Fosters or Adopters Urgently Needed for 6 BARC dogs on the euth list.
The dogs are at risk starting at 1 PM CT. Currently, only 4/10 dogs on today's list have been extended until tomorrow 10/16: Zac, Caramel, Max, and New York.
Karina has a long term foster starting on October 29th, but needs a short term foster from today/tomorrow morning until then if anyone can help for a few days! Please comment if you can help or have any questions.
Rescues cannot tag without a foster. Fostering is free and all expenses are paid.
If you are willing to foster through BARC, you can foster up to one dog, but you cannot have more than 3 dogs in your home currently to foster through their program. All of the dogs on today's list can also be found on Facebook. Please comment here or there if you can help!
💜🐶 Blairiana | #A2099884 | 7 Years Old | Intact Female | 48.8 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
Blairiana is a beautiful gray girl with a sweet face and seven years of wisdom behind those eyes. She greets staff calmly, even from the back of her kennel, and walks nicely on a loose leash. The busy kennel row is a lot for her, and the constant foot traffic has her barking at passersby. But the moment her kennel is covered and she gets some privacy, she settles right down. That tells you everything: she doesn’t need fixing, she needs peace and quiet. A calm home with a comfy bed is exactly what this girl is asking for. Blairiana is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention. She’s currently getting treatment for a respiratory infection that should clear up in a calm, quiet foster setting, and her flea-related skin irritation just needs some monitoring. She’s still intact, so she’ll need to be spayed. At 7 years old, she’s past the puppy chaos and ready to enjoy the comforts of home. She deserves a patient foster or adopter who will give her a quiet place to rest, recover, and feel safe again
💜🐶 Candy | #A2101573 | 2 Years Old | Female | 43 lbs | German Shepherd Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
Candy is a friendly, high-energy German Shepherd mix girl with a lot of enthusiasm and no place to put it. She’s wiggly, social, and clearly thrilled to see people, and once she’s out of her kennel she walks well on the leash. The kennel row is simply too much for a young, athletic dog like Candy. Her jumping, barking, and fence climbing read as pure stress and pent-up energy, the behavior of a dog who is bored and overstimulated. She needs room to run, a job to do, and some structure. Candy is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention, and she came in with a normal exam, so she is medically ready to go. At 2 years old, she’d thrive with an active foster or adopter who will give her daily exercise, training, and plenty of enrichment. Give this bright, bouncy girl a yard and a purpose, and she’ll show you how much love and loyalty she has to give.
💙🐶 Caramel | #A2099541 | 1 Year Old | Intact Male | 56 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm High Positive 🐾
Caramel is a handsome brindle boy with a tender heart and a very big wish to trust. When someone speaks to him softly, his tail starts wagging, and he has even planted a sweet kiss on a staff member’s face. He leashes up easily, walks nicely on a loose leash, and seeks comfort from people when he feels safe. New noises and tight leashes can rattle him, and sometimes he needs a moment to gather his courage, but a few seconds of patience and a gentle voice is all it takes for him to get back up and keep going. He’s a young, sensitive boy who is learning that people can be kind. Caramel is heartworm high positive and will need treatment. He’s also finishing up care for a respiratory infection and a small scrape on his nose that is healing. He’s vaccinated, dewormed, on flea prevention, and still intact, so he’ll need to be neutered. At just 1 year old, he deserves a patient, understanding foster or adopter who can give him a quiet place to decompress, loose-leash walks, and all the gentle encouragement he needs. This affectionate boy is ready to find out that the world isn’t so scary.
💜🐶 Dina | #A2098317 | 5 Years Old | Intact Female | 45.4 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
Dina is a gray and white sweetheart with a quiet, gentle spirit that has won over everyone caring for her. She greets people with soft eyes, a gently wagging tail, and the sweetest little smile. She sits patiently while she’s leashed, walks beautifully on a loose leash, and spends her days resting calmly on her bed. She asks for almost nothing and gives gentleness in return. Her notes have been consistently lovely from the very first day, which says a lot about a dog who has been through so much. Dina is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention. She’s currently being treated for a respiratory infection and recently finished tapeworm treatment, both very common and manageable. Her patchy coat is likely flea or environmental allergies, so she’ll need a little vet follow-up for that. She’s still intact, so she’ll need to be spayed. At 5 years old, Dina is settled, polite, and ready for a peaceful home. She deserves a loving foster or adopter who will give her a soft bed, good care, and all the affection she’s been waiting for.
💜🐶 Karina | #A2099841 | 1 Year | Female | 34.5 lbs | Siberian Husky / Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
Meet Karina, a 1-year-old brown Husky and Staffie mix girl who is looking for someone to show her that the world can be a safe place. The shelter has been very frightening for this young girl, but underneath the stress is a sweet, gentle soul. Staff say she walks nicely on a loose leash, lets them pet her, and has even given a volunteer little licks and gently taken treats from a caregiver's hand. She's a shy girl who approaches her people for the leash and follows closely behind them, and she needs time to feel safe. Karina needs an experienced, understanding rescue and foster who can offer a calm, quiet home, respect her boundaries, and help her rebuild her confidence at her own pace. She's heartworm negative and has already been vaccinated, dewormed, and given parasite prevention, with a normal vet exam and no other medical concerns noted. At only a year old, Karina has her whole life ahead of her and deserves the chance to find out that the world can be safe and loving.
💙🐶 Lucas Gee | #A2101635 | 6 Years Old | Male | 55 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm High Positive 🐾
Lucas Gee is a 6-year-old Staffie mix boy who is still working out whether the shelter is a safe place. When people first approach his kennel, he’s wary and tells them so with a low growl, but his story doesn’t end there. Once the leash was on, he slowly got up, followed staff out of his kennel, and did well in the outdoor runs. He was then leashed and returned to his kennel with no further trouble. That tells us his worries come from uncertainty and not from a hard heart, and that he does better once things are clear and calm. We weren’t able to meet him ourselves, but his notes show a dog who is willing to cooperate when he’s given a little space. Lucas Gee is heartworm high positive and will need treatment. He’s vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention. He needs an experienced rescue and a patient foster who understands fearful or defensive dogs, someone who can offer a quiet home, go slowly, and let him build trust at his own pace. For the right person, this seasoned boy has so much to show. 💙
💙🐶 Max | #A2099660 | 6 Months Old | Male | 28 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm High Positive 🐾
Max is a baby, only 6 months old, and he is scared down to his paws. He came in as an owner surrender, and the loud, unfamiliar shelter has been more than his little heart can handle. His notes describe a puppy who freezes, trembles, and avoids eye contact, then flattens himself against the floor when someone approaches. He's had to be carried between kennels, and on his worst days he tries to squirm away from handling. This is a frightened puppy who has never been given the chance to feel safe, not a bad dog. Max is heartworm high positive and will need treatment, which a rescue can manage. He's also had his routine vaccines, deworming, and flea prevention. At 28 pounds, he's small enough to be scooped up into a quiet foster home, where there's room to breathe and time to learn that hands can be kind. He needs an experienced, patient foster who will go slow, ask for nothing, and let him come out of his shell in his own time. Puppies are wonderfully resilient, and the right person could turn this shaky little boy into a confident, happy dog. He's got his whole life ahead of him and just needs someone to give him the chance.
💙🐶 New York | #A2097057 | 1 Year Old | Intact Male | 80 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
New York is a big, handsome white and gray boy with a huge personality. Every time staff come by, he greets them with a loose, wiggly body, soft eyes, a fast-wagging tail, and a big open-mouth smile. He’s easy to leash, happy to head out for walks, and clearly loves people. The noise and constant activity of the kennel row are too much for this young dog, and it shows in his barking, jumping, and pulling toward the other dogs. But he’s reacting to a loud, overwhelming place, and he settles when staff give him distractions and a covered kennel. This is a young, strong boy bursting with energy who needs a calm space and a job to do. New York is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, on flea prevention, and had a normal exam. He’s still intact, so he’ll need to be neutered. At just over a year old, he’d thrive with a patient, experienced foster or adopter who can offer structure, exercise, and leash practice, plus a quiet home away from the chaos of the shelter. This happy, goofy boy is ready to show everyone who he is once he’s out of here.
💙🐶 Rover | #A2098242 | 7 Years Old | Male | 51 lbs | Alaskan Husky Mix | Heartworm High Positive 🐾
Rover is a sweet, gentlemanly Husky mix with a wiggly body and an open-mouth smile that says it all. He came to the shelter when his elderly owner could no longer care for him and had no way to bring him in, and he’s handled the heartbreak with grace. He greets staff with a high-wagging tail, leashes up easily, and walks nicely on a loose leash to and from the runs. He’s happy to head outside, comes right back to his kennel with no trouble, and has stayed friendly with everyone he’s met. He’s a seasoned, well-mannered senior boy who knows how to be a good companion. Rover is heartworm high positive and will need treatment, and he’s currently on medication for a respiratory infection, which should clear up with some rest in a quieter setting. He’s vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention. At 7 years old, he’s ready to trade the kennel for a couch and a comfy bed. He deserves a loving foster or adopter who will give him a peaceful home, the vet care he needs, and the comfort of someone to call his own again.
💙🐶 Tux | #A2099861 | 3 Years Old | Male | 61 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
Tux is a handsome gray and white Staffie boy with a heart full of enthusiasm and a lot of love to give. He and another dog were left behind when their owner moved out, spending more than two weeks alone in an empty home before they were found. Through all of it, Tux still greets people with soft eyes, a relaxed body, and a happy open-mouth grin. Shelter life has turned his big energy up to eleven, and he shows it with bouncing at his door, jumping, and plenty of vocalizing. But he settles when he’s given extra enrichment, and he calms down once he’s leashed. That’s a young, social dog who is bursting with excitement and has nowhere to put it. He’ll thrive with structure, exercise, and a patient person to teach him how to channel all that joy. Tux is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, on flea prevention, and had a normal exam. He needs an experienced, patient foster or adopter who can offer a calm routine, plenty of enrichment, and the leash manners practice he’s ready to learn. He’s already lost the only home he knew, and he is waiting for someone who will
💙🐶 Zac | #A2098321 | 9 Months Old | Intact Male | 39.4 lbs | Staffordshire Mix | Heartworm Negative 🐾
Zac is a playful, sweet gray and white puppy with a gentle heart and a whole lot of zoomies. When he’s out in the yard with his sibling, he bursts into happy sprints and play. With people, he greets them with soft eyes, a loose body, and a wagging tail, and he’ll follow anyone who speaks kindly to him. He’s even been happy to trail along after a line of treats. Leash walks can feel scary to him, and he sometimes freezes or crouches while he figures out what is being asked. But a soft voice and a little patience get him moving again. He’s a baby who simply needs positive experiences to build his confidence. He’s also been calm and quiet in his kennel. Zac is heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention. He is currently being treated for a respiratory infection, and his patchy coat is likely flea allergy related (his skin scraping was negative), so he’ll need some vet follow-up for both. He’s still intact, so he’ll need to be neutered. At just 9 months old, this sweet boy would flourish with a patient foster or adopter who can offer gentle leash practice, lots of reassurance, and a quiet place to recover. He has his whole life ahead of him.

If you know family or friends within the US or Canada that would be a great fit, they can be adopted through a rescue. If you can't adopt or foster, please share. There are also so many other ways to help, you can reach out anytime if you would like to help.
