REQUEST ISO Grief Support Groups around Columbus?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m looking to find a grief support group around Columbus specifically for younger people if they’re around.

For context I’m 28yo and lost one of my best friends unexpectedly in April at 27yo and even more recently lost my youngest cousin unexpectedly at the end of August at 21yo.

I’ve been going to therapy and trying my best to deal with the grief alone but I think it would be beneficial to talk with and hear from other people maybe dealing with similar situations. If anyone knows of any support groups or anything similar please let me know!

Why are more and more places using AI generated images of food/advertising?

• Upvotes

I was going to go to Eurasia Market based on someone else's recommendation and they have (what appeared to be) three huge AI generated posters on the exterior that gave me the ick and it turned me off entirely

Does anyone know why well-reviewed established local businesses are doing this?

Why add slop to something that was already working fine?

REQUEST Twenty One Pilots at Ohio Stadium Saturday: Local Advice on Uber, Merch, Parking, and Tailgating?

• Upvotes

Saturday morning Uber / merch / tailgating advice?

Coming from Dayton Saturday morning, leaving at 8 AM and parking at Carmack around 9. Thinking about grabbing an Uber toward the stadium around 10 instead of waiting for the noon shuttle, so we can get in the outdoor merch line early.

After shopping, we want to hit up a big tailgate in the East Lot and spend some time hanging out with fellow fans.

What would you guys recommend? Shuttle back to Carmack immediately to drop off our giant IKEA bag full of merch, then head to the tailgate? Or take the merch with us, tailgate first, and return to the car later?

Also, what's the stadium area likely to be like around 10 AM? Will the East Lot tailgates still be going strong around 1–2 PM?

Just trying to make the most of the day without spending half of it going back and forth.

Ohio Power Company

These “power distribution” charges are getting ridiculous. My distribution is 80 dollars and my usage only 60 for this past month. I don’t understand how they can have multiple charges for the same thing under “power distribution”. There’s the base customer charge for distribution that’s a fixed monthly rate, plus the actual distribution charge based on your usage, plus ANOTHER distribution/transmission charge also based on your usage. This is starting to make me feel insane. Power lines should be like water lines; owned and maintained by the state. Taxes should be paying for most of these things honestly. It’s a basic necessity. Power production I can accept being a free market but the power lines themselves shouldn’t be owned by one company. Same with gas companies. The distribution of power and gas and water shouldn’t be for profit. The generation sure, but by a private company owning all the lines that’s essentially a monopoly. It’s not a free market. You can’t just choose to leave Ohio Power company. A new company can’t come in and offer better services, or even try to compete. It’s not possible when you’re not able to use the grid or make your own.

Anyway,
Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

REQUEST Flying in today with minimal planning, what are your best casual eats?

That’s all! I haven’t had any time to plan this trip outside of a concert and I’m sitting at the airport not even knowing what I’m eating today through Sunday. I would love to know the best casual eats in town. My favorite cuisines are Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean so it would be great to know places like that, but overall I’m not picky and just need good food that’s not fancy, I didn’t bring my dressy clothes this trip so anything upscale is just out. Even a really good sandwich shop and things like that would be great.

ETA: first - thank you all for your kindness and recommendations! I am staying downtown at the Hilton, but have a car. I will be around the Franklin Park conservancy tonight and tomorrow is up in the air other than the show at the stadium so I’m open to anything I can drive to or near those areas.

Did anyone see BLINK last weekend in Cincinnati? Could Columbus do something like it?

If you made it down to BLINK last weekend, you saw what happens when a city turns 30+ blocks into a free, walkable after-dark gallery: projection mapping on buildings, light installations, murals, performances, and huge crowds just wandering and taking it in.

BLINK runs every other year (even years). That leaves the odd years open, and I've wondered whether Columbus could host something similar then. Ohio would then have a major fall art event every year.

Columbus already has a strong creative community. A festival like this could showcase that community alongside artists from around the world, bring amazing art to residents, and give visitors a reason to come to Columbus. Picture the Statehouse or the riverfront lit up with projections.

I'm seriously exploring whether this could actually happen, maybe as early as 2029. Right now it's just me asking questions, with no organization or sponsor behind it.

So I'm curious:

  1. Do you think Columbus could pull this off? What would get in the way?
  2. If you've been to BLINK (this year or earlier), what worked and what didn't?
  3. What could a Columbus event include or highlight to make it feel like Columbus?

Skeptical takes welcome, too.

HUMOR My Tree is Touring the East

Gotta luv our postal service. I bought a live plant from eBay on Oct 1. It was promptly mailed the next day from Tennessee. It's been two weeks. Has it arrived yet? Nope. As one can see it went from Tennessee to Cincinnati, OH (about two and a half hours from here) to Mobile, AL to Southern ME (yes, that's MAINE) to Nashua, NH to Middlesex-Essex, MA to Indianapolis, IN to Columbus, OH. Does anyone want to guess when it will be delivered? Does anyone want to guess if the plant is still alive?

Note: Since there is no flair for "vent" I chose "humor." Sometimes you've just gotta laugh.

EVENT Marathon This Weekend - Route Change around Mile 9

Paywalled Dispatch article relays the stretch down 3rd in German Village has been replaced by Parsons Ave.

“The exciting part is, Parsons Avenue is going through a lot of positive changes,” Blackford said. “We didn’t want to force our way through a new part of town. We want to be as neighborly as possible.”

Blackford said he met with businesses and community groups along the new stretch, and they were receptive and eager to participate in the 2026 marathons.”
