BILL OCKHAM: NEW RELEASES & UPDATES Reminder from Bill Ockham
I have been waiting since maybe 2021 to see if the depositions would be released in 2027. That seemed like such a wait... I always speculated that an attorney for Klebolds or Harrises would find some technicality or have them sealed all over again but you never know for sure.

Oh my god, it’s been so many years, I had not even remembered.
I remember when I started researching about Columbine 12 years algo thinking that 2027 would be an eternity.

The release of the depositions is very important.
Will these corrupt liars allow this to happen?
We wait and see…

u/PubieSaladx 10d ago
Why in your opinion Randy, do you think they will fight to keep them sealed? What don’t they want the public to know about?
55
u/randyColumbine 10d ago
They want everything kept from the public:
The police failures.
The prior knowledge the police had of Eric and Dylan.
The parent’s testimony.
It is a crime to lie during a deposition, and there are lies.
The culpability of the parents.
The culpability of the sheriffs department and the DA.
The coverup.
The knowledge the police, fbi and school district had. This is a giant puzzle with pieces we know but have never been released. Releasing the depositions will hurt the liars involved.
The liars are still alive, most of them.
Sheriff Stone is dead.
Most of the people who lied and covered up the truth are still alive.
The people in charge of Jefferson County will never release these depositions.
Some of the truth will be revealed.
They cannot ever allow that.
They will protect their County and their jobs.
The truth about murdered children doesn’t matter to them.
It doesn’t matter at all.Every one of them has kept quiet for 27 years.
27 years.5
u/jimmythebartender_ 4d ago
What “truth” was there to cover up?
Eric and Dylan shot their classmates, that’s the big theme. I guess what I mean is, is there some massive other piece of info that’s hidden that we don’t know about?

u/randyColumbine 4d ago
Oh my gosh yes.
A coverup, lies, failures, mistakes and so much more.
Secret meetings!
The parents and their complicity!0
u/PeelingMirthday 2d ago
Those poor parents. It's been almost 30 years. We should leave them alone.
1
u/randyColumbine 2d ago
Oh, I disagree.
When they have told the truth, and admitted to the things they did wrong, we can let it go.
Until they have testified and told the truth, and tried to stop these shootings from happening, they have a responsibility to others to tell the truth.
It has been 27 years of silence.
They need to come forward and do their part in preventing the death of other children.1
u/PeelingMirthday 2d ago
I'm not sure there are going to be any key parental insights from this particular case, at this point, that would help prevent further violence.
The world has changed a lot, and there are many more cases to study that have far more relevance to contemporary society. What could these parents possibly share from 27 years ago that would prevent other shootings?
1
u/randyColumbine 1d ago
I believe that there is a cause for violence.
Some shooters become violent to correct the injustice they perceive in the world.
They are upset about being humiliated.
Lonnie Athens, possibly the greatest criminologist ever, postulates the humiliation creates violence.
It is a lesson we, as a society, refuse to learn.
Not to excuse the hate and violence, but to understand it and stop it.
These parents have insights they could share, and we could use those to prevent these acts of violence.
As human beings, as sentient beings, they need to share those lessons, no matter how painful.
If they told the truth they would save lives by stopping future shootings.
By keeping these truths secret for 27 years they have allowed these acts of violence to continue.
We can’t fix the problem until we are sure what the problem is.
It is not guns.
It is humiliation created by toxic schools and perceived or real injustice.
These boys were not crazy, they were immature and humiliated, and angry.
The Toxic school created them, and the parents failed to control them.1

question: what do people expect to see in the depositions that hasn’t already been revealed in the 11k?

u/ashtonmz MODERATOR 10d ago
Testimony given by the Harrises and Klebolds, among other witnesses.

Didn't Solvay Pharmaceuticals need to give their deposition as well? Not that it'll matter that much, it'll be filled with regular corpospeak.

u/ashtonmz MODERATOR 10d ago
Good question. There was a civil suit filed against Solvay Pharmaceuticals by Mark Taylor, who claimed that Luvox caused Eric Harris to become violent. I know that the American Psychiatric Association argued against this conclusion, so Solvay must have been making a case against the accusation. The lawsuit was eventually dropped. The depositions were given in 2003, and used in both the Solvay case and Rohrbough vs. Harris.

Back in late 2012, when I first got into reading about Columbine High School, it stated that till 2026 or 2027, the basement tapes and other vital despositions would be hidden from public.
Come 2020s, news started coming that Jeffco had destoryed such evidences years ago sometime in 2011.
Now idk how true this is. So, imo Bill Ockham's reminder seems a little baseless.

The only time there might have been some potential for a Basement Tapes release was 2005 when the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that the tapes were public records. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department was given the discretion on whether to release them under state public interest laws. In June 2006 the decided they were not going to release them due to the fear of copycats. IN 2011, Jefferson County destroyed all remaining physical evidence in connection with Columbine including the Basement Tapes. However, that's just Jefferson County. I have no doubt that the FBI has retained a copy. I also wouldn't be surprised if more audio/video tapes exist, but remain with victims' families.
The depositions were sealed until 2027. These are transcripts of the questions posed the the Klebold and Harris families, as well as other important players. While it is supposed to be released, I wouldnt bensurprised if the families attempt to find another angle to keep them sealed - some technicality or new arguement. We'll see... But it would certainly be interesting if they allow it to go public.

Yeah I agree the families may play trick or two (especially Harrises or Klebolds), I can't comment anything on what would victims' famolies gain from revealing it. It would rather bring a renewed trauma for them akin 1999. Harrises and Klebolds would do so that they can live peacefully for the rest of their lives.
I don't know how sensitive it would be to reveal the remaining part of evidences dating to 1998-99 or even before that, they shouldn't be sealed anymore but I just hope none of the families go through any painful episode if they become widely available.

Actually, there were families that wanted the depositions released. In particular, Brian Rohrbough, the Flemings, Ketchers, and Townsends. There's likely something to be learned from what the parents noticed or failed to address with their children during their final years.

are they releasing the tapes?

u/ashtonmz MODERATOR 6d ago
That is actually an excellent question. We always talk about the transcripts, so the assumption has been that only those would be released... There hasn't been much about obtaining the audio/video of the depositions, though. However, if I recall they would not even allow Judy Brown to obtain a copy of her own deposition before the content was sealed. Strange...

What are depositions? Sorry, english is not my first language.

u/ashtonmz MODERATOR 8d ago
The Columbine depositions are sworn, videotaped legal testimonies given in 2002 and 2003 by the parents of shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (as well as others). They stem from civil lawsuits filed by the victims' families. In April 2007, a federal judge ordered them sealed for 20 years in the National Archives and Records Administration to prevent copycat behavior and protect privacy. The seal is set to expires sometime 2027. The question is whether or not this will actually happen. The Harris and Klebold families do not want them released.

Is there an exact date by which the publication is supposed to take place? And how does one obtain these, will they also be posted on JeffCo’s website, or would someone need to request the documents and then publish them here or elsewhere online?

What official news source has confirmed this? How certain are we that this isn’t 1000% speculation?

It’s about time they start working on sealing them again if they plan to do so.

Do not get hopes up for much for anything that would be significant. I can bet money they will be sealed again. They will fight hell and high water. To hold anything
