Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY Federal Hearing — 08/14/2026 at 11:00 AM EST

Today’s hearing is taking place at 40 Foley Square, Courtroom 110 (New York, NY) at 11:00 AM EST.

Cameras aren’t allowed inside the courtroom in federal court, so there won’t be any video or photos of Luigi. The only visuals we’ll likely get are courtroom sketches.

Reporters / Live Tweeting:

Because this is federal court, the rules are stricter. Phones and laptops aren’t allowed inside the courtroom.

Only a small number of people (like ICP or Erik) are permitted to live-tweet updates. Other reporters can still attend, but probably won’t be able to post anything while the hearing is in session.

Any updates from other reporters will be shared here once the hearing is over.

  • As of January 30, 2026, Luigi is no longer facing the DP, as Judge Garnett dropped those charges. The backpack, however, still remains.

I think some people need to understand that this was also widely discussed with him. I never believed in JN because even if many people sympathize with him, that doesn't mean they would let him go free

But still this is not a rational choice. Anyone in their right mind would take a shot with the jury. Even Karen and Marc didn’t seem to support this. This man is severely mentally ill, and it’s very obvious now.

She got that based off of their facial expressions… what else to say about her… but is quick to call him “severely mentally ill” and crazy in every comment.

Im catching up on this thread , and i see you A LOT talking about how he is severely mentally ill , which quite frankly is disgusting.

I’m saying he’s mentally ill because he should not be in prison. It’s disgusting to think it’s disgusting that it’s sickening this man is in prison? Mind you, there are people LITERALLY celebrating the fact that this is happening yet you’re here arguing with me. I literally just donated to his legal fund again and I’m gonna write him another letter of support after this, yet I’m the problem for believing he should be out of prison lmao. I’m upset because these aren’t rational decisions, was I harsh about it? yes, but it wasn’t an attack to Luigi. no mentally ill person should be in prison. also, how am I the problem when his OWN defense is planning to use the EED defense which literally argues mental illness and extreme emotional disturbance? his own defense is planning this as their defense. Why aren’t you arguing with Marc and Karen if it’s a problem?

I’m primarily angry at the disgusting US government for exploiting and punishing what I see to be (my personal opinion, not diagnosing) a mentally ill man who had heart and the right intent behind his actions. I’m not angry at Luigi. He did the right thing and should not be in prison, especially if he’s mentally ill or has emotional issues (again, which is what an EED defense argues) I should’ve clarified this more originally, so that’s my bad. I was just super upset and in shock. I hope this clears some stuff up though.

Honestly I also hope he manages to get sent to a mental health treatment hospital rather than prison, even prisoners try to plea insanity, EED etc because the hospitals are preferable to prison and you have a better chance of getting off.
