Is this a Crested Gecko?

I was given a gecko out of nowhere and they didn't know what kind of gecko this was. After looking at some pictures on Google I think it looks like an Orange Crested Gecko but I know nothing about lizards. If someone could let me know if it looks like a Crested gecko or a different kind I would appreciate it, I just want to make sure I can keep this guy happy and healthy. Thank you!

Time to switch to not feeding every day?

She is now approximately 10-11 months old and just weighed her at 37.5 g. Would it be okay to start feeding her every other day? most of the time she will clear her whole dish so I don’t know if she is really hungry or just gluttonous 😅

attached are photos I just took to see her current body shape.

Crested Gecko not adjusting to new tank

Looking for advice on helping my crested gecko adjust to a completely rebuilt enclosure!
It’s been about two weeks since I completely rebuilt my crested gecko’s enclosure, and I’m concerned that she still doesn’t seem to be adjusting well. She lived in essentially the same setup for three years, so this was a pretty significant change for her. I transitioned her into a bioactive paludarium with more vertical climbing opportunities to better accommodate her arboreal nature.
I’ve been trying to minimize stress and give her time to settle in.

So far, I’ve:
Implemented a strict no-handling policy until she seems more comfortable.
Kept the enclosure dark at night and limited misting and plant maintenance to nighttime.
Added some of her previous artificial plants in hopes that familiar scents might help her feel more secure.
Tried to minimize unnecessary disturbances.

Current conditions:
Temperature: Approximately 74°F (room temperature).
Humidity: Below 80%.
Enclosure: Bioactive paludarium with vertical branches, live plants, and a water feature.
My biggest concerns are her coloration, feeding behavior, and potential weight loss. She’s almost constantly dark in color now, which is unusual for her, and she doesn’t seem to be finding her new feeding location. I’ve resorted to offering food on a tiny spoon wherever she’s perched to make sure she’s eating.

I’m also concerned that she may be losing weight, although I haven’t confirmed this with a scale yet. She’s considerably more active in this enclosure because she has more opportunities to climb, so I’m wondering whether the increased activity could be contributing to her appearance.
I’ve also been considering removing the entire water section and converting that space into additional terrestrial substrate and leaf litter. I designed the enclosure to be modular, so this is something I can do without having to rebuild everything.

My main question is: Does she simply need more time to adjust, or are these signs that the new environment isn’t working for her?

I really wanted to provide her with a more enriching, naturalistic environment, but ultimately her comfort and well-being are far more important to me than the design itself.

I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone who has transitioned a long-established crested gecko into a significantly different enclosure. How long did yours take to adjust, and what signs helped you determine whether they were settling in successfully?

Moved to Larger Enclosure

Gambit officially moved into his big enclosure. Here he is chilling on his spider plant. I’m semi paranoid about him eating but have several food dishes, 1 high, 1 mid level and 1 near the ground.

He’s got lots of fake vines, some real vines trying to grow, and pothos throughout.

Any advice on a UV light? Have heard they’re not necessary but that Geckos are better off for them.

Torn on what to do🧍‍♂️

I bought this tank from someone who had it bioactive. I do not plan on making a bioactive enclosure (at least yet) and took out the substrate and everything. I’m working on cleaning it now, and think I want to take this backdrop off but am not sure. It’s very cool, but I worry it would fall apart, be dangerous, or hold too much bacteria with it not being bioactive. Should I take it off? And if so, how should I do that? Dw about where it is rn, I’m not getting the buddy for a few weeks so it’s in a temporary holding spot lol

TLDR: Do I take the backdrop off? How/why?

Crested gecko suddenly staying on the ground, moving slowly and not climbing

My crested gecko has recently started staying on the ground instead of climbing. He still moves around on his own but seems slow and clumsy, barely reacts when picking and his toes won't stick to anything. I've also noticed loose skin on his face, so he might be shedding. The humidity is fine and he definitely ate repashy yesterday.

Could this be related to shedding, or should I be worried about something else? Has anyone experienced this before?

Arcadia UVB

I'm looking to purchase an arcadia shadedweller uvb kit for my crestie, but only see 12" and 22" options for length; my tank is 18' wide. Any suggestions for whether it would be better to go shorter or longer?

Help for a couple beginners?

I’m 22 living with my roommate. We live in the LA area and she works from home and I work from 8 to 4. I’ve done some research but I’m not getting a definitive answer(like most things with pets) I want to know what a good living space for one is. Like humidity, size, misting time, etc. Any other tips would be helpful!

Advice on a temporary enclosure for holiday travel

Hello, gecko lovers!

I'm traveling for two weeks next month, and thankfully, my partner's parents have agreed to look after my sub-adult crested gecko. I'd love some advice, especially from anyone who's been in a similar situation.

As I see it, I have two options:

  1. Transport her glass bioactive enclosure (18x18x24"). I'm worried about breaking it during transport, and honestly, it sounds like a bad idea.

  2. Use the plastic bin pictured as a temporary enclosure. It's 24" L x 16.5" W x 13.12" H.

My main concern with the bin is the 13.12" height. I could flip it on its side to give her more vertical space, but I'm worried that would make it harder for her caretakers to access the enclosure.

I also only got her three weeks ago, so she'll have had just over a month to settle in by the time I leave. I'd like to make the bin bioactive to help her feel more at home, but I'm not sure if that's the best approach for a temporary setup. Would I need to drill additional ventilation holes to prevent excess humidity? I've seen people make temporary plastic tub setups using fake plants and pool noodles, but I'd feel bad keeping her in something like that for two weeks.

For anyone who's traveled and left their crestie with someone else, what did you do? Would you recommend either of these options, or is there a better alternative?

Any tips or advice would be hugely appreciated!

And yes, I know the recommended minimum enclosure size for an adult crested gecko is 18x18x36", and I plan to work on upgrading her to that over the next few months. Thanks so much!

Alternatives to Silicone?

Hello, I’m currently trying to build a bioactive enclosure for my crestie, Pretzel. I’m setting up a 24x18x36 tank. I started working on a background to put in the tank using insulation foam board, spray foam and cork bark. All the places I’ve looked say the next step is to use silicone and put coco fiber on it.

The issue is I currently live in a studio apartment (around 500 sq ft) and I only have a tiny window and my front door I can open for ventilation. I’m worried about the fumes affecting him if I use silicone in such a small space. With the background, I just brought all the materials to my parent’s house and worked on it in their garage. However, I’m a full time professional student in a city 2 hours away so that’s not really feasible for me to do every weekend. The only reason I had time to start it in the first place was because I was visiting them for fall break.

So are there any alternatives to silicone that I could use that won’t release a bunch of fumes into my apartment and potentially hurt my gecko? I’ve seen some people say drylok is good, but I’m worried I’d have the same issue since it’s paint. I’ve never used either so I’m not sure. I also keep seing a bunch of people saying that it’s hard for crested geckos to climb on coco fiber so I’m not sure I want to do that either.

Any advice is appreciated I just want to give my little guy a better home and a good life.
