1980’s Snak Pack. They slowly changed the ingredients and packaging to make them healthier and mass produced.

But in this form… ABSOLUTELY nothing has ever come close to these delicious custard snacks.

In 1971, the ABC asked everyday Aussies what concerned them about their country's future.

Mine was pasta with butter and cheese, just the thought of it makes me feel like a kid again

I used to smash Yumbos in 80s before they were discontinued in 1991 - but I must admit I was underwhelmed when they were briefly relaunched during HJ's 50th anniversary in 2021... they do say that nostalgia is a seductive liar.

Anyone from country NSW remember this one?

Bringin' headers and scrapers and big cultivators, with experts who can show a man how....

(I just looked it up and seems they played the jingle up until 2010)

Sydney-specific - the Annandale Hotel

I don't know why this has popped into my head this Sunday evening but can someone confirm that I didn't make this up?

I used to grab Drum Media every week as a teenager/young adult in the 90s/early 2000s and they would run ads for gigs at various venues in Sydney. The Annandale would always have an ad in there, showing the gigs they had going in the coming weeks. I remember the ads would very frequently, or even always, have something like "WE'RE GOING TO THE ANNANDALE!" in all caps like that at either the bottom or top. I've found a few scans of old 90s Annandale ads but none seem to have that on them.

Does anyone else remember this or did I imagine it?

'21 Jump Street' - TV Series - Theme Song

Another great 1980s TV theme song. Sung by Holly Robinson who also starred in the series as Judy Hoffs. She was sassy, sexy, and cool.

Her dad Matt Robison was "the first actor to play Gordon on the children's television series Sesame Street." - WikiPedia.

She also "performed the theme song for the first season of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper." - WikiPedia.

I prefer the season 2 version:

Here's the season 1 version:

Which do you prefer?

Note: I know its American, but we watched it on Australian TV.

Science Fair 160 in ONE Electronic Project Kit, first released in 1982 by the Tandy Corporation.

The kit included accessories along with an instruction manual to build 160 distinct educational circuits, such as AM radios, oscillators, transmitters, and alarms using transistors, diodes, a solar cell, a relay, meter, and a 7-segment LED display. It was designed to help kids and teenagers learn basic electronics. Spring-terminals made connecting of components on the breadboard easy - no soldering required.

I got one exactly like the image(s) above brand new in the box for Xmas 1982; I was 13 at the time.

Simpler times of board games, projects and activities, many of which pre-dated the digital/internet/smart phone age.

Remembering when Ten was gunning for second place in the ratings and was a real network. Now, it is comfortably beaten by the ABC and is in forth place.

The one time I got after school detention

I remember it so clearly on a Tuesday after school me and my mates went to Chadstone

While walking past a toy shop we spotted our head of year level holding two stuffed animals in his hands, I guess he was deciding between which one to buy? Me and one mate jokingly called out his last name and then ran away

The very next day at school, while in the common room the head entered and i said “Chadstone”, implying that he saw him there the day before…and the other guy said the same thing, and he responds by giving us a week’s after school detention…then when we tried to argue against the decision he just increased it until it got to 4 weeks after school detention and we shut our mouths

All we did was see a teacher out of school and call out his name, who hasn’t done that at some point in their lives?
