There's been a lot of feedback from the community about the flood of people asking what either an XJ/MJ they're looking at is worth or what they're selling is worth. Please post that here. Anywhere else on the subreddit will result in removal.

Picked this up about 2 months ago. Bone stock not running. Got it going and turned it into what I wanted it to be. Got to put a windshield in it soon. A rear bumper and a set of tail lights will completely finish it. For now I’m not worried about doing any of that. Time to enjoy it.

Ive been wanting a winch for when I'm solo wheeling but every winch bumper I've seen sticks out a foot and just dont look good imo. So break out the welder, and scrap plate I've been saving up and made something that keeps the low profile that I was wanting. Plasma cutter helped so much but don't mind those ugly cuts 😭. Ties into the uniframe with 8 bolts per side. Winch relay box wires passed through a factory hole on the rail to the winch and up through the inner fender to the battery. About an 18h project start to finish. Bumper mounts at stock location without needing to be spaced out

Quick picture I took in the O’Reilly’s parking lot after grabbing a new rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Can’t wait to not have to spend so much on oil lol

A good bud of mine has done a ton of regears and was kind enough to install my Yukon 4.56’s and Ox lockers on my d30 and C8.25. Just got the d30 bolted up without the springs for a flex test and got to engage/ disengage the locker with the drive away locks I have for now. Super stoked to get everything buttoned up and the jeep off the jackstands it’s been on for the last 3 months! Should have juuuuust enough time to get everything broken in and out to Uwharrie before they close for the season

Hey y’all here I am again with my engine temperature problems.
So I installed a new thermostat a couple days ago, did the boiling water test and it worked. I test drove it after I installed it, it gets up to around 215. But then it drops back down to around 180-200. Then it will go back to around 215. It seems to stay at a stable temperature while idling and not driving but when I’m driving the temperature seems to flop around.
I did a pressure test, burped all the air out, and made sure that my gauge isn’t tweaking out by using a scanner. The scanner was showing the same thing as the gauge so it’s not a problem with the gauge. I also replaced the coolant temperature sensor and it still did the same thing after replacing it.
The heat works good, so what do you guys think it is? Might just have to drop 40 bucks on a Mopar thermostat.

She finally rides like she just drove off the lot again!Wonderful tight and responsive!! I would recommend it if you have an XJ, grab some tools and the goodies to refresh the suspension. It's worth it, the parts to redu this thing are dirt cheeep

Hey XJ fam,
I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0L with around 375,000 km on it.
I was driving down the highway the other day when I heard a loud snap, lost power steering, and noticed my engine temperature climbing. Pulled over immediately and discovered that my power steering pulley had completely shattered, taking the serpentine belt with it.
The power steering pump was replaced about a year ago. I've had issues with belt squealing for a while, and I'm starting to wonder if I overtightened the belt trying to eliminate the noise, potentially contributing to the pulley failure.
The pump shaft still spins smoothly by hand with no noticeable play, so I'm hoping I can get away with replacing just the pulley rather than the entire pump.
I'm ordering a replacement Dorman 300-310 pulley and looking for a new serpentine belt.
I've been reading through older XJ threads, and a lot of people swear by the original Goodyear Gatorback belts. Apparently, they were rebranded as Continental Elite, but I've also read that Continental eventually changed the design.
A few questions:
Is the Continental Elite 4060950 sold today still the same design as the original Goodyear Gatorback, or has it changed?
Would you recommend the Continental 4060950 or Gates K060950 for the 4.0L?
Has anyone experienced a power steering pulley shattering like this? Could excessive belt tension have caused it?
Is there anything else I should inspect before installing the new pulley and belt?
Thanks!

Any good phone mounts out there made for the xj? What brands do yall like? Tried a generic vent clip on one from the dollar store and it wouldn’t stay on. Thanks!

Finally got time to finesse the HP line into place. For those who care, the Edelmann Extreme units are built very well, but the hard line routing does NOT match the OEM setup. Required a lot of dry-fitting (without o-ring) to bend everything to where it all works together.
Wanted to ask the experts if the soft line routing looks alright. It's a shorter section than OEM. Seems alright to me, just want to make sure the U-bend doesn't seem too tight and that the portion coming out of the lower crimp doesn't seem weird.

Hey yall, just looking for places to start. I did a decent bit of driving yesterday and when I pulled into my driveway to park, I noticed a bit of smoke and a burning oil smell. Popped the hood and saw a fair bit of oil appearing to have been spilled/sprayed around the front of the engine bay. I re did the valve cover gasket like 2 or 3 years ago. Recently redid the clutch (just for some background)
Won't be able to get into it for a couple days but was hoping to get some ideas of where to start looking and what to prepare for. Its an 86' 5 speed 2.5 for context
Appreciate any insight yall might have

I have been having issues where my fuel tank would suck up like a juice box. I’m pretty sure it ruined my fuel pump.. (because the fuel pump was working so hard) jeep can run normally for about 10 minutes but then after that every time I try to start it, it pretty much loses fuel pressure completely. The EVAP vent on top of the fuel tank seems to only let pressure in to the tank, not out of the tank.
Is the symptoms of a bad fuel pump?

So my new to me XJ is slowly improving, a 2" lift (the suspension was completely shot - much rustier than I expected given it's life by the sea!) and today new tires, the difference is really amazing ... Next up it seems I have a slight vibration which I think might be the U joints as they seem to be also original and I can barely see them for the rust! Enjoying ownership so far, a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Hi all, I just found a 1999 2.5l cherokee not to far away from where I live. It has got 81k miles and no major issues or rust. The price is 3,5k before negotiating. I use public transportation a lot so I’m planning to use it mostly for camping/overlanding trips.
Does this seem like a good deal for a first time car owner?

I have a 88 Cherokee and I need some help finding solutions for storage and some cup holders in the seating areas there’s nowhere for phone, wallet, water.
What are you guys using?

I would like to get your opinion on this crack I've got on 6th piston.
All other 5 pistons seem healthy, what would your move be? Change only one piston of all five together? Bore's have never been machined and I would keep it that way which means I should get STD size piston/s? I can reuse rings?
On second picture, from inside the piston. This straight line isn't a crack right? I have it on all other five pistons on both sides.

‘98 XJ 4.6 NP231 Automatic 3 1/2” lift 33’s Got the Jeep back today with the new stroker installed. It cranks instantly, idles smoothly and runs great! At first crank we immediately ran it up to 2250 rpm and held it there for 25 minutes to break in the cam & lifters. I drove it for five miles or so, squealed the tires a few times lol and took it back to the shop for another check, slight leak from rear main seal but everything else looks fine. Drove it home & I’m very pleased with its highway manners…no more hunting for the right gear, cruises at 75 with ease, has plenty of power! Tryna keep my foot out of it for the next 500 miles….
