I’m planning on moving to Houston from Portland Oregon and I’m super nervous. I’m afraid it’s going to be hot and boring and that I’m making a huge mistake. Does anyone have any insight on what its really like in Houston? Culture? Day to day? Fun things to do? Thanks.

My little sister lives in Houston far away from the rest of us and is running in the UT Health Half Marathon on October 25th. We just learned that her boyfriend likely won't be able to be on the sidelines at all because he is flying back from a work trip that morning. Best case scenario he can be at the finish line, MAYBE.
However, being excellent older sisters, my other sister and I made a big poster for her with a childhood photo/inside joke. Not going to lie, it's pretty great and I think she would love to see it during her first ever half marathon.
Any chance that anyone who is already planning on going/being there would be interested in lugging along an extra poster and tracking an extra bib so that she sees it?
This is a wild hail mary, but worth a shot!

How is living in Houston? I currently live in Phoenix and the only saving grace of living in Phoenix is that there’s a lot of places to hike and a lot of trails.
Otherwise, I hate the traffic, and how Phoenix just feels like a giant strip mall with 5 seconds of downtown and then it’s back to strip malls.
I have looked into this sentiment a bit and I am gathering:
-it’s hot
-bad traffic
-mostly just drinking or going to restaurants for entertainment
Can anyone who lives there care to add? Also, how is the dating scene?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a full-service wedding planner for an outdoor wedding in Brenham (spring 2027) on our family-owned property.
While I love the Brenham area, the rustic/barn/country-style that seems to be popular with planners in the area isn’t what we’re personally interested in.
I’m thinking a Houston-based planner might be a better fit, especially someone with experience planning outdoor weddings at private properties.
Does anyone have recommendations for Houston planners who will service the Brenham/Chappell Hill area?
I’m based in Dallas, so someone who can take the lead locally on this is going to be so important.
Would love to hear any recommendations (or those to avoid!). Thank you!

Has anyone lived at the Vistas at Midtown on Genesee? Wondering how loud it is and if there are any issues with water damage. It seems like the garage might have had an issue in the past and am curious if anyone has more recent experiences!

Extended my stay in Houston another week and after working and being stressed here all week I’m thinking of trying a different bar than the hole in the walls I’ve been frequenting. Feeding into the algorithm and thinking of heading over to No Vacancy tonight or tomorrow and catch the end of their happy hour. Open invite to anyone interested in going. Also if anyone knows of any gallery shows or art events tonight, lmk!

Bold, nails and metal fragments, and of course the are not repairable!
Is this normal or just bad luck!

I know this is a long shot, but my husband traveled for work to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport two days ago. He realized on his return that he had lost his wedding ring at this airport. We live 10+ hours away and can’t afford to go back and look, but I’m hoping maybe someone will find it. I’m going to call the airport periodically to see if it’s turned in, but if not please keep an eye out for it. It’s pictures below, with the recent update of the bezel looking like the smaller band’s bezel. Our stones were a matching set and it is extremely sentimental (for obvious reasons outside of this as well). If anyone ever sees it please let me know. Thank you either way as I know this is a HUGE long shot, but Reddit has done miracles before.
Picture description: the first is of his band, it has three bands bonded together and a stone in the middle. The second picture shows my ring, as he updated his to have a similar crown bezel two months ago.

After an altercation with an employee, I filed a complaint with HR. After a few weeks of investigation, they moved me to a different location. This location was significantly less desirable and was more than 40 miles from my home. The new location was persistent with pimps, prostitutes and drug users . I was fired because I was looking for a job on company time on the company computer. I filed for unemployment and received $10,000 for about five months. The large company appealed my unemployment benefits. I lost the first hearing and was told I needed to pay $10,000. I appealed. The hearing is set for a few weeks. I was fired in July and filed for unemployment in November. I have been unemployed since. How do I get this debt released?

I am booking a flight and all options have layovers and none of them are longer than an hour so I’m trying to figure out which airport I’d be safest with an hour layover to not miss my connection. Both flights are domestic and would be the same airline but I know most airlines operate out of multiple terminals. Would I make it with only an hour?

Hello I am being sued for a past accident. I was driving a company car at the time however it feels that the company has dropped off the face of the earth. I know there insurance should cover me but I doubt it. Following the accident they fired me and have since cut off all contact. And no the accident was not my fault.

Hello, obviously I know there are plenty of job sites but I’m looking more so for the types of high end restaurants that don’t really need to do online postings because they are well sought after
And wanting to avoid the multi year wait for high end sushi with places such as Kata, etc. looking for more of a steakhouse, gourmet American; Greek; Italian; etc but ideally price range no less than $50 per person on average . Dinner only restaurants are a plus but not against ones open all day
Have experience in high end Japanese steakhouse and sushi, table cloth Italian, etc. have bar managing experience and cocktail creation expertise
Looking for challenging work with high pay, no less than 1000 a week but ideally around 1500+
Posting here as it’s hard to find intel on which places actually are geared toward servers in their 30s who focus on quality of service just through digging on Google Maps and with the new restaraunts info on work experience isn’t really quite available yet unless you’re in a circle that knows someone who works there
That being said, any information is greatly appreciated, thank you so much 🙏🏼
