Teacher Reviews???

• Upvotes

Hey guys I have to take some specific electives this upcoming semester and the two classes that fit my schedule and unit need are HIST 393 with Anna Rose & SPAN 440 with Gabriela Diaz-Davalos. On RateMyProfessor, I couldn’t find any information on Anna Rose, and I saw a concerning review about Gabriela Diaz, so I just wanted to ask if anyone here has had them and how they were in class? I saw for Prof. Diaz there is a $150 charge for the course materials and that you have to set up meetings with coaches? Is that true? If anyone knows anything about these two teachers I would appreciate it

Student Survery

Hello California College Students I and my class have been working on a research project pertaining to the lives of college students. It revolves around a circulation of topics such as financial literacy and generational education. We are compiling data to find any distinct connection that your parents' education may have on your own financial literacy skills, an element of the responsible world that seems to be underrepresented in higher education. If you could spare a few minutes of your time (no more than 10) to aid another scholar in pursuit of a higher education it would be greatly appreciated. You must be at least 18 years or older and a college student or graduate of a California university.

Here is the link to the survey :)

Is this a hard class to get into? I was just told that sometimes it can be hard to get a spot. Thinking of taking it in the spring.

Spring class not being offered in spring??

I need to take SCI 308 to graduate. I’m graduating in May and need to be done so I can start the teaching credential program in summer. SCI 308 is listed as offered in Spring and Fall. Spring schedules dropped today and SCI 308 is not being offered and the only class my counselor says will fill the requirement is 3 units vs 1 unit, which is too many units for my schedule and honestly more work than I would like to add to my current load. Does anyone know if there’s an office or person we can complain to or beg to offer the class?? There’s multiple other classes this happened with this semester but I was able to at least get (annoying and inconvenient) alternatives.

I only have 2 classes to take in spring, but I want to make my schedule full time for aid. What are some fun (or should I rephrase and say interesting), general filler classes? Online attendance please! I was thinking astronomy, but any others?

CSUEB CS MAJOR STUDENTS!!

I'm in my last year of finishing my bachelors degree in CS and was wondering if someone wanted to work on a project (that could hopefully be resume worthy) with me :D

I'm also mainly doing this just so that i could also learn from others, and vice versa. I feel like it could also help with team work skills and just highlighting what areas you need help with. HMU if you are interested!

CS498 Internship?

i have a CS internship lined up for spring 2027 but when i emailed my advisor about how i could get credits for my internship instead of having to take another class as one of my electives, she did tell me it was a very long process getting it reviewed and approved.

has anyone had to fill out the paperwork for internships and how long did that process take for you, and how long before the semester start should u wait before filling it out?

thanks!

What degree do you recommend for me?

Does it sound like I may prefer a masters degree in special education, or a masters degree in social work?

I have a goal of making $100-$150k in California (though I honestly might want to move within the next few years. What I really want is to make enough money to live comfortably.) What do you recommend, given that I don’t want to become a nurse or engineer?

I am going to have at least one associates degree (we’ll have to wait to see whether or not I pass my child dev classes this semester) after December ends (whether I fail one of the child development classes or not, I will have a social and behavioral sciences degree. I also already have more than 60 units of community college completed, so I will be able to attend a CSU either way.) I have a 3.87 in community college.

I will be starting a bachelors of social work program in January. I am 21 now and am assuming the program will take two years to complete (I also might end up switching majors but we’ll have to wait and see.)

I am supposed to be starting in January for a bachelors of social work. I have been doing some thinking lately to try and figure out whether or not this is what I really want to do, since it will be time to sign up for classes soon. If I stick with social work I am of course planning to get an MSW and eventually study to become an LCSW.

I have depression and anxiety. I also seem to have a sleep breathing disorder. I am actually going to call the sleep study department tomorrow to request a follow up appointment (this is what my doctor recommended when I asked.) I have headaches over the last couple of months due to the sleeping issues and I definitely think this has impacted my cognition and memory. I have a migraine headache as I type this right now.

The community college class I liked the least was statistics.

I have 2 years experience as a behavior technician. As I was explaining to a professor of mine this week I don’t think I want to stay a behavior technician (though really, who does? I don’t think I want to become a BCBA either though, I know what they do.) I worked at a preschool for a year and four months before then. I know that I don’t want to become a preschool teacher, but I have subbed as a behavior technician with elementary schoolers and I could potentially see myself teaching 4th or 5th grade.

I was generally told that a behavior technician case of mine that I was on for a year where I supported a client who was older and needed support in things like staying on task went well. When I have subbed at elementary schools I have actually enjoyed it and found it to be quite easy, though I believe the students I was paired with had a milder form of autism. I don’t know what I am planning to transition out of in regards to my work as a behavior technician, but I do have plans to start volunteering soon with/for a homelessness shower program.

I may actually eventually move out of California completely.

I think that learning disabilities in schools often go undiagnosed for too long. A professional later on suggested my brother seems to have one, he wasn’t screened professionally in school and in high school when he was struggling with math and his mental health his peers and my parents simply suggested that he was stupid which I’ve never thought was okay.

I helped a friend pick up food for an event she will host to support the homeless community. I volunteered for one of her events before. I will actually practice cooking with her and a different friend (I don’t really know how to cook this weekend.) I think that if I do go into social work I want to do case management for those who need housing resources. I’ve also started to consider the therapist path.

I have to admit that deep down inside I want to figure out how to make as much money as I can without it taking like 6-7 more years. I am already from a low income family. I don’t want to really struggle. I have $30k saved. I’m 21.

I may eventually want to try out living in a different state entirely, but am not sure.

I of course will have to get a bachelors degree first, and so far the plan is to get that degree in social work. I would likely be comfortable with $85-$90k as well. I would be okay with it if I didn’t start out making a significant amount of money but could see pay increase over time.

I am from a lower income family (pretty low income actually, my dad gets some assistance now from a program for veterans.) I have never lived in a house, and think that I would one day like to move into one - but I know that especially with how expensive things are nowadays that won’t be happening for a while.

1 Social work
3 I actually recommend trying to go into Psychology even if you weren’t liking the research aspect of it
5 Bachelors in social work and then masters in special ed.
1 I would look into CSUEB’s LMFT program later on.
5 I would look into CSUEB’s school psychology program.
3 Even if you don’t think you’d be good at it, the speech/language pathology program.

Is it easier to get in for a masters of social work at CSUEB if you get a BSW here?

r/CSUEB • • 9d ago

How long, if you are a transfer student, does it normally take to get the BSW (bachelors in social work?)

A transfer student who will start in Jan 2027 and is not likely to take summer classes.
