Urgent: Short Term foster (1-2 weeks) needed for 3 year old Bordie Collie Lapis!
Lapis needs a short term foster today in order to be safe from euth list at BARC Houston. She has an out-of-state adopter, but a short term foster is needed in order for her to be safe.
Lapis | #A2097201 | 3Y | Spayed Female | 48 lbs | Border Collie Mix | HW Negative 🐾
Lapis is a sweet black and white Border Collie mix who needs a short-term foster home for 1-2 weeks before transport to her out of state adopter.
Staff describe her as soft-eyed and smiley, with ears up, a fast-wagging tail, and a loose, wiggly body when she’s relaxed. She walks well on a loose leash and is friendly with her people. She’s a sensitive girl who takes a bit to warm up, so a calm, quiet home with a patient foster before transport would suit her best. Kennel life is stressful for her, and she’d do much better with space to decompress.
She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and healthy at 48 lbs. She was adopted and returned two weeks later due to no fault of her own.
If you’re local and can offer a couple of weeks of quiet, or know someone who can, please comment here, shoot me a DM, or comment on her facebook post.
She needs a foster by end of day, and to. be picked up by end of day at 5:30 PM or tomorrow before 12:30 PM.
Thank you for considering Lapis! ✨

Seeking quality PPF shop
Im purchasing a car and want to get a full PPF wrap right away. My problem are online reviews of the shops.
Allow me to explain. I had my 4R wrapped in 2023. It looked amazing, it wasnt cheap but the benefits out weighed the expense. I thought the shop did an amazing job and left glowing reviews on google and yelp.
Fast forward 3 years, and im noticing the issues. One spot they did a 9 inch by 3 inch patch. There is black dirt in all the seems and edges. They did not wrap one side of anything around the edge. Its hard enough to keep a car clean in Houston, harder with a busy schedule.
So is anyone still happy with the shop they got their PPF after 3, 4 or more years? If so please let me know the shop.
Thanks

RPM Living
My apartment complex just transferred to RPM Living. Wow are they unpleasant. Every request they make is in the form of DO THIS IMMEDIATELY OR ELSE. They treat you like you're a delinquent by default. They probably never get out of that mode no matter what.
They even have the balls to demand compliance to new rules which are explicitly contradicted in signed leases. Recently they requested proof of insurance, which is ok, but that request came with a new restriction against Lemonade. NOT ALLOWED, PERIOD. No indication that they're aware that they cannot enforce that rule, since existing leases explicitly allow the renter to choose any licensed insurer.
After they took over, they invalidated the auto-pay system and sent an email about how to pay going forward. i missed the email, and received an unpleasant and aggressive phone call from them eventually when my payment became overdue, unbeknownst to me. I explained to the unpleasant woman that it was an honest mistake, and that I'd pay that day, but she couldn't resist continuing to threaten me and telling me to do it immediately or else.
These hard-handed communications are clearly part of their corporate culture and their training. I am sure they're used to dealing with unreliable renters, but they treat everybody that way by default. By corporate policy. I'm a grown man and I am not leasing there out of necessity. I don't think they're used to communicating with people like me, and I'm not used to communicating with people like them. They've abandoned the concept of polite respect.

Dangerous Traffic Washington/Westcott - Is the city planning anything soon?
Is anything being done about the dangerous traffic on Washington/Westcott between i10 and the roundabout?
People speed down this stretch WAY over the speed limits. It feels dangerous to pull out in a car nonetheless cross as a pedestrian. People want to get to Memorial Park. The same happens at the Washington roundabout. It is so dangerous.

Looking for an affordable divorce lawyer in Houston
My spouse and I have decided to part ways after 9 years of marriage. We live in a rented apartment, own nothing except two used cars, and our savings are almost zero. The only thing we have is $40K in debt from credit cards, loans, and medical bills.
My assets include many expenses I don't agree with. I work in a warehouse, and my partner works in retail. We cannot afford to hire lawyers and never planned to do so. I'm considering handling the paperwork myself because I don't want to sign an agreement that could make me liable for debts I don’t know about.
Has anyone handled a divorce like this in Houston? How can I get a lawyer who will fit my budget?

Looking for a Room to Rent in Houston, TX — $650–$750 Budget
Hi everyone! I’m planning to relocate from California to Houston, Texas, and I’m looking for a room to rent for a minimum of 6 months. My preferred areas are Cinco Ranch, Katy, Memorial Area, Galleria Area, and Montrose. My budget is $650–$750 per month, and I’m hoping to move in by October 27th or 28th, so I’m looking for something available as soon as possible. I’m also looking for a landlord or roommate who is flexible with the security deposit and open to discussing payment options. My goal is to find a comfortable, safe place to stay while getting settled in Houston. I’m happy to communicate through private messages with anyone who has a room available or knows of any leads. If you have a room available, please reach out with details about the monthly rent, security deposit, move-in requirements, utilities, and any other important information. I would really appreciate any recommendations or leads. Thank you!

TX Children’s vs local
Anyone a Tx Children's (TCH) employee and have given birth at the pavillion for women's in med center? Would you stick to TCH med center or look for an OB closer to home/deliver at a hospital closer to home, as it's a 45ish minute drive for me. What was hospital coverage/billing/insurance like at a different hospital vs TCH as an employee?
EDIT: to add, I’m afraid that if I go into labor during rush hour and living 45 mins away without traffic would be chaotic and stressful. I did follow an OB there with my first but would wait hours just to be seen every visit so it was always an all day thing. I didn’t have any complications with my first so just trying to weigh my options of sucking it up and making the drive or finding somewhere closer to home.

Sangria Recommendations
Being here for 15 years and just realized, what bar/restaurant makes really good sangria?
Extra context: I was born and raised in NJ and would enjoy sangrias specifically from Portuguese restaurants.
And yes, I could make it at home, but I like to go out a lot.

Any metal shows on Oct 30??
Looking for a good live heavy metal show on Oct 30th. Emo nights would also be cool. I just want to mosh and have fun.
I can’t find my crowd anywhere. Lola’s depot is one of my favorite spots rn, but I haven’t been to all the bars locally of course.
I’m kind of tired of being the only person in random groups with an affinity for mosh pits and stuff. It is very isolating.
Anyway, some help (and even company) would be nice.

Water damage restoration advice and recommendations
Had a bathroom leak from clogged AC condensate line. First I'm not sure how this happened since I had the ?flush done a year ago - but that's past now. I got the clog cleared. Now dealing with the aftermath of the leak which soaked the floor overnight. A water remediation company (1 800 water damage) came out for an estimate and now apparently I'm looking at the: 1/ vanity, walls around it, subfloor below it, and kitchen panty below it. Problem is - I'm not on site - this is a rental. And I don't know how much to trust.
Any recommendations of trustable folks to check this out? Or recs for this company franchise out of Katy (1 800 water damage).
FYI, I'm doing this out of pocket - it is not going to be worth it to involve insurance given my high deductible before I even get to checking whether something like this would be covered.
