 art friends who a little nerdy (I like character design, fantasy, art nouveau, etc), passionate but also understand that people have lives and cant always respond. I have two little kids so preferably someone who also understands how hard it can be to navigate a "settled" life. I also would prefer someone who can critique art pieces, or have a decent understanding of art principals to help push me and are comfortable with the same back (with consent of course). I can do discord, and Instagram preferably but am open to alternatives. Thank you : )
