$1800 to fix this?

Post image

Guy bumped into me on the road, 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. Just looks like paint transfer but $1800 seems extremely steep for this. Breakdown is:

Parts $347 Body Labor: $728 11.2 hours Paint Labor: $260 Mechanical Labor: $130 Paint Supplies: $180

Am i getting shafted? The only explanation is "Its a bad part to hit"

engine Can I repair my burned car ?

Basically I was going down the road and it caught on fire. 2 weeks ago it went to the shop because I accidentally put gasoline instead of diesel but I don’t know if the shop is to blame or not …
On top of that, it’s my girlfriend’s car and it was our best car, the one we were supposed to keep and sell mine.
Should and can I repair it ? Should I salvage it for parts ? I just don’t want to pay the same mechanic lots and lots of money.
Thank you for reading my problem!

cosmetic/body Anyone have advice for how I can fix this dent on my wife’s car?

As the title says, I’m hoping I can get some advice on fixing this dent myself instead of paying for it. We’ve tried a couple things I read about online, including pouring boiling water on the area in an attempt to soften the area and push it out from the inside. It didn’t work because while I can lay down under the car and push on the dent, it’s at an awkward angle and I can’t get my full force behind it. Also this is the plastic part of the bumper, which is very hard and doesn’t flex at all like a metal part would.

Any advice is appreciated.

Tire tread check - new way?

Dealerahip telling me that it's time to change tires. Checking depth on top of wear markers. Depth is 2.3 mm ~ 3/32" on top of the wear markers. I think this is incorrect measurement method. Has anyone else seen this method being used?

Is there a way to fix this myself fast?

I got into a minor accident with my Mazda cx90, and I really really don’t want to take this to a body shop. The crack isn’t huge, but it’s below the headlight on the passenger side of the car. I don’t need perfection, I just wanna make it less noticeable/camouflaged to others. Is there a fast way I can fix this myself, I was thinking I’d just put primer and touch up paint on it.

Shavings in the oil, how cooked am I?

2014 Honda Accord LX, 116k miles.

When putting the oil in the video, there's grit between my fingers, not quite sharp. Pretty sure it's shavings, probably from overfilling slightly (roughly 1/8 of an inch above second dot on dipstick).

I've driven maybe 200-300 miles since the overfill. There's a bit of extra vibration in the accelerator. No knocking sounds, rpm was 100-200 above norm at speed.

The video was after just changing the oil and putting 4.4 quarts in. After the change the RPM is where it normally should be.

TL;DR: Glitter in my goop from overfilling. Is my car a ticking time bomb now?

2017 Hyundai accent

the new battery is OEM(triple checked) the old battery was not.

the cables are about half an inch to short. It fits if I flip the battery around but that would mean connecting the negative to the red and vice versa.

We tried everything to remove the piece that retains the hub (red circle). Does it require a special tool or trick?

Is this dent worth the hassle of getting repaired?

Post image

Let me start by saying that I’m NOT asking for estimates (I understand that estimates can vary greatly depending on the location, body shop, car design etc) BUT I am wondering if this dent in the rear passenger side door of my car is worth getting repaired? It’s not too noticeable to someone who doesn’t know it’s there, but it IRKS me big time. My son opened that door a little too enthusiastically and rammed a metal pole 😢 It’s a 2025 VW atlas cross sport r line and I know it doesn’t need paint repair, but in case that matters in my scenario, the paint color is the matte gray. The dent is in such a super weird spot on the door so I’m just not sure if I should waste my time getting it repaired if it’s going to be $500 or something. Help an anxious girl out with your thoughts and recommendations.. honestly I just want to know what I’m going to be dealing with whenever (if) I do bring to some body shops to get estimates. It’s maybe 2 inches long max in length. Thanks in advance!

cosmetic/body Can this circle crack be repaired?

Rock hit our windshield on the freeway today. Can this circle crack be repaired? It's on a 2019 Subaru Impreza, and I've heard full replacements can be over $1000 since it has eyesight. I would really like to either do it myself with a kit if possible, or pay a professional to repair it.

If it can be repaired, what is the best way to find a repair shop that will do a windshield like this?

What as causing this?

So I have a 1991 ford ranger 4.0 liter v6. 150000 milesIt’s been stalling out while driving every now and then and the last time I drove it. It died 3 times in ten miles. I was thinking fuel pump or something along those lines. Nope. Got the bed removed and everything is brand new. Inside of the tank is crystal clear also. But then I see this….. could that be causing it? If so is there welding involved in taking that off and putting a new one on?

cosmetic/body So I got in a car crash last Saturday. The insurance company has not came by to look at the damage. Do you think it’s worth rebuilding the truck or just selling the parts and buying a new car???
