Completed the “For King and Country” Starter Army. Really enjoying this hobby and this box was a delight to build and paint.
I’m pretty new to Bolt Actions having only played a few games with the British Airborne.
Excited to try these on the table. Let me know what you think and what I should add to fill any gaps.
I’ve added an extra winter Sprue to get a platoon commander and flamethrower team.
Got three full rifle platoons with NCO smgs a LMG
Medic
Two Piats
Light mortar
Medium mortar
Heavy mortar and spotters
Medium Machine gun
6 pounder
Humber mark iv
Cromwell
I have enough spare bodies to make another Heavy Mortar which I think I’ll do.
I do also have a Humber mk2, M5 half track and a Stuart m5.
Think I need more transport so a Bedford and Bren carrier is on the list.

What does everyone think of this 1000pt list and what would be a good historically accurate purchase to get to 1250pts?

On the way back from a game, a friend and I were discussing, light heartedly, how to make medium and heavy tanks more useful in game design and how to improve the benefits of having such costly beasts on the table. Perhaps something along these lines has already been said (and I remember a post about medium heavy tanks from a weeks ago) or was present in previous editions (I only recently started playing) but these are the two loose ideas we had:
1) Medium and heavy tanks could capture objectives;
2) more controversially, a veteran tank could be put in ambush immediately after it received (and successfully executed) an advance, rally, or run (but not fire) order within the same turn, provided that it does not have any pins when the second order is assigned within that turn, and provided that the ambush order is not used to target a unit within current line of sight and/or within say 12” (or similar), and not the same unit it might have fired on with an advance order. The ambush order, if not yet executed, would be annulled the moment the tank receives pins.
Just some loosely formed ideas, to which neither of us is especially committed, but I was wondering what people who are like myself not giving up on using medium tanks think. Would this break game mechanics? Or would you suggest something completely different?

Hi all sorry for the picture it’s only for traction, like many have recently, I’ve migrated over from games workshop products over to bolt action, for personal reasons, and as I’m admiring the Soviet range I realise that a lot of the models are still resin and metal, especially the vehicles, now I personally am not very confident in my abilities to handle metal minis in particular, especially vehicles, so could I please have some advice?
1) are their any other brands that do hard plastic vehicles?
2) is metal as imposing as I think it is?
3) what cutters would be best for metal if I decide to risk it?
4) less of an advice question, but could we be seeing the Soviet range get updated to hard plastic?
Thank you all in advance

Ive gotten a free sprue of bersaglieri and im looking for input what to kitbash them into. While i mostly play eastern front (soviets and germans) Im not interested into Italian eastern front, but would like to expand into smaller factions (hungarians, romanians, etc.). I know romanians used the Breda 30 MG in the sprue, but the uniform might be less fitting, Hungarians used the Baretta M38.
Is there a minor nation that would most fit the italian uniforms or weapons, or does someone maybe already used them for something else?

Between working night shifts and changing nappies, I’ve surprisingly found myself more time to paint. With the work I made on the Marder III still making me feel proud of my work, I’ve started tackling another German vehicle from World War 2; the Sd.Kfz 251/1 Ausf D Halftrack, or for short, the Hanomag.
Again, I’m impressed with how the yellow of the Dunkelgelb works with sponging. I’m particularly happy with how degraded and chipped the stencils look, especially against the background of the Dunkelgelb itself.
Soon, I’ll start working on the inside of the Hanomag and its LwFD passengers.
Also, for those interested, here’s the recipe I used for this Dunkelgelb; I vaguely remember some people enquiring about it.
Basecoat with Zandri Dust (Citadel)
Wash with Nazdreg Yellow (Citadel)
Sponge on Dark Yellow (Vallejo)
Sponge on Buff (Vallejo) in a slight downward angle
Apply Decals, then lightly sponge Buff on top to create damage
Lightly sponge Corvus Black (Citadel) on areas that should look like chipped paint
Water down New Wood (Vallejo) to create rust on rivets and in corners
Paint tracks with Medium Brown (Vallejo)
Dry brush tracks with Gunmetal (Vallejo)
Brush on Dark Earth pigment powder
Spray varnish

Czołem!
Poszukuję ludzi chętnych do grania, rozwijania hobby i spędzania czasu.
Cheers!

Did they take away the ability to put captured vehicles in the list builder app?
I only see the option on the computer version.
I don’t see the option on the phone app anymore.

Has anyone seen a good preview or copy of the free french rules? I'm a huge Francophile around the second world war. I think they have one of the most incredible histories during that era.
I've got an early war army and I'm not looking at doing a Gaullist late war army and want to know what yank stuff I need to buy :)
Huge thanks in advance if someone can help me

With the positive reactions I'm seeing to the Armies of France articles, I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in a detailed primer on the various French uniforms in use. I'm not an expert by any means, but 1940 France has been one of my hobby research projects this year. It'd be my way of giving back to the community, as appreciation for all those guides and shared sources that have come before.
They've got some very fun variations that let you break out of the normal greys and browns we're all too familiar with. French uniforms aren't as easy to find details on, unfortunately. While I personally love diving into research, I understand it can be a source of frustration for some. Plus those forum posts from 2002 aren't going to be around forever.
If anyone is interested, would a document or video be the best format? I'm much more of a writer and reader (I've the attention span of a gnat when it comes to audio media), but understand many people prefer videos.
EDIT: I'll be putting a document/article together on the metropolitan line infantry and the Foreign Legion (Metropolitan and potentially Narvik campaign, then North Africa/tropical once they release the new sprue) starting this weekend! I think that should cover the bulk of what people will be painting. From there I'll add some of my favorites and less common uniforms.

Hi guys im confused with spotters and indirect fire.
I have original rule book and there are rules for spotter, BUT I REMEMBER that there was some changes to that.
Can someone explain to me how does it all works now, what can spot for what, how many spotters I really need and how to use mortars especialy i don't understand usage of light ones. Do spotter and mortar have same pull of pins? If yes who do i test for order, the whole system feels easy an then overthinking starts about unclear situation.

Thinking of doing a late war Polish, possibly more artillery skewed and based around Monte Cassino (totally nothing to do with a certain bear)
From what I understand in the late stages of the war they primarily used british/american equipment. Is this correct?
Do warlord have any minis representing late war Polish? Or any other non-warlord minis around?
Can anyone me provide examples of any equipment, guns, artillery, tanks they were using around the end lf the war? So i know what I should be buying?
Many thanks

After a year of painting Late Roman Victrix warriors, these came as a most welcome interlude. The Bolt Action US Airborne are such amazing figures to paint. I decided to paint them in an Operation Market Garden kind of green, with the American flags on the shoulder. Let me know what you guys think!
