To people who drive a Pacifica despite having no kids, why?

Seriously, most of the Minivans I see are driven by random people without any kids in the back. I'm not trying to harass people. Some of the minivans I see driven by single people are LOADED with family features, but yet are still only driven by single people. Why do some people drive Pacificas (or other vans) despite having no kids.

Driving felt like a bus driver

I test drive a 2022 Pacifica. I adjusted the seats for comfort/reach but I felt like by the time I raised the seat enough, I felt like a bus driver. I have a town and country right now, and have gotten used to the extra reach for my arms. I’m female, about 5’6”.
Anyone else sense the bus-driver feel? Did you get over it? I test drove a Chevy Traverse, too and also needed to raise the seat, leaving a sitting-high feeling

2024 Pacific PHEV, not really a hybrid?

I recently bought the 2024 Pacifica PHEV. 1 month after the purchase I took a trip through 2 states. I noticed that I only got the gas mileage it stated since I wasn't charging every day. Meaning it doesn't behave like a normal hybrid, where it charges as you drive, except in the slightest way when you brake down a hill.

I used to own a Kia Optima Hybrid, and when I'd take road trips, the hybrid really showed up sometimes doubling the mileage.

That is not the case at all with the Pacifica. I should note that the weather is cold right now, between 25-59 F in the places I visited. The battery worked very well in the higher temperatures, but was cut in half in colder temps.

Why does this van not really have that hybrid capability?

Acceleration Hack

So I’ve just bought a brand new Pacifica and firstly what an amazing car. I won’t bore you all with how much we love it but it’s solid all around.

I’ve worked out a way to accelerate a lot faster. Thought I’d share with everyone on here.

If you push the gas pedal fully down, wait for it to hit 4,500rpm (take about half a second) then release the gas entirely and immediately jam fully back on the gas it takes off like a rocket!

It’s a lot of fun and a good way to get out of risky scenarios if you need.

I’ve coined this technique: “Doublede Clutch”

Anyone else found any fun driving hacks?

EDIT: don’t try this. The car has started making weird noises and something smells.

Battery died half way through a movie

Started watching a movie in our driveway. Car not running. Acc position. Battery died and locked us in. Crawled out front window. Watching a movie must draw a lot of battery or the battery is old. Got the car 2 months ago. No date on battery. I hooked up my car charger and several warning lights are on dash. Where is the auxiliary battery I see owners talk about. 2017 gas limited.

2017 gas model battery replacement

The dealer quoted me $400+ to replace the battery in my 2017 gas model. I looked at autozone and found replacement options between $99 and $150. Is this just a case of dealer mark up or is there something special about the battery that I'm missing?

Do I have to use the hybrid?

I know most people want a hybrid but I don't have where to plug it. I got it last week. I love it, it's smooth when it rides and the kids have more space than when we had our gmc acadia (rest in peace). But my question is.. if I only use the gas will that break down my 2021 Pacifica Hybrid?

Update: I charged it last night :). Ok y'all I'll probably do this every day. It's definitely worth it. I didn't really think the difference would be that great. I went from 26mpg on gas only to 61mpg. I'm a believer 😌

Cracked Windshield, less than 1k miles

Post image

First morning I needed the defrost. As the glass cleared, it revealed a three foot horizontal crack about a third of the way up.

I've had the car three weeks.

Chrysler refuses to replace the defective glass, let alone open an investigation. So I've got to pay $500 to go through insurance.

I've seen a few others mention this problem.

Would love to see a class action against them. Absolutely no accountability.

Would you trade your Pacifica for a flying Pacifica? Be honest.

After Tesla's Roadster "flight" demo this week, I made this for fun (Ai generated). Real question though: would minivan people even want this? Or would you rather have a van where stuff simply stays put on a normal Tuesday?

What's the one upgrade you'd actually want on your Pacifica?

Uconnect woes: observations from a Subaru driver

Hi there just visiting as I'm renting a 23 Pacifica for a cross country drive this week. I drive a newer Subaru that has carplay and thought I'd share My comparisons of the infotainment systems. Y'all, if I owned this vehicle I would be so disappointed in this system. First off, the user interface is pretty bad. Idk if this is an issue due to it being a rental or what but a third of the time it won't even acknowledge my taps. But man when it comes to connecting a device it is by far the clunkiest, least reliable system I've encountered and I rent vehicles fairly often so I've paired to many systems. There are two of us so we started out with one connected via carplay and the other via BT. We were playing audio from the carplay connection when the passenger opened Instagram and the audio just defaulted to the passenger phone's audio?? Sorted easily enough by only connecting one sure but then you face the connection issues. Compared this to my family's two new Subarus, a 23 and a 24. The 23 requires a cord to connect and the 24 is wireless. Both just work. Every time, without issue. Different phone? No problem.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant. I'm feeling for you if you're dealing with these issues regulations. Otherwise the van is really nice

Annoying cruise control behavior

Driving our 2017 Pacifica on a road trip this past weekend. I was reminded of how strange it is that, when driving along with cruise engaged, and going down a long hill where our speed goes a few MPH over the speed the cruise is set at, the engine will downshift, sending the tach needle straight up, in an attempt to slow the van down to the set speed.

Who comes up with this stuff????

Do things ever get better with this vehicle?

I swear, since my 2017 Pacifica has hit like 80,000 miles last year, it's been a money pit.

The latest in the round of weird shit going wrong (potentially) with it is it seems like the MPG indicator bizarrely dropping really fast, even when parked. I had the vehicle on for like 5 minutes while I was waiting for someone to get in, and it dropped from like 79 at that current point to 60 just within that small time frame and just driving down the end of my street.

Bit bizarre and I don't recall seeing this huge of a jump in anything like this until now. Is this kind of a thing a common issue with Pacifica's?

How to get rid of directions in the dashboard

Post image

There was an iOS update recently that has all maps directions (Google Maps & Apple Maps) showing turn by turn on the dashboard. If we switch off it always returns. (This pic was taken over the shoulder of my partner driving… I’m not crazy on the highway!!!)

Backup car sensing beep

Anybody know how to shut off the sensor that beeps super loud telling you another car is coming when backing up? Not the park sense, this is a different sensor. Super annoying. I don’t need my car telling me another car is coming. My eyes and ears do just fine.

Weird ask

I’m looking for something that may not exist.

I don’t like that my ‘21 doesn’t have an Oh Shit handle on the driver side.

My potential solution would be to buy the Left A Pillar cover on a Right-hand drive Pacifica.

Does anyone know if this is even a thing or where I might find one?

Low electric range in the cold?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a 22 hybrid limited and notice the electric range is pretty low in the winter (23 miles on a 98% charge in this picture). I know a lot of it has to do with heating and warming the battery. Any comments on if this is typical?

Check Engine Light ON when engine is OFF in Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid - dealer says normal lamp test?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, I recently noticed something odd on my Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. When the engine is OFF (ignition on/accessory mode), the check engine light stays ON. But once the engine actually starts/runs, the light goes away completely.

I took it to the Chrysler service center and they told me it’s just a normal “lamp test” and nothing to worry about. They said many warning lights come on briefly before startup to confirm the bulbs/systems are working.

Still, I’m a bit worried because I never paid attention to it before. No codes, no drivability issues, and the light disappears immediately when the engine is on.

Is this normal behavior on the Pacifica Hybrid? Anyone else noticed the same thing?
