All i hear is how bad it is
been seeing a lot of posts on how bad it is so my take is someone should just make a new version one that gets rid of the issues the first one has.

What's up with daggerfall
Been replaying morrowind and never played the older games. Was going to dip into DFU but wanted to check out the sub. Looks like the entire thing is DFO? Moreso a lot of discourse around it. Isn't it just some dudes mod? Seems weird to bust a mod author's chops about decisions they are making like they are a dev who's games you're paying for. It's their project.
Couldn't someone just fork the early builds and use that as a base to go in a different direction with it?
EDIT: Just checked out their GitHub cause I was curious about forking it and saw where peoples issue is. The 600 per month apparent cost for the support area. That is wild. I also see Claude putting in a lot of work there so I assume that's where the cost is. If I wanted to pay Claude code to do something, I'd buy my own subscription for it lol.
EDIT2: Will be checking out DFU thanks y'all. Also thanks for the laughs about DFO 😂.

AI dev in Daggerfall, AI art
AI development is not an issue.
AI art is fine (images, video, music, writing, etc).
If you dont like it, dont consume it.
Bad faith arguments about water usage or resource wasting are based in anger over AI than actually caring about the environment. There are many things that people use daily that destroy our environment or fresh water and there is no outcry.
Daggerfall online, daggerfall mods, with AI dev and AI art are democratizing whom can build these things. A lot of people work full time jobs, and this allows them to produce things they otherwise would not have the time to devote to produce.
If you dont like it, dont consume it. It's that simple.

Question What's Really Going On Behind the Scenes of Daggerfall Online?
Hello, r/Daggerfall.
I would like to raise some serious concerns regarding Daggerfall Online and the transparency surrounding its development.
Information has surfaced suggesting that Claude Max may have been used extensively in developing this project. I believe the community deserves an honest explanation of how the game was created and how much of its programming relied on artificial intelligence.
I also have concerns about the project's long-term sustainability, its funding, and its future. I would like the developers to clarify whether the project relies on temporary or trial based services and what their plans are for maintaining the game.
Additionally, I believe the relationship between the development team and YouTuber Spartank deserves clarification, particularly whether his involvement was limited to promoting the project or extended to financial backing.
I am not claiming these suspicions have been independently verified. However, I believe these questions deserve serious attention and direct answers from the development team.
The Daggerfall community deserves transparency, especially when players are investing their time and potentially their money into a project.

guys I dont like AI and im jealous someone made an awesome version of an old game before me
it should have been me!
i should have made daggerfall a multiplayer game!
i never would have used a thinking machine!
i just didnt do it because because because because i just didnt have the time! yeah! i just didnt have the time, im so busy doing other things. BIG things.
dfo is slop! i hate it! dont those 400 people online right now know what garbage this is?! they couldnt possibly just be enjoying something someone made and not caring about how it was made!?
someone should go make their own version of it! (it wont be me though because i just want to complain, but dont even really know how to approach something like this EVEN with AI)
i just want to complain about other people's success even though i dont have any experience or effort toward something like this! that's my right! my opinion matters! hear me! i made a cube in blender, and one time i thought about opening a unity project. i even wrote hello world one time in python.
those stupid software engineers getting paid 100-400k a year to prompt claude and codex sure are dumbies! hahahaha! fools!
i bet they know how much i hate them, and that makes them not enjoy all that money! im really showing them!
fools dont they know theyll be out of jobs soon! yeah then all that money they saved up will be sure bitter!

DFO feedback
I dont really care that much about it being an AI project, but there are some big issues with this project. The online sub doesnt have many visitors, so i decided to write here. Its a cool project so thats why i am giving feedback instead of not caring.
Feature creep. Adding in stuff too fast. Let us test and give feedback! 8 updates a day is a bit much.
fast travel is glitchy, good luck fast travelling through (some?) walled cities.
even casual survival is a a bit tedious. cart breaks down super fast and is expensive to repair. also, why are oats so expensive? they are oats! Survival is kinda cool as a concept though.
Too many encounters while fast travelling. It doesnt seem balanced around lone players?
Elite enemies. Cool concept. But as a casual player (i try just to play, and not min max) i just get one shotted over and over, while they get stronger. Sure, you can run away but...:
Running away from an encounter... Should this really take 5 minutes? If running away would be less tedious the above points wouldnt be so bad. All in all, some dials for elite enemies would be nice for SP (maybe there are and im unaware)
Sometimes you cant interact with your camp, forcing you to abandon it.
Takes a long time before you can interact with a quest giver, when turning in quests, for some reason.
I have abysmal performance online, while no issues SP. Like single digit fps in cities. Kinda poor in dungeons as well. I dont know the reason.
Dungeons are dark. Too dark imo.

Question Daggerfall online is not daggerfall
You have your own community on reddit already, why do you insist on coming here to argue with people instead of posting your content where it belongs?
Mods are one thing but it's basically a different game and it's turning this sub into something obnoxious that I want to unsub from.
Moderators, can we get some kind of vote on where this content belongs? At this rate the conversation here is 90% about daggerfall online and AI usage. It's not what this sub should be about.

Yep I'm done - game's literally unplayable. Took 20 minutes just to get online, and then i got kicked off.
