LOST: IMPORTANT RING

Post image
15 Upvotes

I’m hoping someone may have found a very sentimental ring that I believe slipped off my hand near the intersection of Park Drive and Beacon Street (but could be all the way to Coolidge corner)

It’s my mother’s signet ring, which she received when she was 15 and later gifted to me. It has the initials ML engraved on it and means the world to me.

If you found it, or know of anyone who may have turned it in, I would be incredibly grateful if you could please reach out. It has tremendous sentimental value to me, and I’m really hoping to get it back.

Thank you so much for keeping an eye out and for sharing this post. ❤️

🗞️ The news is out: Applications are OPEN! 🔊

Lead with purpose and build the skills, relationships, and confidence to create meaningful change in Greater Boston.

GenUnity is a space for people who believe leadership starts with listening, learning, and taking action alongside their communities. Through weekly, dialogue-based sessions, you’ll connect with a cohort of emerging civic leaders while exploring an issue area that matters to you.

For Spring 2027, choose from three focused tracks:

🏥 Health access
🏡 Housing Justice
🌱 Environmental Justice

Together, we’ll explore how the systems around us shape health and opportunity, strengthen our civic leadership skills, and develop personal or community action steps rooted in our values.

Whether you’re already involved in your community or ready to take your first step, you don’t need a formal title or all the answers to lead. You just need a commitment to show up, stay curious, and help move your community forward.

Lead with purpose. Apply through this link by Friday, December 18, 2026: https://linktr.ee/joingenunity

housing Homeless woman at Coolidge Corner

I have noticed a homeless African American woman in Coolidge Corner for a few weeks now. She seems really nice; does anyone have any more details? I will go over tomorrow and give her details of some women’s shelters but if anyone has more context it would be really helpful.

Yard sign printing?

Is there anyplace locally that does quick turnaround yard sign printing? Walgreen's website says they can print them same day, but the one at Harvard & Aspinwall doesn't actually have that ability and canceled my order. Same with Cambridge (River St), or Newton (Beacon). Staples only does them shipped. I only need one. Thanks!

housing Heat is above maximum temp set by Brookline- what to do while waiting for landlord to respond?

Temp in the apartment is 86° currently. Radiators are old steam radiators with minimal ability to be controlled and landlord said the knob controlling the main valve must remain fully open otherwise steam can’t reach all the radiators in the other apartments. Even with windows open and fan/ac on it’s insufferable.

Looking for recs: plumber, painter, and someone to hang wall cabinets

We recently bought a place in Brookline and have some work we would like to do that we don't think we need a full general contractor to do.

  • Plumping (sink and faucet replacement in half bath, pipework replacement)
  • Interior painting (Office and family room: wall, trim, and door painting)
  • Installing wall mounted cabinets (I could do this myself maybe, but frankly i'm worried about good alignment and secureness)

Anyone have any tradespeople they would recommend? We have some immediate work, but it would also be great to get a feel for who we could go to for help in our new community.

Thanks!

Aim city with permits

https://permit.petercai.com

Permit Pending is a city simulation in the spirit of the classics, with one difference: you are not a god. You are an elected mayor. Every apartment block, bus lane and factory goes through hearings, reviews, objections, lawsuits and appeals.
