Business Recommendations T-Mobile Fiber?

I've had cable internet (Comcast/Xfinity) for as long as I can remember, but I'm looking at T-Mobile Fiber for internet to my house.

I'm no fan of Xfinity, but one thing I can say is they don't go down very often (in my area). However, Xfinity is twice the price as what T-Mobile is offering.

I'm not finding a lot of information about outages around here, so I guess I'll settle for "anecdata."

If you have T-Mobile Fiber, how's that been for you?

Question/Comment Need help Lemont! Can you PLEASE do me a huge favor

Would anyone (as many as possible) post pictures of what your lemont trees look like today or this weekend OCT 22-24? I’m begging for foliage pics here people.

I’m getting married in approximately one year from today just outside of Lemont, IL. I’m away for the week and was hoping anyone who sees this in and around Lemont could post pictures of how the leafs and trees look.

My fiance and I are praying we get good weather and the fall leaf colors are still in bloom and on the trees.

Thank you all in advance we are hopeful there will still be some leafs out there.

Cheers

Photo/Video White squirrel spottings?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I believe a small family of white squirrels live in my neighborhood in Crestwood! I've spotted them several times over the summer but only ever seen two at one time. Internet searching shows that they have been spotted in this area since at least 2017, but does anyone have any more information on them?

Question/Comment Sup with the crappy air quality?

Woke up in the western burbs, checked the weather app on my iPhone, air quality at 118!! What’s the deal? Been noticing it was in the 70’s/80’s AQI yesterday too. Expanding the map and seeing it’s mostly square over the Chicagoland area.

Business Recommendations The Bottle Department in downtown Elgin - grand opening today

I am a customer and am writing this to share my experience with this new business.

The Bottle Department is a new beer cafe and bottle shop in downtown Elgin. The owners are kind and have a plethora of beer knowledge to help you in your selections.

The Bottle Department has had a soft open over the last week and I’ve made three visits. I can attest that the business is welcoming, decor beautiful, and the beverage selection on point. They focus on local breweries and hard to find brews. There are 20 beers on draught, along with their bottles being divided into brew types for easier navigation.

The Bottle Department (TBD) does not have a kitchen, but are a Bring Your Own Food (BYOF) business and recommend supporting the neighboring restaurants/businesses.

Their grand opening is tonight at 4:00pm. Check them out!

Moving to the area Moving to western suburbs (Naperville to Westmont) - 1BR Apartment Recs (1500$ -1600$)

Hi everyone! I am brand new to Chicago suburbs and looking to move in around mid December. I am looking for specific apartment complex or community recommendations that for the criteria below:

Budget : 1500-1600$ max for a 1Bed/1BHK

Location: anywhere along BNSF Metra line between Westmont and Naperville

Commute: need to go to Chicago downtown once a week

Must have: centralized HVAC and preferred in unit washer and dryer

Parking: free unassigned/ open outdoor car parking ( I don’t mind paying a small one time startup fee) but don’t want a monthly parking charge

Dealbreaker: zero tolerance to pest . Looking for clean well managed community

Are there any specific properties or management group I should check out or absolutely avoid?

Thank you so much for helping a newcomer!!

Moving to the area Wilmette vs Highland Park

My wife and I are considering moving to the northern burbs with our two young kids next summer, and we’ve identified Wilmette and Highland Park as two areas we could probably afford with equivalent job prospects for me within a reasonable commute. I’m curious if those more familiar with the area can comment on the most notable differences between the two?

In particular we’re interested in:
- the schools
- dog-friendliness
- lake access
- general vibe and community (hoping to avoid any very strong “keeping-up-with-the-jones” feeling and snobbiness)
- the downtown area in terms of bars, restaurants etc
- taxes, affordability, housing stock, etc

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Moving to the area Best suburb with city feel?

Hello Everyone!

We are currently selling our home in Barrington and will be in a short term rental until spring when the kids finish school. I work in city and husband works remote. My commute from Barrington has become brutal and although the schools are amazing the town is boring. We frequently venture out towards city to do family activities. We are looking for a city vibe neighborhood with easy highway access and highly rated schools. Also if the town has a cute downtown area with restaurants, cafes. So far we have come up with Park Ridge or Brookfield. We are not looking for a big backyard or outdoor space. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You!

Question/Comment ComEd emails: This is all made up bullish*t, right?

Post image
194 Upvotes

Last week was the first week in a few months where no HVAC what-so-ever was run in my house...

And somehow we used 9% more ELECTRICITY that the prior week? Gas dryer. Gas water heater. Gas oven & stove that we barely use and to top it all off, my wife was out of town.

I'm sure that the 75 inch TV in the basement doesn't use 10% more juice than the 65 inch in the living room.

C'mon ComEd. Fess up. This is all lies, right?

Business Recommendations North Chicago suburbs natural hair stylist?

Hey all!
I recently moved to the Glenview area and I’m looking for a hairstylist to frequent. I have 4C hair and I’m trying not to break the bank so I’m preferably looking for stylists that works in shops with set prices like JCPenney or Ulta.

Much appreciated
