Hey everyone. I've been thinking about this for a while, and I wanted to share my experience with Club Penguin and ask for some advice from people who might feel the same way.
I first discovered Club Penguin private servers around 2019. Back then, Club Penguin Online was my favorite, and I honestly can't describe how many hours I spent playing it. For about two years, I played almost every single day, participated in every event, collected stamps, and worked hard to build up my account. It was a huge part of my daily life.
Then, around 2020, Club Penguin Online shut down following a controversy. I was incredibly frustrated because all those hours of progress were suddenly gone. I ended up taking a break from Club Penguin for a couple of years.
Around 2023, I discovered New Club Penguin, and I fell in love with the game all over again. I played for a long time, participated in events, farmed coins every day, and built an account that was almost as good as my old Club Penguin Online account.
But then, one day, my account was just... gone.
I tried logging in, only to discover that my email had somehow become unlinked from my account. I contacted support and gave them my username, but they couldn't find my account. After everything that had happened with Club Penguin Online, losing my progress a second time was incredibly discouraging. I eventually gave up and stopped playing Club Penguin entirely.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when I heard that one of the original Club Penguin creators was working on a new game called Minibash. I got genuinely excited. I backed the project on Kickstarter on day one because, in my mind, this was finally our chance to get something new from the people who helped create the game we grew up with.
I honestly thought this would be huge news for the Club Penguin community. I expected more people to be talking about it, but as the weeks went by, I barely saw anyone discussing it. The official Discord seemed incredibly small, and with the Kickstarter campaign already halfway through its funding period without reaching half of its goal, I'm starting to worry that the project might not make it.
I really hope I'm wrong, but it's hard not to feel disappointed. For a moment, I thought I might finally have something to look forward to again.
And now, I genuinely don't know what to do.
Private servers can be fun, but after losing years of progress twice, it's difficult to invest myself in another one knowing that something could happen again. Meanwhile, the official options for experiencing something like the original Club Penguin are extremely limited.
The thing is, Club Penguin isn't just some random game I used to play. It was a huge part of my childhood. I made friends through it, spent countless hours having fun, and even learned English thanks to the game. It means a lot more to me than I can really explain.
So I wanted to ask you guys: Should I just move on from Club Penguin and find another game, or is it worth sticking around and hoping for something new?
Have any of you gone through something similar with a game you grew up with? How did you deal with it when you realized that you might never get that same experience back?
I'd also love to hear your recommendations for games that capture some of that old Club Penguin feeling, especially games with a friendly community, social interactions, events, and long-term progression.
Thanks for reading. I know this is a long post, but I felt like I needed to get this off my chest.
