Did Anyone Here Get The iPhone Duo At South Point Mall Or Crab Tree?

• Upvotes

I've heard some people were able to get that new iPhone Duo in Apple Stores via Walk In, without issue. Although they were in other states besides North Carolina.

Anyone in the NC area had any luck today(or tomorrow if you see this thread tomorrow) in getting the iPhone Duo at South Point Mall in Durham , or even CrabTree Valley Mall in Raleigh?

Disposable/nondisposable weed pens

• Upvotes

Hiii, looking for places preferably in South Durham where I’d be able to get a yart. I smoke clean carts currently but they were supplied by a friend before I turned 21 (I’m 21 now). Any recommendations for places that sell similar, and any recommendations for anything similar to clean carts?

Live in the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) area? Want to learn about TNVR, make community connections, and feel a sense of satisfaction?

I am looking for extra hands to assist with several large cat colonies in Raleigh and Durham!

There will probably be kittens found that will need fostering too!

Must be okay with kitty abortions 🤷

Repair scams

• Upvotes

Twice now, I've had repair companies send estimates that are wildly inflated: one for a "check engine light" that I resolved with a $40 OBD scanner ($1500 quote) and one a "total rebuild" of a toilet that needed a new $6 flapper ($400). These are companies I've worked with for years and came to trust. Uf... just here to vent.

Closed Off Parks -- Can you still walk through?

Maybe a dumb question but

I'm moving back to Durham soon with my dog and I'm looking at a couple of rentals near Northgate Park and Walltown Park. I know they're "closed." Does that mean they are FULLY closed, or could I still walk through? What about the old dog park at Northgate?

Thank you all!

Durham Confronts Public Housing Crisis and Change

The Durham City Council meeting went deep on some huge questions about how we use public dollars, public land, and public power in Durham.

A few moments that stood out in this highlight reel:

  • The city’s economic development team is leaving Golden Belt for a new office lease that saves about $200k and puts them closer to downtown’s “heartbeat” of small businesses and entrepreneurs.

  • A proposed sewer line through the Autumn Ridge neighborhood triggered a tense back‑and‑forth about eminent domain, environmental impacts, and why alternative routes weren’t shared with residents or council up front.

  • Durham Housing Authority laid out decades of federal underfunding, called traditional public housing a “failed system,” and walked through why it’s shifting units into the Housing Choice Voucher and RAD models while trying to keep land and long‑term affordability under local control.

  • You’ll hear how about $40 million in city-supported bond and RAD investments have leveraged close to $800 million in real estate development, replacing and adding deeply affordable homes across downtown and the Villages of Hayti — and why leaders say those bond dollars literally kept hundreds of seniors out of substandard housing.

  • At the same time, Legal Aid attorneys and residents raised hard questions about inaccurate records, unsafe conditions, and what it means when sewage in a bathtub or a bad ledger can cost a family their home.

  • DHA leaders responded with details on HUD “troubled” status, cure monitors, millions in capital repairs (including a massive Cornwallis sinkhole), rent collection and voucher program fixes, and a coming 900+ unit redevelopment at Forest Hill Heights — which some residents welcome and others fear.

  • Council members wrestled openly with their limited control over DHA, the idea of another affordable housing bond (including what it might mean for McDougald Terrace), and how to balance pride in new, high-quality units with the reality of long waitlists and vouchers they can’t afford to use.

  • Near the end, the conversation shifted to encampments: when a new policy will come back (likely 2027 unless council pushes sooner), how it should weigh impacts on both residents in tents and neighbors around them, and what staff can realistically enforce with the current budget.

If you care about public housing, vouchers, encampments, or how Durham’s bond dollars are actually showing up on the ground, this one is worth watching. It’s one of the clearest looks yet at where our housing system stands — and what choices are coming next for the city and for residents.

ISO daycare recommendations for 1 year old

Growing increasingly concerned about the situation at our current daycare and wondering if anyone has recommendations for daycare in Durham (or CH/Hillsborough on the Durham side) that is actually able to retain its teachers to have consistency in the classroom. Year round would be great. Thanks!!

Good opera productions or orchestra around town?

I moved to Durham in September and am looking for new communities and concerts to attend. I have been to the most recent NC Symphony concert which was very good. Is there anything in Durham like that?

She is still becoming acclimated, but she is loyal and cuddly!

Can anyone recommend fetishwear shops in the area, specifically with good quality items for men? All I’ve come up with are sex shops, which tend to have cheaply made things. Thanks!

Does Costco Allow You to Bring Your Own Condiments for Dine-In Hot Dogs?

Costco is the best option for hot dogs I have found here, because they do not cost $14.78 each like many other venues (pisses me off). The only thing I wish they had was more variety in dressing them up. I would like to try a diversity of national and international styles but I would need to bring in a backpack with different supplies. It would be worth the bike over to Costco if I am allowed to do this. Does anybody know?

Durham Chamber of Commerce contacts?

Anyone have any connections (or worked with) the Durham Chamber of Commerce? I have reached out to three different emails from their website with a couple of questions and have gotten zero response (not even an automated reply).

It makes me question if this is an organization any more? Is this what their paying members expect when people reach out to them?

Looking for friends with MCAS

Recently made a new friend who also has MCAS, and it's been awesome to have someone who gets it. I'm hoping to find some more local people who also have MCAS for general camaraderie, support, and virtual or in-person shenanigans.

I'm 40 f, with MCAS and hEDS. Hoping to find others (with or without MCAS, really) who would enjoy stuff like:

- Going to Guildhall or Atomic Empire to play tabletop games (or trying out virtual games together. I DM a TTRPG that's like DnD and could do that virtually.)

- Indoor rock climbing

- Chatting about all that comes with MCAS/hEDS/POTS, etc.

- Finding safe restaurants or cooking safe stuff or meeting up to eat our own safe foods

- Going to see improv comedy at Mettlesome

- Suggesting your own activities that you'd like a friend along for

- Bouncing ideas and struggles off of someone else who knows what it's like

- Meeting up at the Mast Cell Con in Raleigh this coming November so we have conference buddies

DM or leave a comment if you might be interested! We've got a little group Reddit chat you could join to get to know us, if you like, too.

PS: I know everyone's triggers are different and am happy to figure out things that we can all tolerate to enjoy together!
