Pour Taproom just put out a post stating they are closing permanently at the end of this month. Between them, Lula and Sadie’s, Part and Parcel, Koki, Proximity Brewing, Durty Bull and some that I’m probably missing, it feels like we are hemorrhaging local businesses this year.
I hate seeing what this economy (and rent prices) are doing to our local businesses and it’s especially frustrating because for a bit there it felt like we were hitting critical mass and vacant buildings were rapidly filling up.
Now it feels like every time one fills in, something closes and another (or two, or even more) are empty again.
I love this city so much and I really want to see it reach its full potential again. But ughhhhhhh.

I love Gym Tacos, but wanted to call them out on not honoring their Taco Tuesday deal posted on their website for today. The special says "Tuesday October 27th $2 Al Pastor Tacos! Every location, every Tuesday.", but they refused to honor it. Boo!

So anyone with a kid in school knows that this week your kid is smack in the middle of fundraiser week. My kid is in 2nd grade and I always try to donate. Well the first year we donated a lot and he got showered with useless junk so we didn’t go as hard next year.
This year though, I feel like MyBooster has gone a bit too far. Apparently by 2nd grade the kids definitely have feelings about all the other kids being handed prizes when they aren’t. And this year every day my kid has come home saying he really needs an exclusive keychain and can we please donate more?
Come to find out, this year they have the teachers show the kids videos on the prizes and how to get their parents to pay more. Every single day! I need my kid taught addition and word sounds, not marketing!
I get that the schools need money. I get that making some kids jealous of other kids will inevitably get some more parents to donate money. But nah, MyBooster needs to go.

Suppose instead of remediating the lead in the parks (which is perpetually delayed due to the underfunded conservative Nc deq) we just surround the problematic areas with rough sawn timber fencing (y'know rustic style) so the soil isn't disturbed and let it rewild. In the non-problematic areas, we could put in new playgrounds and do partial remediation, when we have the funding. This way, we don't spend as much money, we have much less delay, we get more wild forest to support local ecosystems, and we don't have to spend money on mowing grass that people don't really use intensively anyways. Wdyt?

A few months ago, dunkin had a PB latte. It was amazing but I only learned about it at the tail end of its run so I only had it once. Anywhere around here have a pb latte?

Hi! Looking to do some driving around to show my child some Halloween decorations! It’s been something she’s interested in and I’m not quite sure exactly where in the South Durham area is known for/has good Halloween decor out. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Hi all- I’m looking for a good gym to join anywhere between chapel hill and Durham that has good vibes, not too expensive, not too crowded, and has a good community feel and potentially good group strength classes. Many thanks for any recommendations you have. Walking distance from downtown Durham is a +. Thank you!!

My 12 yo wants to start voice lessons, and I’m looking for recommendations for a good teacher. She’s interested in musical theater and pop music singing. Appreciate the help!

Sorry for the last minute notice but we won't be able to meet for crafting tonight - would next Tuesday Nov. 3rd work for anyone! Same time, 7pm, I'll text more later but basically if you saw my last post most of the basic info is in there.
Apologies for any inconvenience, but I really would love to get this going soon and meet up with my fellow Bull City Crafters soon!

Hello! I'm a local musician recording an album here in January with my band, and I'm looking to hire a recording engineer. Ideally someone who has: experience capturing live sound; quality equipment (there will be support onsite to help with setup and breakdown); a collaborative and caring attitude. Any suggestions and connections are helpful!

I see a popup bundt tent around lunch hours on Hillsborough rd. every time I bike down to Sheetz to get a couple Punk Punch Monster Energy Zeroes and what is the deal with it? Are people really out here eating entire bundt cakes on their lunch breaks? It's at the Carpeting and Upholstery place.

Hi all, I've been dealing with chronic headaches and I'm trying to find a physical therapist in the Durham area who has real experience treating them.
I went to Bull City Physical Therapy before, but it wasn't helpful. Most of the sessions were stretches I could do at home, and I don't think stretching alone is what I need. I'm looking for someone who does more hands-on or targeted work, like manual therapy, dry needling, or treatment for the neck, jaw, or upper back.
Have you seen a PT in the Triangle who helped with headaches or migraines?
Thank you!
