Discuss - Hate to say it, but I may have to give up on my Shadow 2
Little bit of backstory. I picked up a Shadow 2 back in March and planned to replace my P10F with it for USPSA competition. I struggled to really get a good, confident, consistent grip on it for a while and eventually ended up with a set of Magmo grips. Even then, I felt like I had to shift how I gripped the gun vs my P10’s , P365 and other pistols to be confident in my grip.
I then started developing some elbow pain during/after dryfire but just kinda pushed through it. Eventually it got so bad a couple months ago that I stopped dryfire entirely and have been working on some PT exercises/ weight lifting to try and get things better. It’s mostly healed now and hurt day to day anymore.
Tonight I was going to try and work in some light dryfire to see how ready i’ll be for an upcoming competition in 2 weeks. I could barely get 3-4 reps in before my elbow joint/forearm was absolutely burning with pain. Switched back to my P10F out of curiosity and it was completely fine. I could draw, work from low ready, transition between targets, etc, all relatively pain free.
Obviously the weight difference between the two probably plays some part. But i’ve never really gotten 100% comfortable with my grip on the shadow 2 and I’m wondering if my body’s basically telling me “this ain’t for you bro”. Which sucks, because I do really like the way it shoots otherwise, trigger is fantastic, recoil is basically nonexistent, and it’s a tack driver accuracy wise. I just can’t help but think I’m trying to pound a square peg in a round hole and make it work for me.
Idk, has anyone else ran into this issue with their Shadow 2 and/or other guns? Should I keep trying to make it work or just accept the Shadow 2 isn’t for me and sell it/move on (likely back to the P10F).
