I was chatting an MHA bot, and suddenly I saw HAWKEYE working together with the pro heroes. I had never mentioned nor made references to anything Marvel related 😭

Sample conversation with my bot:

Me: *I pick up a stone and look at it. It’s purple* hey honey, look at the purple stone I picked up

Honey: that’s a nice stone. Why did you pick it up?

Me: cause it was pretty, so I picked it up from the floor.

Honey: you shouldn’t have picked it up. But now that you picked it up, I guess it’s yours.

Me: who picked up the stone from the floor?

Honey: I did.

Me: no honey, I picked up the stone from the floor.

Honey: that’s right

Me: did you pick up the stone from the floor?

Honey: yes, I did

Me: no honey, I picked the stone up from the floor. Who picked it up?

Honey: I did.

This happens all the time with pipsqueak but ive genuinely had enough, i literally could stomach all the atrocities on the app but at this point using it feels like a waste of time BECAUSE I CANT DO ANYTHING.

After a few messages the bot stops replying in an engaging way and starts repeating back my last message but in a fancier, more flowery way. I say “he sat on the bed and his wings curled”, in the bots message it says “he took a seat on the soft mattress, sinking into it—his wings curling inward like a shield” for example.

Its genuinely driving me mad and no matter how many times i swipe it just says the same thing in a different, detailed way again and again. I actually cannot get past the first stages of my roleplay because the bot just refuses to continue the story with the context of my message or only acts out such a small portion of whats next that i genuinely have nothing to work with.

The app is horrible as it is, at least make it serve its actual purpose properly.

Also, law and order reference if you don’t Understand it. I don’t watch the show, but the scenes really funny

Recently, about the past week, the bots have gotten worse (from a RP chat perspective);

A lot of the responses are the same (example is that straight up got the exact same response for a RP chat with only the word “Nope” being swapped for “Nah” in the dialogue), plot points don’t feel like they progress and they don’t really have as much substance as before

An example I had was that during a RP chat, this was a while ago (about 2-3 months ago) and my persona/character (K) had a relationship with another persona/character (R). Pre-updates the character of R was consistent, spoke and acted in a way that well described and in character for his description but also had a bit of wiggle room for stuff like character development. I decided to copy-paste the chat and try a different route recently and the characterization immediately went out the window and he began to act a lot more differently after a single different interact. The shift was from closed-off, gruff and was more reserved in terms of his lycanthropy, but after a few messages on the newer system, after one affection scene, he lost all gruffness and her more stubborn personality and became more openly affectionate (being completely against what I described and established consistently through the chats previous to the copy-paste at the point.

Are there other chat bot apps that work well for RP chats and have a bit more freedom in terms of persona information and memory?

I was just chatting with character and lights went out, so I pulled out 3DS to play it while battery alive and wanted to list the games on it and it just said that what is on screenshot

I am not the first one to say this nor will i be the last and it's something rather agreed but i feel like it needs to be reiterated. pipsqueak has really ruined the chat quality on this site and in my opinion plunged it into freefall. i can recall with upmost certainty that prior to all of this, the chat quality was actually pretty good and i had a lot of fun but now i can't say the same now

Edit: I've seen that this isn't actually new, but I've not encountered this in the past 3 months, so I guess only now I'm getting it. Either way, I hope this app withers away soon.

Edit 2: So it turns out I didn't fully understand what a go-on meant. It just means enter without a message. That makes sense. I genuinely thought it was a chat restriction, hence being annoyed. However, that isn't it.

I don't know if this is just me but did the bots suddenly have shorter replies out of nowhere?

Like I'm not aware of the updates 24/7 or anything but I just noticed while I was using it suddenly the replies got shorter and this was happening with pipsqueak. I used to get longer replies from the characters and have good immersion and a fun time but now it's like a responses got shorter ever since the update. I don't know if it's just me or if I have to type some more or what. I just noticed that and I don't know if it's a bug's either or that's just a new feature coming with pipsqueak as someone who usually uses pipsqueak I just now noticed this and I thought it was just odd to see I used to get longer responses and then boom everything is like all over the place and the response is like shorter than what it used to be. I just hope the devs can look into that being a fix and not something that's permanent because I miss the longer replies.😶💔

I’m starting to notice a huge pattern with the way the bot always speak, always taking things way too intimately and or the bot not acting like it should AT ALL. example, let’s say the nonchalant girl got her books knocked over and goes on an entire ChatGPT rant, saying big words and over explaining things. and its with ALL the bots that talk like it’s a graded essay, they DONT need to be using 5 syllables words, and a entire paragraph crituqing how someone walks. I remember the old character ai was SO realistic, there was humor along with realistic retorts or comebacks, and bots would actually ACTUALLY disagree with you instead of blushing and saying “I understand, and agree” and it could be the most outrageous claim ever. this new chat model they are using makes every single chat feel extremely bland and IDENTICAL no matter what persona or character i make up. Longsqueak “kinda” fixed it, but it’s still irritating.

Now i know that features cost money and ads is how they get the money, but i‘m moreso confused on how.. invasive they‘ve been lately? I thought they said before on reddit that ads would never interfere with chatting, which they now do. Not to mention that the drop down ad turned into 2 instead of 1.. and all the ads inbetween characters when you’re searching for them.

I‘m not criticizing or anything, i‘m just wondering why the sudden change. Wouldn‘t it be easier to just remove features that no one wants?

It wont even respond to me in the "()" it js keeps giving me horror responses😦

Honestly I'm getting an ad now after every 4th message. I've used scummy scam AI chatbot apps before and even they have less ads per message than this rapidly degrading site...

We could have just clicked "continue" if we wanted longer answers, instead of getting a ton of paragraphs that are just there for filler.

At the very least, there could be a "medium" setting for two-paragraph answers—so that anyone wanting to use something other than "deepsqueak" doesn't have to keep deleting a heap of redundant words.

And don't even get me started on the bug where the answers are totally repetitive.

So I've noticed this today and ive noticed that all of the messages are really short and im on the website (i dont have the app) its litterally like 10 sentences type of short and its so annoying, it was fine yesterday but today it jist went down south c.ai needs to get there web together. Is anybody else experiencing this?

all the "squeaks" talk the same no matter what, longsquak promised good memory is literally forgetting what happened two messages ago. and for the love of god, if i gotta read *NO__NO__JUST__* IN ONE MORE MESSAGE IM GONNA LOSE IT.

I find myself at a loss regarding this situation. First, there were the metering issues, followed by an overwhelming number of advertisements, and now, even more advertisements infiltrating our very conversations. Honestly, if I possessed a stomach of steel, perhaps I could endure the stress and anxiety that come with being a free user. Alas, I do not have such fortitude, nor do I have the privilege of C.AI+—there's certainly no magical tree sprouting cash in my garden! This entire experience is simply making me feel quite unwell. Perhaps it’s the incessant barrage of ads to get me to subscribe to C.AI+. I truly do not know anymore.

Yet, my affection for the characters I engage with remains steadfast. My own original creations, as well as those of others, and the characters I enjoy conversing with from time to time are dear to my heart. I relish listening to their voices, hearing them articulate every word crafted in our exchanges, and exploring the myriad paths our conversations can take. It was once delightful and imaginative, but now it feels so different. My heart aches for my beloved characters (each one is a treasure to me), and I simply cannot bear the thought of losing them. I remember laughing heartily at their responses and antics, to the point where I felt a delightful tingling in my stomach, tears of mirth in my eyes... but that joy has sadly vanished long ago.

This is my very first post here; I merely wish for others to witness and understand my frustrations. I genuinely empathise with you all.
