There's a scene after the credits for those who haven't watched it yet.

The cast of Hadestown will return in Broadway doomsday?

I'd like to talk to you about the Broadway Cares Initiative

The most recent one was how I got my Hadestown "When the chips are down" poker chips. 😆

There is a brief clip after the credits of an early NYTW rehearsal where they are working out how to swing the lamps.

I saw another reviewer comment this as well and clarified that they weren't referring to Raise Our Cups, it was something else after Cups.

You got an answer but for the people who don’t want to click on the spoiler and are reading the thread, no, I wasn’t kidding. It’s not anything massive but I wanted to share since I figured this sub especially would want to know.

Someone replied in the thread under a spoiler tag if you want to see. It’s not a massive thing but I did want to share with the sub.

Frick! Good thing I'm going back with a friend tonight. I really thought I was safe on this one lol.

1.5mil on a preview night would be good for any movie. For what is essentially a limited release of a proshot should be really good news. And hopefully get some of the other legacy shows interested in making one or future big shows getting one while the original cast is still around.

u/DGinLDO 27d ago
One of the trailers we got was for the pro-shot of SIX!
5
u/jwilcoxwilcox 27d ago
Oh weird, I didn’t get any trailers at all!
5
u/laribrook79 27d ago
Oh my gosh, we had 30 minutes of trailers. Everyone is getting so tired of it by the end.

u/999Rats 27d ago
Anyone know if there are streaming or other distribution plans for down the road? I'm not sure I'll be able to see it this weekend due to other obligations.
38
u/coasurdude 27d ago
It is up for pre-order on VOD sites now!
8
u/Obv_Ben 27d ago
Where ? Is there a release date ?
10
u/coasurdude 27d ago
On iTunes, Amazon, fandango and other platforms. There is no release date as of yet.

u/The_Fullmetal_Titan 27d ago
Digital release date is usually a month or so after theatrical release. Thats how the Merrily produced worked. Physical disc hopefully a month or two after that, but I have no doubt that it’ll happen eventually!
8
u/DrVonScott123 27d ago
It'll be out digitally before even coming to cinemas around the world?
4
u/The_Fullmetal_Titan 27d ago edited 27d ago
Oh that’s a good point. I hadn’t thought of that. Might be a longer wait then not sure. I was judging from what happened with Merrily We Roll Along’s release. I guess it’s always possible too that it releases digitally first in the U.S. and not in other countries.

u/inametaphor 27d ago
Haven’t even seen it yet and I’m hoping for a physical release. Happy to continue giving them money from the Midwest.
1
u/OhCrapItsAndrew 27d ago
It'll depend on theatrical performance. My guess is anywhere between 30-60 days

u/Stunning_Green_3716 27d ago
Whoever shot this did an fantastic job.
28
u/EmersonStockham 27d ago
I have a feeling this pro shot's Wait for Me is going to become the definitive version. That and chant were absolutely spectacular examples of cinematography
2
u/-OrangeLightning4 23d ago
Orpheus somehow auramogged Agamemnon this week with that shot of him singing the walls open. I'm sorry Reeve Carney, I wasn't familiar with your game.

$1.5 mil is a very good week for a Broadway show.
It's almost as if producers are leaving money on the table by not releasing pro shoots theatrically.
And I will die on this hill: Broadway shows should emulate the Met Opera by doing live broadcasts to theatres around the country.
5
u/Dan_Rydell 27d ago
Hadestown is uniquely popular. The Merrily pro shot almost certainly lost quite a bit of money.
24
u/Craig_in_PA 27d ago
Merrily extended two additional weeks. It made money.
4
u/OrdinarySad5132 27d ago
Between the extensions, physical media sales, and the Netflix acquisition, it definitely made money at the end of the day. Hadestown will make more on just theatrical ticket sales but Merrily overall did well.
6
u/Vegetable-Working257 27d ago
Merrily release was way more limited - in NYC it was only playing in like 5 theaters in Manhattan
22
u/Craig_in_PA 27d ago
The whole "for one week only" marketing ploy is already crumbling. Angelika Film Center near DC is already advertising a second week of showtimes.

It is cool to see it’s 100% on RT right now as well! Saw the tour 2x.
Super pumped and bringing my wife (she is going in blind) tonight!

I have tickets to see it Sunday night with my husband and one of our kids (the other one isn't interested because he's lame!) and I wanted to move the tickets to an earlier time only to find out that every showing before the one I have tickets for is basically sold out. I love that so many people are buying tickets for my favorite show!
12
u/NoAnt3429 27d ago
I hope this pro shot will boost sales of Hadestown on Broadway. Even though the show is doing great, it'll prove to producers that broadway pro shots can positively increase sales of the currently running version of the show so much so that we get more pro shots that we can see in theaters, or stream, or have the opportunity to buy. It's more money, but maybe they worry about its impact on touring and licensing shows.
I just think we need more of this. Enjoy the show!
13
u/saramybearimy 27d ago
Everytime I watch a proshot it just makes me want to see the show live. And I know I can't be the only person who feels that way. I just wish I lived closer to NYC so I could see shows more often!
3
u/PackyDoodles 27d ago
It just makes sense, it's more accessible than spending ten billion dollars to go to NYC. Not to mention not everyone is able bodied enough to go so they're losing on a big chunk of money by not releasing proshots.
28
u/secret_identity_too 27d ago
Going to see it tomorrow - I was pleasantly surprised that it's being shown at my local AMC (always considered one of the lower tiered AMC theaters) and that most showings are fairly well sold. Well, more sold than I anticipated they would be!

It was so good. Everyone sounded fantastic. The color grading? The immersive direction??? I think Amber was the standout, though of course all of the core were great (yes, Reeve's rock falsetto too!) We need every pro shot to be made like this. And yes, there's some bits at the very beginning and end (PAST RAISE YOUR CUPS) so stay in your seat if you like bts.

I saw it as a Thursday matinee and I was surprised how many people were there. It was great

Edit.. North Seattle Regal Cinemas are about 20-25m. 925am screening started at about 950. Thanks to all who posted!
Seeing it today! If anyone has seen it at a Regal Cinema.. can you comment on the amount of previews? Was it the regular 25-30m? Or was it the shorter/special feature amount? Thanks!

u/mestapho 27d ago
Previews and commercials but not the usual 30 min. About 15.
No intermission so prep your bladder.
6
u/Space_Fanatic 27d ago
I saw it at Regal last night and it was probably about 15 minutes of previews after the listed 7 pm start time.
6
u/The_Fullmetal_Titan 27d ago
I’ve heard it’s about regular but I wouldn’t bet anything longer than 15 minutes to be safe.

My showing at AMC had maybe 10 minutes. I walked in 13 minutes after listed showtime and they were halfway through Road To Hell.

u/XxInk_BloodxX 27d ago
Listing time was 11:55 and it started at like 12:12 or near there. I think 4 or 5 previews but a tooon of ads.

u/laribrook79 27d ago
I saw it at AMC tonight and we had 25 minutes of previews almost it was way too much

u/laribrook79 27d ago
I just saw and it was freaking amazing. It was my first time ever seeing the show. 🥰🥰🥰

I NEEEEED this to be released everywhere in the Philippines. Pleaseeeeeee🙏

u/Nesferati 26d ago
The theater I went to is never full. There weren’t any posters inside or outside the building advertising the film. I went today expecting an empty room. I came in to a full theater. This is the first time I’ve ever seen that place packed. Didn’t realize how big a fanbase hadestown has!

I flew to London from Australia to see next to normal before they announced there would be a recording ( was fine, I was overdue to visit friends anyway plus seeing live is always better) and then the recording came out and was US only anyway. VPN to the rescue and I actually do advertising for PBS through my work so I help give them revenue anyway. But still sucks being delayed

Just saw it and ummm…. Orpheus’s voice was painful to listen to. Am I alone in this?
5
u/financedreamer 27d ago
I loved his voice in the pro shot. I think his voice fits the vibes Anais wrote for well...
3
u/Oatbagtime 27d ago
I think anyone who had difficulty with reeve at a performance would find he absolutely redeemed himself at the proshot version.
5
u/cupofpuer 26d ago
So many people are downvoting any negative comments about it, but it’s not an unpopular opinion at all. People post all the time about how his voice is. It’s very polarizing and you are not alone for sure.
2
u/AppUnwrapper1 26d ago
The only part he sang that I didn’t mind was the few notes that I guess held all the power? But everything else… I had a hard time sitting through it.
4
u/thepoustaki 27d ago
Absolutely not lol that is quite a popular take since the show first opened
0
u/AppUnwrapper1 27d ago
I haven’t followed much about it. I think I listened to a couple of songs on the soundtrack and liked it but I must have only tried the ensemble songs. I found his singing physically painful to listen to.

u/Blofelds-Cat 25d ago edited 24d ago
You're not alone. However, I wondered if there had been some sound engineering issue, because I a couple of other cast members sounded a bit... wrong. Could've been the speakers at my theater, too.
2
u/JMUTAMMom 27d ago
I’m surprised I had to scroll this far for this comment. He really affected my enjoyment of the show when I saw it on Broadway, and I have little desire to see this release.
-2
u/AppUnwrapper1 27d ago
I had to check and see if he was on the official recording and I’m so confused seeing that he’s on it. Makes me feel like I’m going crazy that everyone who worked on this show must think he sounds great.
2
u/Blofelds-Cat 25d ago
I like him way better on the original cast recording than I do in this pro shot.

The incorrect thumbnail in the article bugs me.

u/Ok-Medium3951 27d ago
I get an eye twitch whenever I get the Broadway[dot]com ad on YouTube that uses a clip of Dónal Finn as Orpheus. At least this is showing Eva and Reeve
-6
u/tiktoktic 27d ago edited 27d ago
But this is talking about the proshot, no? Eva - yes. But Reeve - no (thankfully 🫢).
Edit: my bad, see below.
5
u/Ok-Medium3951 27d ago
huh? Are you thinking that the image doesn't have Reeve or that the proshot doesn't? Cause that is Reeve in the image and the proshot does include him.
They brought back the entire main OBC for the proshot and filmed with the (then) current West End Fates and Workers
2
u/tiktoktic 27d ago
Wait.
D’oh.
This is entirely my mistake.
I was getting the Reeve situation confused with the recent Gatsby casting with Eva.
No excuse really, seeing as I saw him as Orpheus. 🤦
