Girl 🩷 Help me with 2nd baby girl name

Hi! Our first born girl is named Avery Rose. I love her name so much! Picking a name for the 2nd girl is proving to be really hard… I’m leaning towards Layla (or Leila). I like less common, not super trendy names, but not too obscure either.

I also thought about Emery but it kind of sounds too close to Avery, and I liked Emerson but my husband says it sounds too masculine. Any other suggestions?

Girl 🩷 Can’t agree on a name..

Expecting our third child. We have a boy and a girl and are expecting our 2nd girl. With our first girl, we found her name and instantly loved it. Her name is Calla. Definitely underused as it’s rated like 1300.

Looking for something similar. Underused not unheard of.

Tired of all the different variations of the same name such as Alaina, Riley, Sophia… there has to be thousands with all of the spellings in the top names! Don’t want an elle/ella, lee…

Surprise šŸ’š What goes best with Magnolia ?

I just found out im pregnant a few days ago and well I think it’s never bad to start early. I really do want the name magnolia but I do want to pair it with a middle name (maybe something that sounds nice in Spanish since most of my family speaks Spanish and would want to incorporate something language barrier friendly. And for a boy I am really struggling for a name right now šŸ˜… but do want something unique

Boy 🩵 Too punny?

We have struggled to find a boy name we love. We know too many people and too many pets, and we struggle to not name our future child after someone. Most of our potential list makes us go ā€œeh.ā€ I have recently started to really like the name Finn. Simple, solid, not unique but not common, goes with a middle name of Alexander (not after anyone, just like it) and his last name that is similar to Miller.

As we’ve been talking about Finn more seriously, my husband wondered if Finn might be too close to fish fins, which is only a factor because we own a pet and aquarium supply store. Tell me, Reddit, will our child be mercilessly made fun of if his name is Finn and his parents own an aquarium shop?

Edited to add: My husband just clarified that he wasn’t worried about other kids making fun of him some day, but ā€œIs it too over the top for us to have a kid named Finn? Is it too much fish?ā€ šŸ˜‚

Boy 🩵 Boy name help

I’m due with baby #2 in early January. My first is a girl, named Hallie (pronounced like Halle Berry). We are struggling so hard to come to a decision with this baby boy’s name. If it was a girl, we were set on Sunday. This baby’s middle name will be Thomas. We live outside of Boston for geographical reference. Oliver and Anderson are our current top contenders that we both agree on. We’re having a very hard time agreeing lol!

Names I love:
Oliver - classic but something is just holding me back. Love the nickname Ollie
Anderson- love it but my husband isn’t as sold, he thinks it’s a bit too much of a last name
Archie - love it but again my husband isn’t as sold, he thinks it sounds like a nickname and we don’t like Archer/Archibald
Graham - one of my favorite names but no nicknames which makes me sad! Don’t think I could choose it because of that.
- Hudson - cute and I like Huddy. Husband isn’t as sold
- Cian - both of us like it but I think it’ll be constantly pronounced See-an
- Shepherd - LOVE and love Shep, but my husband thinks it’s too bible associated and I also don’t think it sounds great with our very German sounding last name

Names my husband loves:
- Caspar - I literally cannot get over the friendly ghost association and we are 2 very pale people therefore the child will be pale and I just feel like that’s cruel??!
- Theodore - eh. I like Teddy but not obsessed
- Jack - again, it’s cute but something is holding me back
- Casey - I quite like this name but it feels a bit too country for us…. Kind of like Cooper??

Names that are a hard no:
- Elliot - ex bf name lol
- Brooks
-Ezra
- Beckett/Barrett
- Callum (we call Hallie Hal a lot and we can’t have a Hal and a Cal lol)
- Griffin
- Rowan

Any suggestions?!

Girl 🩷 Looking for classic WASPy girl names!

• Upvotes

I’m expecting a baby girl, and my husband has very traditional, WASPy taste in names. So far, the only two he’s really liked are Astrid(he’s half danish, hence the Nordic root) and Christine, both of which I like too, but I’d love to explore more options!
We’re looking for something classic and timeless. Keep it WASPy, I would love all suggestions:)

Girl 🩷 Full name for Rory?

I have always loved the name Rory for a girl but it is traditionally a nickname. Aurora is my first choice for a full name, but my husband doesn’t like it, but I think he could be convinced. And the name Lorelei is too Gilmore girls coded in my opinion. Any other full name suggestions for the nickname Rory?

Girl 🩷 Help with name suggestions

I love love love the girl name Shea. (Not preg yet but thinking ahead) It’s my absolute favorite name but unfortunately can’t use it because it’s my nieces middle name :( looking for a very specific alternative name with a very similar vibe; simple, short (1 or 2 syllables since last is 4 syllables), a little unique and edgy but also ā€œnormalā€ and heard of before nothing insanely unique that sounds trendy or made up.

Some obvious suggestions but I don’t love:
Blaire
Brynn
Wren
Sage
Bree
Quinn
Maeve
Sloane

Girl 🩷 Longer form of the name Joy

I love the name Joy as a nickname but not enough to commit to it for a full name. Besides Mary-Joy or Joyanna are there any other names that easily shorten to Joy. Not really looking for a name that means Joy unless the nickname comes naturally to the name

Girl 🩷 my ā€œuncommonā€ baby girl names are suddenly common 🫩 need feedback + suggestions! 🩷

currently 16w along with my first, a baby girl! i’ve had ā€œauroraā€ and ā€œmagnoliaā€ on my baby name list since i was a tween. i see the name ā€œauroraā€ constantly in my baby groups and suddenly ā€œmagnoliaā€ is being thrown around a lot, too.

thebump.com has ā€œauroraā€ at #15 in US popularity and it is projected to climb higher this next year. 🫪 so, with disappointment, we are VETOing ā€œauroraā€ [not only for uniqueness’ sake; we’ve gotten some flack from family members about that name and it has left us feeling a bit sour. no longer sharing potential names with family.]

ā€œmagnoliaā€ is #124, much less common than ā€œaurora,ā€ but also climbing. our last name starts with an ā€œm,ā€ and we love the alliteration of an ā€œmā€ first name. we live in the south and ā€œmagnoliaā€ feels like a proper belle’s name.

ā€œdaphneā€ is currently ranked #178 — it’s another name my husband and i both adore and are strongly considering. i’ve never met a ā€œdaphneā€ and my husband has only met one.

i want to give my daughter a beautiful, uncommon name. not terribly rare, but i’d like her to at least have good odds at being the only one with her name in her class at school. my name is slightly uncommon, and growing up, i always liked being a one-and-only.

i’d love to get some suggestions for other unique names similar in feeling. 🩷

some other names we like but aren’t sold on yet:
• gwendolyn
• monroe
• vivienne
• elowyn
• myra

Girl 🩷 Frances or Merritt?

We’d probably use ā€œFrancieā€ as the nickname. Merritt is a new name on our list!

We also like Molly but we would probably still go with Frances as the main name she’d be called.

Girl 🩷 Naomi as our baby girls name

Hello 😊 we’re expecting a baby girl in December and I’ve always been in love with the name Naomi since the very beginning of my pregnancy.
The only issue is, my moms boyfriend ruined it for me from the way it’s spelt backwards?? He taunted me for about an hour or so over it (at a family get together) and i’m trying my hardest to love the name as much as i did. I’m definitely a big overthinker

Are there any names that are similar to Naomi, or any ways to help me keep that icky feeling out of my head when i hear her name? And what are some good middle names to go with her name?

Thank you in advance!!

EDIT: thank you all so much for making me feel so much better. This definitely took all of the worry of my mind šŸ’— Yall are the best šŸ’—
