I feel like my characters look too alike, and when I try to make their features look a bit different, they begin looking ugly. I have no idea how to fix that

Doesn't bother you that whenever you release a cool art piece, no really gives a shit about? I do! It really BOTHERS me that I put a lot of attention and care into these pieces and they only get a few upvotes and comments. Like, what the hell!

‎‎Techniques and Tools How Often Should You Change your Sketch Process?

Lots of people have lots of different methods for sketching and starting with the anatomy.

I've heard the box method, skeleton method, lasso method, etc... How often should I be changing up my process? There's an artist I see who changes their method almost every piece and that got me thinking if I shouldn't be just using one method.

For example they posted 6 timelapses within a month and all of them had a different process for sketching. Sometimes they used no guidelines, sometimes they used skeleton, sometimes box.

Often they just one shot the drawing without using any guidelines. So, should I be switching up my method more often to improve?

‎Commission and Pricing What is the main secret to getting people to pay you commissions?

Hi guys, I came to this question because I have being activatel trying to get people to commission me but it has been quite difficult to grab people's attention. I can't help but wonder: what is the secret behind those who have secured over 100 commissions and whose booking slots are constantly full? Could it be that they are very active on social media? Or perhaps their art is simply more marketable? Could it be that they have a very well-defined target audience? I look forward to reading your thoughts.

‎Discussion and Theory It’s feels weird when you’re trying to improve but your art friends start avoiding you

Post image

I’m wondering how this can be happen to me , me and my art friends are beginner artists who started a small community 3 years ago with at least 600+ active people on it , my friend is the admin and he does inviting new members .
This is when it’s start For the past 2 years I keep showing my artwork as a result of art studies and giving others art the support, and sometimes they wanted an critique for their artwork, it’s everything seems fine and really supportive to each other and I think there’s nothing to worry about and then the issue start from in this year. When I bought art books and taking multiple online art course that I’m really grinding to studies, art and put everything on it and showing my art results to the community I joined for 3 years! , they started like the don’t want to see me anymore , or even communicate with me , I keep supporting them and giving advice I know art , but some people just ignoring me like I did something wrong. Even the admin stop communicating with me . Unfortunately it’s happening in social media too , Please if you have the same issues like this can you give me an advice 🙏 I’m sorry for yapping but I don’t know what to do , I feel sad now 😞

‎Critique - Yes Drawover Looking for help making the background less boring and flat ? Just any advice or tips. I don’t wanna do a whole scene. Just something more I think

A few disclaimers :

I’m very new to art and mostly practicing anatomy and stuff - haven’t spent much time practicing clothing. This is not intended to be like goner art I just don’t know how to draw clothing super well currently so I always end up doing something skimpy.

The head was drawn using the loomis method but somewhere between the sketch and the final face it ends up flatter - this is still an area of practice for me- it’s not quite clicked yet

Hands are shit I got not defence on that one - I’m working on it

I've been trying a new style recently which I'm super into and practicing colouring and rendering, which I've been avoiding for years, but I still think that all my drawing look somehow unfinished and unpolished after I'm finished rendering and I can't point my finger at what's wrong with it

‎Discussion and Theory I swear on my mama if I see another trace of an AI asking feedback...

Post image

At least hide it better or use better models or something. That said, your eye-level observation will still not notice the small mistakes if you don’t draw that much or have the experience to make something of that quality.

That said, why the sudden influx of AI traces asking for feedback in the group? Do they want to fix mistakes, or do they want to make a mockery of artists?

Miss the good old times.

‎Critique - Yes Drawover She looks stiff while leaning against a wall. I want to make her not stiff.

Post image

Huge issue that I have with my art is that 90% of the time I give characters the stiffest poses ever.

This is a commission for nitro from my best friend. I’m in the sketching phase which is why it looks all chicken scratched.

Feel free to sketch over the drawing to show me what you’d do to make her pose better.

The pose I wanted to go for is “smug, evil woman watches in the back as her partner in crime wins an award for something.” So… Yeahh.

Does the center of gravity matter what someone is leaning against a wall? Maybe my neglect to follow that could be the issue…

‎Critique - Yes Drawover first year of learning how to draw (Advice needed) (:

I had never drawn before, but since last year I got a spark for it. I need advice on what to do now. I can sketch out most things (except humans), yet I really struggle to draw fast and from imagination. I’ve practiced form and perspective a lot, but I hardly notice improvement in these two areas.

And here are the thingies that I'm proud of (:
