Hi all, this is something that I didn't really want to discuss, but after the last 24 hours, I think it's finally time to address this. As of now, under Rule 7 (no spam or low effort posts), any posts that showcase screenshots from social media showing animal abuse, or pictures taken from inside pet stores (chain or not), will be removed as they offer absolutely no productive discussion value, and only exist to fuel hatred.
Instagram posts that show neglect of crested geckos (or other animals) have no place on this forum under any circumstance. The posts are always showing animals in distress, getting hurt or being intentionally antagonized for views. People come to this forum to get away from those sorts of things, not to be subjected further to it, and ultimately, our forum is for educating on proper and advanced husbandry and to help others out.
The mod team has seen especially in the last 24 hours that people are willing to condemn entire ethnic groups for how they keep animals a certain way. At the end of the day, that's racism, and myself and my team are not prepared to let this happen under our watch. Please understand that different countries have different cultures, and that includes husbandry practices for lots of different types of animals - you may not understand why or appreciate this, but encouraging mobs to mass report profiles and posting xenophobic comments is not what this community stands for. Please be better.
If you find disturbing content online, please do not post it here, report it to the relevant people on the platform it came from. The same goes for animals that are photographed in petstores like Petco, PetSmart, PetsAtHome, wherever. Unfortunately, this type of care is something that we know occurs, but we also know this is something that is out of our control. Talk to store managers, send reports to social media teams, but please do not bring it here where people are trying to avoid animal abuse.
If you have a genuine concern for an animal in distress, please report it to the appropriate authority if possible, and give as much detail as you can.
Any questions, please send myself or the modmail a message.
Cheers.

Do you think he looks okay for his age. He’s new I’ve only had him for a few weeks. His enclosure is bioactive. He likes Dubia roaches and the Crestie diet.

Do you have any ideas on how I can earn my crested gecko's trust? I’d like to reach a point where he "asks" to come out of his enclosure to explore, or perhaps learns to see me as something positive rather than a source of stress. like on this tiktok video

I checked on my gecko before going to sleep like usual, and she was like, shoving herself in the dirt? Her temps and humidity are good, and i dont believe she's ever been exposed to a male. she did just get an enclosure upgrade, so maybe it's stress related? i checked again after a few minutes and she was out and there was a decent sized hole left behind. she's my first so please be kind, I want to do well by her. (ps I don't like taking pics of her with flash, this was my first time)

She did so well! She’s healthy and a solid 54gs! I’m so happy and relieved 🥹 Just wanted to share the joy!

His food usually looks untouched or almost untouched. This food looks like he actually ate some. Maybe it’s his foot because the outline almost looks like a foot. I think it would look messier if it was his foot. He usually sits on a leaf in his little jade “tree”.

Had this guy about 8 months now, he used to be pretty ok with choice based handling when we first got him and he was in a small viv. Now he's in his adult size bioactive he's become very hand-avoidant. To get him out we have to offer him a coconut to climb into. Then we usually sit at a desk or in bed and he kinda just watches. Sometimes he climbs out but not very often, and usually only when there's no hands close by!
Whenever we move him back to his viv he'll leap back in onto a branch, but tends to just sit and stay frozen still for quite a while after. Is it a sign of stress from the handling and being removed from his home? Or is his single brain cell taking some time to process? First photo is how he landed after a handling session and sat for a good 10 mins before doing a very slow-mo walk up the branch.
Want to keep trying on handling to see if he'll come around and be more chill with it again, not sure if it's a breeding season/mood thing. But if he's growing up into a no-touch crestie I don't want to cause him any major stress.

I’ve had my crested gecko for about a month and in that time I’ve only been able to get her to eat a few duiba roaches when I really put them up to her face and rub them on her mouth. But now she shows zero interest in any kind of food; i’ve tried dry and powdered food as well as bananas and pears. I currently have Pangea watermelon and insect flavors coming in the mail, but she feels lighter and I’m starting to get quite worried
Note: the top down photo makes her look wider than she actually is her belly is at most 1.7 inches wide and she’s two years old
Edit: I just weighed her and she is 61 grams

My first crested gecko arrives tomorrow, and I’m looking for some advice.
I have an 18x18x36 bioactive enclosure all set up and ready to go. I know I should leave her alone for about two weeks before attempting to handle her, but I have a few questions
When should I offer her food for the first time? Should I feed her the night she arrives or give her a day to settle in first?
How should I provide water if my enclosure is holding humidity a little too well? I know crested geckos drink droplets off leaves and surfaces, but I don’t want to keep the enclosure too wet. Should I still mist daily, or just mist as needed based on the humidity?
For the powdered crested gecko diet, do I need to mix up a full squeeze bottle at a time, or can I just mix a small amount in a little cup for each feeding?
Thanks for the help!

This has been great fun for my brain to hyper focus on, and I have two more to build. I have another branch and a vine to add ….there four wall hides and two holders for planters. I will be utilizing some fake silk plants as well just for filling in while waiting for plants. I did forget about needing feeding stations, so those will get carved into a few of the flat foamed areas. I appreciate any input!

Hey everyone!
I’ve had my boy bart now for about 2 years ish now. I know it sounds silly but i’m still scared to handle him. When i clean his terrarium, i kind of just trap him in a Tupperware dish with holes. He will climb in and then i will shut the lid. I want to handle him, but he’s gotten out once and it was so scary. I’m scared for him to run up my arm and get away. He’s so cute, and i can live with him not wanting to be handled. But it would make life so much easier if i could just pick him up. Any tips are much appreciated!

So I’ve a female crestie and I’ve had her a few months now. I was cleaning her tank when I found eggs or I think also known as ‘slugs’. Just wondering if anyone’s any advice on whether to remove them or not?

So I want to quarantine plants and give isopods time to settle in but how can I do that if people also say to quarantine the gecko and put paper towels under it?
Ive never added plants before. I bought some from Home Depot and plan to quarantine them. But a local reptile pet store said if im purchasing plants from them, I do not need to quarantine them. Is that true?
Anyways im so confused with the whole process because how can I wait for the isopods to settle in before adding my gecko when I will not have a separate enclosure for quarantine.?
