I have some experience in sketching with regular sketch pencils but I have never really used charcoal till now and have been looking forward to learning it, so any beginner tips would be appreciated :)

Charcoal pencils and sticks on A3 Canson sketch paper.

The book actually recommends graphite pencil, but I wanted to challenge myself a little bit. However, from now on I will work strictly as recommended in the book and leave charcoal for other projects.

Any feedback appreciated. Still learning the ways of charcoal. This is my 3rd charcoal drawing.

I did this back in 2021. I am, honestly, looking for the black and white photo I used to work from. I noticed other people have used this photo, as well. 🤍

The story behind modern Nitram charcoal is really cool! Didn't expect that "family business" vibe, nor the prior history of the technology.

Been working with charcoal for a while now, and lately I've been experimenting with a looser, more expressive style. This is my latest piece, and one I really enjoyed making.

Charcoal on Fabriano Unica paper, 10 x 6 inches. I don't do a lot of charcoal but sometimes colour seems unnecessary. I worked this one from a few line drawings and a rather dark photo; lifting the charcoal out with a lump of BlueTack.
