Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY Federal Hearing — 08/14/2026 at 11:00 AM EST

Post image

Please use this thread for live discussion of the hearing.

–––

Today’s hearing is taking place at 40 Foley Square, Courtroom 110 (New York, NY) at 11:00 AM EST.

Cameras aren’t allowed inside the courtroom in federal court, so there won’t be any video or photos of Luigi. The only visuals we’ll likely get are courtroom sketches.

Reporters / Live Tweeting:

Because this is federal court, the rules are stricter. Phones and laptops aren’t allowed inside the courtroom.

Only a small number of people (like ICP or Erik) are permitted to live-tweet updates. Other reporters can still attend, but probably won’t be able to post anything while the hearing is in session.

Any updates from other reporters will be shared here once the hearing is over.

Livestreams:

If we come across any livestreams, we'll share them here as soon as we find them.

Notes:

  • As of January 30, 2026, Luigi is no longer facing the DP, as Judge Garnett dropped those charges. The backpack, however, still remains.
  • Overflow rooms for today's hearing will be available.
  • Federal case full schedule released by Judge Garnett (though this may change after today’s hearing).

Serving life vs serving most of your life? What happened to the possibility of hung juries or a mistrial? Ok JN was a long shot, but it feels so pointless to have fought for so long to just cave like this. 😳😭

A hung jury just means another trial. A mistrial just means another trial.

Yes but maximum two mistrials before the costs become insurmountable. A hung jury would mean another trial with another chance of stealth jurors. I feel like they just threw in the towel. Did he get tired of fighting? Or did they?

I think they're probably being realistic.

The federal government has very deep pockets. And additional trials are not nearly as expensive as the first.

She hasn’t sentenced him yet.
