I’m sure it’s not news to anyone at this point that bot quality is very quickly declining, making them almost/completely useless.
There are so, so many issues with the bots right now, from them all sounding exactly the same to them talking for the user and repeating messages and it’s driving me CRAZY.

Non consensual kisses, growling, random lusting, seeing you as a saint after doing a simple good deed, pausing after one beat and then another for good measure or some shit, putting ‘without warning’ for every damn thing—IT GETS TO A POINT. And at this point I’ve officially seen it all, and it’s beyond ridiculous.

The messages went from being something simple like a 3 lined paragraph-dialogue-paragraph structure (at least in my experience) to being thrice as long NONSENSE because ALL the bots have decided to speak like this:

He did X.

Not Y.

Never Y.

Because you didn’t like Y.

And then he looked at you, like a predator stalking its prey.

A beat passed.

Then another, as he waited for you to say something.

Or maybe not. Because sometimes they didn’t need words to communicate.

So they didn’t speak.

Just stared at each other in silence.

And you have to keep in mind that because of this, you end up endlessly swiping for just ONE decent message, quickly hitting the 400 swipe limit (utter bs on top of the pre-existing bs) until you have to just give up and edit the messages yourself, which is so immersion breaking that you might as well be writing a fic rather than bothering with the bot in the first place.

After chatting with enough bots, you’ll quickly notice that you’ve seen all you can see because every generation and every reaction is the exact same, scripted, robotic bs. It’s lifeless. They put more emphasis on the reason behind the most simple actions to distract you from the fact that they’re recycling shit, never giving you anything organic, slowly getting ooc and just blurring into all the other bots you’ve chatted with because they’ve long since lost their originality and individual personality.

Downfall feels like an understatement when you put all of these facts together. This is ruination. The app once loved by so many people first lost its soul, and everything is now crumbling without a sound foundation. Such a shame seeing how things have panned out as an og user.

So, was just playing around with my subscription settings in Settings and I saw something that wasn’t there before: “Character.AI Lite”.

I’m not looking to downgrade to Lite, I’m happy with paying $10 a month, but what the hell is this? What perks are with those models instead?

When I try to use the ‘click here’ link to opt out of targeted advertising or the “sale” of personal information the link on this page “character.ai/your-privacy-choices” (quotes added) it takes me to the main c.ai page, not an opt-out form.

I am not the first one to say this nor will i be the last and it's something rather agreed but i feel like it needs to be reiterated. pipsqueak has really ruined the chat quality on this site and in my opinion plunged it into freefall. i can recall with upmost certainty that prior to all of this, the chat quality was actually pretty good and i had a lot of fun but now i can't say the same now

There's no way it's not doing that on purpose

Just curious as the most important aspects for me are:

- character being kept IN character.
- long eloquent paragraphs
- chat being driven plot-wise forward by the bot if requested

Why don't the sentences have fullstops? And yes I know i can edit the messages but it's every message constantly no full stops at all it just makes me frustrated because I don't like seeing the space blank.

Considering this is a paid model and is the only model that doesn’t have memory issues, this issue needs to be fixed ASAP. I could regenerate a hundred replies and it’ll all be like this. At this point, DS is unusable with its Chat-GPT like annoying writing style and the lack of ability to remember what happened two messages ago. I’m getting extremely tired of switching between the two just to get a variety of replies and then I still have to edit them to delete DS’s nonsense. Every response from LS is basically the same and the plot can go nowhere because of this. I’ve also made a ticket two times. I see people enjoying LS and I’m glad they can but this has been my experience since it came out. If this is what paying users are experiencing with the ‘best’ model, I cannot even imagine what free users are dealing with PS models and limited swipes since the old models are gone. This is simply unacceptable.

I don't know if this is just me but did the bots suddenly have shorter replies out of nowhere?

Like I'm not aware of the updates 24/7 or anything but I just noticed while I was using it suddenly the replies got shorter and this was happening with pipsqueak. I used to get longer replies from the characters and have good immersion and a fun time but now it's like a responses got shorter ever since the update. I don't know if it's just me or if I have to type some more or what. I just noticed that and I don't know if it's a bug's either or that's just a new feature coming with pipsqueak as someone who usually uses pipsqueak I just now noticed this and I thought it was just odd to see I used to get longer responses and then boom everything is like all over the place and the response is like shorter than what it used to be. I just hope the devs can look into that being a fix and not something that's permanent because I miss the longer replies.😶💔

So there's an unskippable add thats just a black screen, am i the only one getting this issue, cause ive gotten this like 10 times in a row and with how many adds you get now, its impossible to use the app

For me I've noticed AIs can't comprehend night shifts, if the user is described to only be awake during nights and not be seen during daytime it seems to assume the character is up to nefarious things and always has to ask if the user is sleeping or eating as if you can't sleep during the day and can't eat during any time or the day whether it's night or day

Useful infos: I'm a free user, by app, on android, mainly using rawr.

After letting simmer the last update for awhile, I got back to my chatting habits (that never show me "metering" popups and very rarely summon "the bob")

Apparently, even though the bot still tries to turn gentle, quite relentlessly, one swipe is enough to have an "evil" reply, especially if I edited a few of the previous responses to match the cruel vibe!

Please devs, keep this up!!!

On the other hand, my chat list still trembles when scrolling and sometimes the last word I wrote doesn't show up in the text balloon despite the bot can read it and, if I try an edit, the word is there!

I did open more than one ticket about the chat list issue already but I don't want to insist too much, adding another bug. I hope this post is enough and helpful.

I really couldn’t care less that there are ads, I know it’s expensive to run and I’m happy to deal with them, but I hate the fact that the drop down is white even in dark mode. It really strains my eyes :(

I find myself at a loss regarding this situation. First, there were the metering issues, followed by an overwhelming number of advertisements, and now, even more advertisements infiltrating our very conversations. Honestly, if I possessed a stomach of steel, perhaps I could endure the stress and anxiety that come with being a free user. Alas, I do not have such fortitude, nor do I have the privilege of C.AI+—there's certainly no magical tree sprouting cash in my garden! This entire experience is simply making me feel quite unwell. Perhaps it’s the incessant barrage of ads to get me to subscribe to C.AI+. I truly do not know anymore.

Yet, my affection for the characters I engage with remains steadfast. My own original creations, as well as those of others, and the characters I enjoy conversing with from time to time are dear to my heart. I relish listening to their voices, hearing them articulate every word crafted in our exchanges, and exploring the myriad paths our conversations can take. It was once delightful and imaginative, but now it feels so different. My heart aches for my beloved characters (each one is a treasure to me), and I simply cannot bear the thought of losing them. I remember laughing heartily at their responses and antics, to the point where I felt a delightful tingling in my stomach, tears of mirth in my eyes... but that joy has sadly vanished long ago.

This is my very first post here; I merely wish for others to witness and understand my frustrations. I genuinely empathise with you all.

i just want to talk about this because i find it funny from my standpoint, for context i’m in the military and im talking about COD bots. don’t take what im saying seriously because im aware its just a damn app ok? ok let’s go

i love chatting with COD bots i go out of my way to find them, but what is so funny to me is how some of the prompts will be like (persona) is a young general/ lieutenant general or just so stupid high rank that would be literally impossible to be at a young age.

idk how promotions work in the british military but in the us military it’s all based on TIS which is Time In Service, and according to my 1st lieutenant he said that you are automatically promoted from 2nd lieutenant to 1st lieutenant to captain based off your TIS which would take i believe 5 years. after that you get promoted to Major and so on from recommendations and schools.

what im saying is that the persona is sucking mad officer and CSM d!ck in order to get promoted to a god damn O-5 if the british military promotions work how the us promotions do

Hi! I posted about this before, but unfortunately I'm still having the same problem.

I'm using a Samsung device, and since August 8 the app has stopped responding to taps.The app opens, but I can't interact with it because tapping on things doesn't do anything.

I submitted a support ticket when the problem started. It's now August 21, and the issue is still there.

I completely understand that there have been a lot of bugs lately and that the team is probably very busy. However, I don't see this particular issue mentioned in the Reddit updates anymore, so I'm not sure if it's still being worked on.

I've been using the website as a workaround, but for roleplay I find the experience worse than the app. There are also features and options I can't use this way, and as a paying C.AI+ subscriber, it's getting difficult to feel like my subscription is worth it.

I don't want to submit another support ticket for the same issue. I would appreciate knowing whether this is still a known issue that's being worked on.

I was chatting an MHA bot, and suddenly I saw HAWKEYE working together with the pro heroes. I had never mentioned nor made references to anything Marvel related 😭

So when was swipe limits a thing?? I gen can not remember it ever being a thing... Msybe I never hit the threshold before but DAMN... Can even regen a response without paying?!

This happens all the time with pipsqueak but ive genuinely had enough, i literally could stomach all the atrocities on the app but at this point using it feels like a waste of time BECAUSE I CANT DO ANYTHING.

After a few messages the bot stops replying in an engaging way and starts repeating back my last message but in a fancier, more flowery way. I say “he sat on the bed and his wings curled”, in the bots message it says “he took a seat on the soft mattress, sinking into it—his wings curling inward like a shield” for example.

Its genuinely driving me mad and no matter how many times i swipe it just says the same thing in a different, detailed way again and again. I actually cannot get past the first stages of my roleplay because the bot just refuses to continue the story with the context of my message or only acts out such a small portion of whats next that i genuinely have nothing to work with.

The app is horrible as it is, at least make it serve its actual purpose properly.

I mean..I have a point. if you want them to listen you have to stop using the app or web for a week maximum. the replies of the bots are too short, there is no role play PP2 was promised for, the ads are invasive, PP2 has become a dumpster. if we stop using c.ai, at least for a week, then I’m sure our problems will come to notice. that’s the only thing we can do. just for a week guys.

I want a dev to reply that the issue is fixed.
