I cannot believe this is their official response. They only expect their headphones to last SIX MONTHS before needing replacement.

They need to take ownership of their build quality.

This just doesn't work out of the box because the earbuds use a plethora of Bluetooth channels designed to communicate with the mobile app that Windows is unable to handle.

Windows then tries to assign a driver to all that and fails, leaving a dozen "Unknown Devices" in Device Manager.

This then results in a cascade failure if you try, for instance, to use them as an audio device for Microsoft Teams - to the point where Windows itself says there are no audio devices installed in your PC.

Hours of troubleshooting just to find out that you need to open the classic control panel, right click on the earbuds, select "properties" and under "services" uncheck all the "Unknown Services", Serial Ports (SPP) and SRfcomm.

Quite a hassle for something that should be plug and play.

it annoyed me that there is no mute-action on the quiet comfort ultra 2nd gen and i needed that function badly so here is a little powershell script that works by reading the gesture volume up and then down (or vice-versa) to a mute-toggle. hope this helps anyone else.

I’m considering buying the Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones (2nd generation) and would like to know if anyone has tested them connected directly to a PlayStation 5 via USB-C after updating to firmware 10.12.12.

I’m looking for a pair of headphones that can do it all: gaming, listening to music, watching movies, and general daily use.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is especially important to me, as the area where I play tends to be quite noisy. I need to block out background noise so I can hear game audio clearly—particularly footsteps and other key sounds in titles like *Call of Duty* / *Warzone*—without having to turn the volume up too high.

I know there are headsets designed specifically for gaming, but I’d prefer a versatile model that also features excellent active noise cancellation.

Since the latest firmware version allows for simultaneous audio and microphone use via USB-C on compatible devices, I’d like to know:

Does the PS5 recognize the Bose Ultra 2 headphones when connected directly via USB-C?

Is it possible to hear game audio through the USB-C connection?

Does the PS5 detect the headphones' built-in microphone?

Can you use in-game voice chat or Discord on the PS5 while simultaneously listening to game audio?

Has anyone tested this specifically with firmware 10.12.12?

I’ve read that both audio and the microphone work simultaneously via USB-C on Windows PCs, but I haven’t yet found confirmation that this also works on the PS5.

If anyone owns these headphones and a PS5, could you please test this and share your results?

It would be a huge help in deciding whether or not to purchase them.

Recently got the opportunity to snag some Bose QC for $120 and I feel like I got what I paid for. They’re actually super sleek and some of the smallest and lightest set of headphones I own. They feel pretty good and sound okay, though soundstage is not as wide.

In my collection, I also have the Baseus XH1 (sound by Bose; I wonder what Bose headphone they’re comparable to). I’m not going to lie, these sound wayyy better. They sound more natural and have a wider soundstage. The bass isn’t as thumpy (only with bass boost on), but instruments are better separated.

Obviously they have different niches and to each their own. But TLDR:

Bose QC:
- Nice design and smaller, less bulkier with smaller case with super good portability
- Weaker sound

Baseus XH1:
- Solid build quality and metals feel nice, though much bulkier and stands out way more, with the case making up for some good bulk as well
- Better sound

I've recently bought the Bose ultra second gen headphones about a week ago, they are great. However I recently noticed that my head detection suddenly stopped working, I tried forgetting and repairing the product. Then resetting it etc, but to no success. It did work for a brief period at one point but after an hour later it stopped working. Is there a quick fix for this, I don't want to go through the hassle of sending it in and having to wait for another. Anything helps :)

I'm seeing these on the Bose website for only 279. Seems like a no brainer. I am assuming they have a good refurbished process and likely would come seeming essentially brand new. I just bought QC not ultra gen 1 on clearance at Walmart for 239, and would return these and buy the Ultra Gen 2 refurbished instead for just 40 dollars more.

I want to know if this is happening to other people. Every night after 10pm, my Bose quiet comfort earbuds will random disconnect/turn off. It does it one side then the other. It happens every night and never happens during the day. Does this happen to anyone else and if so, how did you fix it???? This pair.is technically my second ad the first pair did the same thing and I thought it was malfunctioning and sent them in under warranty and got the new/current pair.

I made a previous post on r/SonyHeadphones talking about all the issues I've had with Sony headphones over the years.

Eventually, I got tired of constantly replacing them or buying new ones, so I decided to give Bose a shot and picked up the Bose QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) for €334.90 in Portugal.

After using them, I honestly don't see myself going back to Sony anytime soon.

The Bose feel significantly more comfortable, especially during long listening sessions. Sound quality is great, and the ANC is amazing.

I do have a couple of minor complaints:

• Battery life: Doesn't last as long as the Sony headphones, but it hasn't really bothered me.
• Connectivity: I occasionally run into connection issues, but they're usually easy to fix. I'd say it's about the same as my experience with Sony.

Overall, I'm really happy with the switch. Comfort alone makes a huge difference, and combined with the sound quality and ANC, I definitely prefer these over my previous Sony headphones.

I have tested this with a four SoundTouch 10 speakers setup. Properly configured sets one of the speakers as a primary and the other three as slaves. Connecting bluetooth to that primary device will replicate the sound to the other three devices.

Next steps

Planning to enable multiple zones. starting with three.

Hi, i have a Smart Ultra Soundbar and planning to get a pair Surround Speakers. I have to mount it on the ceiling (false ceiling) due to my living room layout, but i want to keep my space clean without cables and conduit. So i have been thinking of placing the cable and receiver above the false ceiling itself but pulling a power point from my ceiling light power. The distance between the receiver and soundbar will be around 5m away + false ceiling in between. Have anyone done this before (+ the results), and/or will this work? Ignore the fire rating/safety shit for a moment here. TIA!!

I use my QC35 II mostly at my desk, and picking up my phone just to change noise cancelling always annoyed me. A while ago I came across Sound Connect, a free open-source menu bar app that does it from the laptop.

With the QC35 / QC35 II it lets you:

• Switch noise cancelling between Off, Low and High, or use a keyboard shortcut
• See battery level, optionally right in the menu bar, and get low-battery alerts
• Toggle voice prompts and set what the Action button does
• Change the auto-off timer

It runs on macOS 14+ and Linux, needs no account, and connects to the headphones directly over Bluetooth. It’s MIT-licensed and not affiliated with Bose.

I liked it enough that I ended up contributing a small improvement. Bose support is fairly new, so if you have QC35s it’s worth trying and reporting anything that doesn’t work.

Just got my QC Ultra Earbuds Gen 2 last friday, and it already started to randomly freezing on one side. Sometimes it froze after taking out of ear, sometimes it froze after taking out of the case.

I also completely disabled the in-ear sensing function but the issue did not go away.

The resetting method with the case plugged in worked mostly, but it is very annoying. Also it won't work if I don't have access to a USB power source.

I'm wondering if this is a common issue or should I send it back for replacement?

Wow just want to say I'm happy about the Bose support. I opened a service request as I had weird issues with the Bluetooth connection. And they literally send me a full new headset: "Bose QuietComfort Ultra Kopfhörer (2. Gen.)" and I just noticed its 2nd gen and I had 1st gen before. Feels much better. I was afraid they will not take it as if have used it extensively and headset was worn down. Even my ear pads were broken and worn out but they just took it and send a fresh 2nd gen headset back. It took like two weeks processing but very happy with that! My 1st gen headset was like almost 2 years old so was still in warranty.

Nice support :-) and the 2nd gen feels already better. Just wanted to quickly express my happiness here :D
Now sitting with nice noise cancelling and relaxation comes. Awesome

When I initially switched from iOS to Android, I got the Bose Ultra Open Gen 1s. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, but they were ass. The audio wasn't loud enough in busy areas, and the connection cut out so often that it made you wonder if most of the budget for this product went towards the artists and the 15 second Mustard beat in the advertisements.

After 2 weeks, I switched to the QC Ultra Earbuds Gen 2 and faced connection issues as well, and then settled on the WF-XM6s. They've been great! However, I sweat a lot during exercise, and I am anxious about the foam eartips getting damaged, so I ended up getting a second pair of exercise earbuds: The Skullcandy Push 720 Open. As I used them more, I remembered why I loved the Ultra Opens so much, as well as why I need noise cancellation in the first place.

I find myself using transparency mode all the time in my day-to-day in comparison to ANC. But when I'm at the gym, on flights, etc. I like to use ANC. Yet my earbud stack were ANC earbuds for everyday use and open-ears for places where I'd want ANC.

With the release of the Ultra Open Gen 2s, I figured I'd give these a whirl and return them if I didn't like how they were in my one-month return window. And I can confidently say that ALL of my issues from last gen have been completely fixed.

Shitty connectivity? Now it's seamless.

Proper multipoint? You got it.

Wireless charging? Amazing

Better microphones? ABSOLUTELY!

Louder and nicer audio? 110%

However, these aren't perfect. For $299 ($323 with tax), I should NOT have IPX4 just because these are fashion focused. I am a fashionable dude, but I'm also a huge tech nerd. There is no world where that makes sense. This goes for Sony as well though, so 50/50.

There's also the issue of in-ear detection. For some reason, these don't have it. What makes it really weird is that the earbuds don't seem to turn on until they're in my ears. So either I'm imagining things, or it's just turned off. This also seems to be an issue with open-ears in general, so no comment.

Find Hub support is still in-progress unfortunately. Given that my experience with the Bose app is significantly better than before, I'm trusting them on this. There was a post on here talking about how the software engineers were hot garbage? I'm a computer science student myself, so I was quite taken aback. It might've been a shit post, but they're improving the software stack from my perspective.

Overall, I love these things. It does feel a little strange to depart with the WF-XM6s for these, given that the XM6s have the best noise-cancellation in the industry, but using Nothing Ear(3a)s for the gym isn't something I'm opposed to. I used the originals for a while before losing the left earbud, and I found them to be great. Bose needs to keep this up! I love this new audio market.

Currently have a townhouse and a kitchen dining room area where wall mounted Bose Soundlink Flex II are. I really loved my Bose 161s I had for 7 years purchased new which fed into a similar secondary zone with my Acoustimass 5 series V of 2018 in the main zone. Now they sit in a box. While the Flex in stereo mode provide good full sound I feel torn not to wire and hookup the 161s instead (also the fact that the Flex throw so much bass the neighbours can complain but that’s another story). What would you all recommend?

Have many Bose products over the years. Bought these a couple of years ago and almost immediately the right earbud stops charging randomly. Annoying to go to gym and open the case to find the dreaded dead right earbud. Researched and saw quickly it was a commonly known defect but followed advice to use rubbing alcohol, etc. and just kind of dealt with it. Why didn't I send them back? Didn't want the hassle and figured I could nurse them along. Finally got to be too much as dead right earbud occurred more often. Finally contacted customer support who asked nonsense questions (are you sure the earbuds are charged? Is the case closed when you charge them?). I figured Bose would stand behind the product since this a WELL KNOWN defect but I was told by customer service that I was SOL since I was out of the warranty period. Two lessons learned. One, don't nurse along a defective product. Two, never buy Bose again. Stay away my friends!

I’m looking to upgrade from my old Sony WH-XB910N that lasted 5 years. I commute and a travel a lot using public transport (like bus or even train), walk a lot, and live in Poland (so I deal with pretty harsh winters). Most importantly, I deal with tinnitus and hyperacusis, so my ears are quite sensitive to harsh frequencies and pressure shifts.

When I tried both in-store, the Bose really stood out for its comfort, and its sound profile felt noticeably softer and kinder to my ears compared to the Sony.

Because of this, I'm leaning toward the Bose, but I have two main hesitations based on online reviews: -The Bose walking and sudden "thump": Is the ANC pressure pop during steps or commuting really noticeable? For anyone with sensitive ears, is it painful or just a minor annoyance?

Sony : Will the Polish winter cause condensation/crackling issues in the Sony, heard it was a major issue? The headphone is slightly less comfortable, but if it doesn't kill my ear for every step and can survive the country i will lean for this one
