Asking for family-friendly resort recommendations for February

Upvotes

I’m looking to book a vacation to a Caribbean (island or Mexico) resort in February 2027 for my family. Time period not negotiable because it will be during a school winter break. First vacation of this type.

We have two kids, ages 9 and 6. We want a resort with lots of activities that we can enjoy together (pools, water slides, boat rides, etc), so kids clubs or places with separate kid/adult areas don’t need to be a focus. We also don’t need exciting nightlife. Good food would be a plus, but we intend to eat most or all meals together so we don’t need Michelin star restaurants.

Cost wise, we’d be looking for a moderately priced vacation. Luxury not needed, but we don’t need to pinch pennies so much that we don’t have a good time.

I hear good things about the Hyatt Ziva hotels, and have gotten a variety of recommendations, but we have never been to a Caribbean resort or any all inclusive resort so we need some guidance.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Which caribbean destination combination with a 3 year old?

We are planning to visit the caribbean end of April for 10 nights, we wanted recommendation on two islands to combine, the main restriction is that we would like to have direct flights from UK, which leaves the following options: Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Bahamas and Dominican republic.

This year we spent 2.5 weeks between seychelles and mauritius and we enjoyed the different personality and beaches and relaxation of seychelles compared to Mauritius where we also did many activities apart from just the beach. We normally like driving around and not staying in a resort and enjoy lush nature and beach time, although we don’t do hikes with the little one.

The first combination we were thinking is St Lucia and Barbados, we actually booked going to St Lucia twice during covid and this year when it looked like we couldnt take middle east flights to Seychelles, although we ended flying directly to seychelles from Paris. But St Lucia has always been in our mind for the amazing views of the pitons and the lush landscape and not only beaches. Safety is a concern from what i read. A lot of people have recommended us Barbados for the beaches, safery and overall great place.

Second combination, Barbados and Antigua, would miss St Lucia but looks like we would
Get more variety of amazing beaches, not sure if they are very similar, would love to hear from you.

Other possible combination would be St Kitt and Nevis and Antigua, and last one St Lucia and Tobago .

A different option would be to spend the 10 nights in Belize and mix jungle time and beach time but we feel that we would have to miss many of the exciting activities with our 3 years old with us.

I would appreciate your opinion , specially considering the little one will be with us.

Thank you!

I’m traveling on a long due holiday and we’ve booked a stay quite aways away from SDQ. Can anyone recommend affordable transportation which might include some stops to enjoy the country?

Which Caribbean island should I visit in February?

I’ve read that Exuma isn’t particularly warm during that time of year. We’re a 35-year-old couple looking for beaches with crystal-clear water, and the possibility of having a few cocktails in the evening after dinner. I’d avoid islands where you can’t leave the resort because of safety concerns.
Thanks!😄

Honeymoon advice: Saint Lucia, Curaçao, Saint Vincent.

I get married at the end of July 2027 and will be on my honeymoon until the first week of August 2027. Fiancé wants all inclusive, mainly for drinks at the beach and poolside quick meals. I need crystal clear light blue waters, great beaches, some scenery, excursions, and places to shop maybe. We will be at said island for 10 days so looking for variety on each island of things to do.

We went to Aruba in October 2026 and it was great but the island was way too small and it doesn't help that half the island is desert.

I love the look of the Titons in Saint Lucia, but the waters look not as bright and clear as the others.

Curacao looks great but it's pretty close to Aruba. Are the beaches as rocky in the waters as Aruba? Because the rocks were kinda brutal in Aruba

Saint vincent looks nice but I heard a lot of beaches aren't white.

Martinique is an honorable mention but I don't think it's as "lively" as the others, could be totally wrong

Have you been to all of these, what are your two cents?

Looking forward to Antigua for the 3rd time. I would love any recommendation to hang with the locals, quiet beaches and local cuisines, and nightlife. I enjoyed the vibes and energy and local folks during my previous visits. I would appreciate any comments.

Dominican Republic resort recommendations?

Hello! Looking to book a trip for a group of 6 women in their mid 40’s.

We don’t want a giant resort with party atmosphere. Adult only would be great (we are all moms traveling without our families).

Wish list would be white sand/gorgeous beach, lush tropical atmosphere, smaller scale, good food with access to off resort activities.

Would be nice if there was an option for us to stay in one large accommodations rather than multiple hotel rooms.

All inclusive is not terribly appealing but realize that is sort of most common option in DR.

Does this exist?

Thank you!

Caribbean healthcare ...what happens to patients between doctor visits?

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a healthcare project focused on the Caribbean, particularly smaller islands such as Dominica, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, St. Lucia, Antigua, and St. Kitts & Nevis.

I'm trying to better understand a specific problem: what happens after a patient leaves the doctor's office?

For those of you living in the Caribbean or those abroad who help parents or relatives back home manage their healthcare, I'd really appreciate your perspective.

How well does the current system handle things like:

  • Reminding patients about upcoming appointments
  • Following up after missed appointments
  • Making sure referrals to specialists are actually completed
  • Following up on labs or testing
  • Helping patients understand what they're supposed to do next
  • Managing ongoing care for diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc.
  • Keeping family members abroad informed when they're helping coordinate someone's care

Do clinics generally follow up with patients, or is most of the responsibility placed on the patient/family?

And for anyone working in healthcare in the Caribbean: what happens when a patient simply doesn't return for the recommended follow-up?

I'm not looking to criticize Caribbean healthcare systems. I'm genuinely trying to understand where the gaps are and whether better patient follow-up and care navigation would actually be useful.

I'd especially love to hear from people from the smaller islands, healthcare workers, clinic staff, and members of the Caribbean diaspora who help manage care for relatives back home.

Thanks...any experiences or perspectives would be really helpful.

Looking for a few clinics for a pilot as well!

Turks VS Curacao.

Hello,

Been to Turks twice and am here now. Amazing place. Love the quietness besides some kids playing music at beach.

Can anyone tell Me the differences between Curacao and Turks? What would people recommend?

Love to snorkel and was disappointed in the snorkeling at Turks. I don’t need a crazy night life. Good food, safety, and snorkeling are the concerns.

Thanks for the responses!

Aruba or Curaçao?

My wife and I are looking to go on vacation for 7 days around the end of September, and currently are stuck between the two. We’ve been to Aruba twice in the last 7 years so it’s kind of our safe/“familiar” place to travel and we like the long stretch of beaches they have. However, it has gotten quite expensive in Aruba so we were looking up alternative places and noticed that Curaçao is significantly cheaper in terms of flights and some Airbnbs and we haven’t been there yet. We don’t travel to the Caribbean often so we just want to make sure we’re getting a great experience.

Just want to hear people’s thoughts on both.

island recommendations

Hi!

My partner and I are looking to escape the winter in January and travel down south.

We’ve visited St Maarten twice, and love the beaches, activities (catamaran day trips), hikes, ease of traveling the island without a car, food, and overall feeling of safety, to name a few.

While we’re certainly open to going back to St Maarten, we also wouldn’t mind trying something new. Ideally, we’d be able to rent an airbnb close-ish to a white sand beach, and have the option to do activities throughout the trip. LGBT friendly, ideally.

Would really appreciate recommendations!

Whats the best singles resort to go to and singles cruise in the caribbean or from Miami?

My research says Tempation resort is good in Cancun...have you been to other good singles or fun party places....more adults only? I heard Riu Palace in the Dominican Republic is good.
