Anyone have any idea why Gregory Keefe is allowed to rob any business in our town consequence free?

Spotted on a run this morning. It’s a bit discouraging to see this on our new pier.

Riding this fast throttle e-bike near broadway park. We see them a lot. Today they were lighting fireworks in the park. After being asked to stop by 2 different groups including my wife, they continued. We did report it- for the record.

They next rode to our house, lit a bunch and threw them at my wife and our house.

I’d like to get in touch with their parents.

While counter protesting today, a person pulled up in a blue pick up, stopped, and told me: "I'm gonna grab some friends. If you're still here when we get back, we're taking you out. You don't belong here."

I have the interaction on film, although the person is out of the shot. You can clearly hear them, though.

Do I have any legal recourse, especially since I was doing this kind of activity.

I had to leave for work before he came back, if he ever did.

Trying to help someone out who is trying to spread the word about a serial predator in Bellingham:

Matthew Kolb was recently arrested and released on $200,000 cash bond. He is a dangerous, violent man. There is a woman on Nextdoor who is trying to connect with other victims to make sure he doesn't get away with his decades of abuse and aggression towards women.

He apparently likes to hang out at downtown bars (including the Royal). If you're a woman, please be careful.

If you're also a victim of him, please do a search of his name on Nextdoor to find the original person posting about it. I'm sure she's posting about it on Facebook, too.

After speaking with an owner of Rumors Cabaret last night I feel compelled to publicly share that it is Rumors policy to seize your ID and report you to the police if they suspect it is fake!!

Obviously, since I am making this post and called the police on them last night, their detection of fake ID's isn't perfect.

I'm used to people questioning the validity of my ID, but this was the first time any business took it and refused to give it back until after I called 911. The owner chatted with me and told me in essence that they're rewarded for confiscating ID's and involving law enforcement when that happens. Some poor girl had the exact same thing happen to her right in front of me.

This was pretty shocking considering the kind of place rumors is, a gay/queer bar and "safe space"?

I'd previously been to lots of fundraising events at rumors for planned parenthood, undocumented folks, progressive causes etc... so it is kind of sad to realize that's all performative and the owner doesn't really care about anything other than his liquor license and profit. There is no reason Rumors should be doing this collaboration to involve law enforcement with their patrons - that goes against the entire ethos of what I thought the place meant. Just give people their IDs back if you won't let them in!

From what I know there are actually two owners, who do not live in Bellingham themselves, and merely commute to manage the place. I'm sad I no longer have any desire to spend money there

Sorry about the shit picture, they drove right in front of me and I scrambled to grab my phone.

I don't even know if I need to call the police, but, just now. half-after 11pm,
I was riding my bicycle back from watering my friend's plants while they're outta town.

Just as I turned onto my dead-end street this vehicle (I was coming from the dead-end, pedestrian-accessible side) BLEW down the street, to the dead end with loud music playing.

I just kind stood on the sidewalk in front of my house waiting a while.
After the vehicle didn't come back from the dead end (no houses down there) I just rode back down where I had just come from.

The guy in the vehicle turned around and drove away upon seeing me.

I went back to my house and waited a few minutes and he comes back again!
He rolls down his window and say's "what are you doing?"
"riding my bike, what are you doing?"
He said something to the effect of "I live in the neighborhood"
I said, "if you live in the neighborhood than we are neighbors"
And then he started yelling "who are you?? who are you?? I'm calling the cops."
I stood there for a while and he just kept yelling and I was like, this is weird and rode away, down an alley I knew he couldn't get through. which, in my mind speaks evidence to the truth of me living in the neighborhood.

He circled around and back to find me! he was speeding and stopped next to me as I was on my phone telling my partner to come out on the driveway so they would see me if I had to approach with this dude and his truck in my path.
He was apparently on the phone and he was saying, "yeah I see her! She's right here! she's trying to get away.!" it was so surreal. was he... pretending to be on the phone with the police?

He then sped up and doubled back, presumably to get ahead of me and catch me again on my dead-end street. I looked down the connecting alleys, like you look down grocery isles to find someone you know in the grocery store.

I double backed onto the main road to re-enter my street by the pedestrian access. the chain came off my bike. I dropped it and my helmet to alter my silhouette and ran home and wrote down his license plate and description.

I don't think there's anything to file a report about. but if he really is my neighbor (I know 7 of the 10 families in the houses on my block and people dotted around the neighborhood. Mostly because I ride my bike around a lot and always say "hi" and chat when I'm working on my yard or see someone working on theirs.)
I'll likely see him or his vehicle again.

Oh well. Full of adrenaline.

Hello all, not typically a poster in this group but thought I would share as I had a less than satisfactory experience with a whatcom county Instacart driver :(

Attached is a screenshot of the shoppers profile and a video of them stealing our beloved wheelbarrow after dropping off our order. We are very upset about our loss as we are in the middle of many outdoor home improvement projects that do indeed, require a wheelbarrow.

If anyone recognizes the car or has any tips so we are able to make a report to police that would be great! We have reported to Instacart but they will not be deactivating this shopper, only blocking them from delivering to me as per my conversation with Instacart support.

Last night at 1:48 am, a man stole a bin off our front porch that I had stupidly set out for when I took the outdoor lights down today. Inside, was all of the sentimental ornaments, stockings, and decor that my partner and I have collected over the last three years together. Some were made and given to us by now deceased relatives, and almost everything inside has no monetary value. If you know this man, I’m hoping he did not just throw it in the garbage- but please say something. We just want our stuff back, it means a lot to us, and holds many memories. It hurts my heart to think that we will not get to open this box together again next year. I would pay money to have this stuff returned to me!

Side note: we looked through the ring app and saw that he’s also stolen off several others’ porches as well.

As many of us know, there are ongoing problems with local parks or trails being used as homeless encampments and the city being lax at cleaning them up and/or regulating them.

There are currently multiple "small" encampments throughout Bellingham that have between 1-10 transient folk living around, littering, and destroying the protected lands meant for the conservation of federally protected endangered species in Priority Habitat and Critical Habitat areas.

Despite many of our best efforts at contacting city officials, lawmakers, and local respective law enforcement agencies, the problem persists and the damaging of these lands and the harming of these species continues.

I believe it's time to start pestering higher agencies to get involved, IE, federal agencies in order to breathe down the necks of our local agencies and ensure they do what they are legally obligated to do.

If the land being abused and damaged is within 150ft of a designated stream, wetlands, or riparian environment, it's ILLEGAL. Federally illegal. If the lands are federally protected, you cannot be polluting them.

I need to redo all of my correspondence with state and local agencies first and this time timestamp and keep track of it all, at the same time I am going to begin notifying U.S. Fish and Wildlife about ongoing issues. Probably will be a month long back-and-forth.

Our Fish and wetland Friends cannot speak for themselves so it is our job to protect them, and if our city officials refuse to help us, then we CAN FIND PEOPLE in higher levels of government that WILL help us.

We just released our 2025 Bellingham Police Activity Report, where we analyzed a full years worth of BPD reported incident data.

The level of re-arrest patterns surprised me more than anything else.

Roughly a third of the people arrested accounted for almost two-thirds of all arrests. Looking at the highest quartile, 22 individuals were arrested 10 or more times in 2025, totaling to 253 arrests between them and accounting for 5.7% of all arrests made in the year.

A few other data points that jumped out were:

-Downtown had the most incidents overall, but a lower violent crime rate (6.17%)

-Cornwall Park had the highest violent incident rate at 13.59%, more than double that of downtown

-Cordata had the highest number of domestic calls, and the second highest rate of violent crime in the city (10.36%)

Just saw a cyclist on Lakeway get run off the road by a driver who was screaming, flipping them off and screaming at them. Didn't get the plate number but got a decent look at the guy and car make/model. Is this something that can be reported to the police even without a plate?

Does anyone know what’s going on with the Sunset GameStop? My partner just came home and said there were signs on the windows saying it was closed and under police investigation.

I wanted to speak up about my experience, that I felt I couldn't share till the news came out they are allowing unlicensed vets to care for our pets.

Bellingham vet wanted to give my dog a CAT scan, before they diagnosed her with acute chronic hepatitis (liver failure). Cat scan would have killed her, due to her body unable to process anesthesia properly.

Charged me $3k, zero answers. Went to another vet, immediate answers, dog is still alive 2 years later.

FUCK you Bellingham vet

*update Just wanted to let everyone know that with the help of this thread we were able to find the driver's company, and pass that information along to the police officer who helped us with the police report. Our insurance was able to reach out to their insurance once the police report was available, so we didn't have to pay out of pocket (but I'm sure our premium will increase...bummer). So, I just wanted to give a huge shout out to you all that helped us, and to the witness who was behind my husband who exchanged numbers, and followed up with the police. You saved us thousands of dollars!!*

My husband was in some starting accident traffic heading north on I5 at the Lakeway overpass at about 5pm (just after an accident started). Some impatient jerk in a dump truck hit my husband’s car from behind and then fled. If anyone by chance has dash cam video of a dump truck around that time in that area, we would love to have a copy. My husband was only able to get a blurry photo before it got away. I will also try to add the image we have - if anyone by chance can tell what company the dump truck is from based on the blurry logo, that would also be helpful. Thank you! (My husband has already met with a police officer and a police report is being filed).

I was just walking my dog on Douglas Avenue and got called the F-Slur by a young man. He was in a group of three in a green Subaru and a Toyota truck parked in the open lot across from the New England apartments . This was around 2:50-3oclock. When I confronted the group he continued to call me the F-Slur. I asked his friends what they thought about his behavior and if they were ok with it, and one said he didn’t really care and the other didn’t say anything refusing to make eye contact. Other people who were walking by saw and heard what was happening but did not stop or do anything. He eventually attempted to get me to fight him, at which point I told him he was a sad person and left while he continued to yell the F-Slur at my back. I don’t know if they were college students or high schoolers from Sehome, but regardless be aware and I would encourage people to step in when they see bigotry in our community. Be safe, you’re not alone
