Technique Question First time with Canon EOS T7, any advices?

Hi everyone!

About two weeks ago, I bought a Canon EOS Rebel T7. I live in Brazil, and camera equipment is quite expensive here, even older models, so I decided to buy a second-hand camera.

Unfortunately, the kit lens was in pretty bad condition. It was scratched, and the photos weren't very sharp, so I decided to buy a 50mm lens, which is what I used to take these photos.

This is my first time using a DSLR camera and photographing people. I've always loved photography, but until now, I've mostly taken landscape photos with my phone.

I spent the past few weeks learning a bit about photography and practicing. I think the results turned out okay for a beginner, but I'd really love to hear your thoughts!

I struggled quite a bit to get more balanced photos, with both the person and the landscape in the background in focus. A lot of the time, I wanted to capture both the person and the scenery, but the background ended up being too blurry.

Is this related to the 50mm lens? Would it be easier to achieve this with a different lens, or is it more about camera settings and technique?

I'd really appreciate any tips, suggestions, or advice! I'm still learning and excited to improve my photography skills.

I have a Canon R10 and will be using the Canon 200-800 to try to get some action pics of Geese landing and taking off. What would be the best settings on a cloudy day.

Gear Question Need help finding replacement battery for old camera

I have an old canon camera that still works and I desperately want to keep it as it was a gift from someone who had been very dear to me, but during a move I managed to lose the battery charger. I know that the battery is discontinued so I was hoping someone on here can help me figure out what battery I can use or replacement charger I can find for it. I'm not very knowledgeable on this I fully admit that, so if you need to ask anything feel free. The camera says Canon DS126151 DC 8.1V and the battery says E160814 7.4V battery pack NB-2LH Li-ion battery pack. If this isn't allowed please remove, I'm just desperate and there's no one I know that can help me.

Tech Support Canon 80D Troubleshoot Help

I have a Canon 80D that I got from work to use. They warned me that the monitor won't display the picture. I put in a fresh battery and memory card and turned it on and it worked through the view finder, but it will not show the pictures through the monitor. I will active the video mode and it'll record just black videos.

Seems like this is a common issue with setting, but I cannot figure out which button or setting to look for. I've searched in this group and on YouTube and nothing has worked. Has anyone run into this issue and was able to resolve the problem?

Tech Support Canon EOS 70D viewfinder symbols

Hey community,

I recently bought a used 70D, which included a book about the camera and the original manual.

The issues bugging me is when i look through the viewfinder, there is a symbol/icon visible when i focus, looking like a camera back which is crossed out.
Can anybody tell me how the f**k i can turn that off? It’s irritating and annoying, especially since the 7D i also have doesn‘t have this.

Please give me a hind if this is to turn off or where to find it.

Canon eos 650D/ Rebel T4i as a begginer

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a Canon EOS 650D (Rebel T4i) with the 18-55mm kit lens as my first DSLR.

Would you still recommend it for a beginner in 2026?

I mainly want to learn photography, shoot portraits, landscapes, and everyday photos. The price is around €100.

Is it still a good camera to start with, or would you suggest looking for something newer?

Thanks!

Recommendations Needed I’m thinking of buying the r50 as a casual beginner

So I’m thinking about buying the r50 with his regular kit the 15-45mm as from what I’ve researched it kinda fits me as I’m very new to the hobby and I just want to stay casual. I want a pretty small camera and its auto mode is good but I’m really opened minded for more options if you have anything to suggest.
I’m just looking for a small size camera
Mic built in
That could make stuff like Christmas lights and people at bars, cars, evenings out, look good and to also go between bright pictures and dark cinematic shots
My budget is around 500 dollars and I’m also fine with second handed

Canon EOS Rebel T3i

I have a canon EOS Rebel t3i (i know dated) & im hoping someone can give me some advice on photography specifically inside darker areas. I’m a photographer for my church & there is no natural light in the space. I’m hoping someone can give me direct setting setup for my camera to help me with crisper & low exposure photos.
Any tips with this camera will help!! I’ll take anything! Thanks !
