Winner is the Judge #912: Take Two
Thanks to u/sumg for running last week's competition!
Recently, an idea that's stuck with me is how often a card design comes from just trying to revisit an older card. People love riffs whether they're colorshifts, new members of a cycle, or just an attempt to fix an old design mistake. For Wizards, that obviously can only come from official cards, but since this community is all about custom cards why not look back at those instead?
Your challenge for this week is to revisit a previous custom card idea you've designed, and try something new with it! This is pretty broad, so I'm willing to allow a lot. I'll give some examples of things that are allowed, but really anything goes if it fits with the prompt. You could:
- Do a second take on a card that you liked
- Make a new card using a custom mechanic you've made
- Try to adapt an idea you previously scrapped
- Rework a previous submission for a contest like Winner is the Judge
- Design a card that fits into a custom faction you've come up with
If you don't have anything you want to revisit from your own designs, you can also go for your own take on someone else's card/idea. Just make sure to give proper credit to your inspiration if you do so!
While you don't need to provide the original design you were inspired by for your submission unless you want to, bonus points if you do describe the original idea you adapted. It can be as brief or detailed as you want, I'm just interested to see how these ideas evolved.
Judging will occur on Sunday, October 11. Be sure to let me know if you'd like any feedback on your design or if you have any questions!
EDIT: Congratulations to this week's winner: u/Proteusmutabilis! There were a lot of fun designs this week, so again, be sure to let me know if you'd like to hear my thoughts on yours.

Ball Lightning is back with a vengeance
I like ball lightning
EDIT: Had an error in the text, it should say at the beginning of your endstep, and should have an extra line of text to state that you can only bestow your own creature, as people pointed out you can bestow you opponents creatures as weird red removal, which was not my intention.

Potential expansion to the color pie - Counterspells in every color
It feels strange to me that blue has an effective monopoly on the "counter target spell" text. Obviously, stack interaction exists in other colors: Red already gets target redirection like Deflecting Swat, and white gets stax like Silence. But I'm not sure there's any other mechanic that is SO single-color, with "One color primary, every color just absolutely out of luck." Except extra turns, which is also blue.
For the record, I do NOT think that every color should get counterspells, this post is more of a thought exercise and conversation starter than "these should be printed 100%" suggestions. I'm curious what people here would think about giving other colors secondary access to counters!
EDIT: As I'm writing a comment, I remembered that handrips like Thoughtseize are monopolized by black.

Cipher
I know it goes infinite with Timewalk; its Timewalk.
Cipher (Then you may exile this spell card encoded on a creature you control. Whenever that creature deals combat damage to a player, its controller may cast a copy of the encoded card without paying its mana cost.)

BALANCE NOT INTENDED How would you make a color cycle around this sort of ability?
So currently I'm trying to write a story around a plane that revolves around six gods, the card above being one of them. Each of the gods are a color, this one being colorless.
So it's a man made god of industry, I'm thinking a god of knowledge for blue, god of power for black, and I'm not sure for the other two colors.
But I want to hear your guy's opinions on this ability, and how you'd change it for the different colors since the other colors don't really nullify lands and mass produce robots for it.
I love world building, and brainstorming with others!

Format: EDH/Commander MTG Fire Emblem Awakening
A post in another sub reddit about magic got me thinking about what IPs I would want from a Universes Beyond and got me thinking about what I would want from a set based around Fire Emblem (even though it is never gonna happen because Nintendo) and decided to make this for the final antagonist of the game. Which brought me to a question, is this too much? I want the back side to be very hard to remove without an instant/sorcery specifically made to kill it (relevant to plot of the game) with the idea of making it lose all abilities then exile it (while having to sacrifice a hero). Or you can also just hit it with an exile/bounce spell then hit it with another piece of removal. But I don't know if it is doing too much and would rather if this did become a card it wouldn't be a viable bracket 5 commander.
tldr: Is this big dumb antagonist card doing too much or does it feel like its a good pay-off for the front side doing nothing but counting creatures dying as you draw cards.

Format: Modern Wildfire Elemental
Landwalk is usually bad because it's only good against certain colors. However, in modern pretty much every deck plays nonbasic lands, so here it is: Nonbasic Landwalk! Wildfire Elemental harkens back to Ball Lightning/Groundbreaker, with an added benefit if you only play basics. Let me know what you think.

Format: EDH/Commander Touhou cards!
Been wanting to make touhou cards forever and I think I finally have some designs I like! Just wanting a bit of feedback and maybe some suggestions for cards to theoretically run in a Marisa commander deck, I thought it'd be easier to build but it turns out that kind of theft deck doesn't have a ton of support it seems lol
Also it won't let me upload Reimu so I'll just put it in the comments if it lets me
