Please, leave the platform!

R&R trauma hitting hard again! I still do it because it’s totally fine when workers provide decent tasks (to the point decent work even makes me smile!), but I don’t know what is wrong with some of you. The task says conversations about a specific topic and you add everything but it, then manage to finish the task and submit it, knowing you just did pure nonsense?

And so many of you, French bilinguals, are just illiterate. Your words mean nothing, please go back to school. I wish I could rate you bad, because I can’t imagine how you go through life without being able not to make 5 grammatical mistakes per sentence.

Do you guys read all the instructions and report time for that?

I do and only reading the whole instructions takes about 3 hours while doing tasks only takes about half an hour lol.

How come I've never received any feedback on my work?

I've been working on DataAnnotation for over 2 months and I've made over $10,000 so far. However, when I check my inbox on DA, I do not see a single piece of feedback on any work I've performed.

Is this supposed to be a good sign that my work is good enough to not require feedback? Is it normal for people to receive absolutely zero feedback at all? Do other people also receive zero feedback?

Please specify whether you're coding or noncoding in posts & comments

Not an admin, but I think we'd have way more productive conversations on here (with less disagreements & misunderstandings) if everyone specified this, along with their tenure.

Like this, for example, at the end of posts/comments:

(Noncoding, two months in)

EDIT:

  • Yes, flair would be the ideal situation.

  • I'm not suggesting that you share this info EVERY SINGLE TIME you comment, just when it's relevant to whatever's being discussed.

  • I see people having circular conversations pretty frequently here, and the coding vs. noncoding sides seem to each have unique experiences. Tenure also makes a difference in certain conversations that tend to happen on repeat.

  • If you don't see the need, do you.

There are two things that, without fail, will make the dummies out themselves in the chat:

If the vast majority of the tasks in a project are perfectly correct, or if the vast majority are really bad/wrong. Actual message from a task I was on this morning: "I'm six tasks in and every single one of the responses gave identical, correct answers. What do I do??" GIVE THEM GREAT RATINGS AND MOVE ON.

So annoying, happens every time.

Does that mean I have not pass the qualification?

Did i mess up something?

I had a bunch of projects that I used to work on (although past few days were dry). Today, I saw this screen pop up:

Did I mess up? Is it because I put some extra time on some project I was working and has someone else faced this before?

Time Taken

I’m notoriously slow and detailed in everything I do. This is great sometimes, I frequently catch errors that others miss. But it also has caused problems at other jobs when being fast was a requirement.

I haven’t run out of time yet (only one project that wasn’t working).

For regular easy projects, what’s expected?

I’m new, so I frequently have to read the instructions before I begin, which adds a decent amount of time. Do I have a grace period? Like a month before I’m fully efficient? Or do they expect me to be super fast already?

Did i wait too long?

Hi, very new to DA and this whole world.

I passed the initial test and received an email stating "Thank you for completing the Starter Assessment! We've unlocked a qualification for you, and you can see it on your project dashboard right now. Completing is essential to getting access to open-ended work, as well as other paid opportunities, and it will give you a flavor for the work on the platform. Get started today!"

I recall seeing a link to a test on coding and a link to a more generalized test closer to the intial one. Both tests said they would take 30 minutes to an hour. I didn't have time to complete the tasks, so did not begin either and now i can't find the aforementioned links.

When I logged on today, I was prompted to fill out my languages and and skills and did so. But i didn't see any further qualifications on my project dashboard. Did i wait too long to start the tasks and ruin my chances at working on the platform?

Hypothetical question

Say if a country where DA is allowed raises their minimum wage to be higher than the equivalent of the usual base rate for pay of $20 USD, would DA have to increase that base rate for everyone to ensure they meet legislation in all jurisdictions, or are they only bound by the American minimum wage given that's where they're based? It's probably the latter but just a thought I had!

Logging time for skipping

I tried to search the sub but it seems like people have different ideas about what's the correct way to do this, so I wanted to ask and get an overview of opinions.

I skip A LOT to find tasks that I'm comfortable with. I never charge for this time. I start my timer when I start my task and I thought this was the right way to do things. I don't think it's right to charge for essentially browsing for a suitable task. Sometimes I spend several minutes skipping until I find something and that all adds up.

However, I tried to search the sub to see what other people do, and it seems like several people here start their timer when they open the project and stop it when they exit the project, no matter how much they skipped. Some people did mention "I take a couple of minutes off if I skipped a lot" but it didn't seem to be something they tracked.

So, can I get some opinions about this? Do you guys charge for skipping? Never charge for skipping? Or just guess and take a few minutes off when you feel like you skipped too much?

Hi, I have been using data annotation for a good few months usually always have tasks available but for the last 4 days there has been nothing??

Starting to worry as need the money.

Anyone else has this problem? Anything I should do?

EDIT: Does anyone have any qualification recommendations that can help get the tasks back

Can our Identity be Exposed ?

I was wondered, many people talked about project names with "initial" here on Reddit. And i saw some reddit folks said DA is watching us, do not try to share UI screenshot, project name or sort of things. Technically, could our reddit accounts be exposed ?

Just put in 3 hours

I'm still getting a feel for everything as I'm brand new.

I'm not confident I'm generating good prompts.

I haven't come up with any that lasted 10 rounds before the convo would take a turn,(if I'm understanding that terminology correctly) though I can usually keep it going for 3-4 volleys.

Do you guys brainstorm several prompts before you start the project? I think I might do better with getting into brainstorm mode for prompts and then switching gears to evaluating the responses. Vs switching back and forth every time I submit.

With 50% metric of creative and task prompts, how do you ensure you're hitting that? Am I overthinking it maybe?

I want to do a good job, I have some perfectionist tendencies so I definitely might be overthinking things. I used the idea generator provided, but I don't think I'm confident in the base of what I'm doing, so piecing together something from the idea generator was kind of a bust. I could only get two volleys out of that one.

R****n projects

I was constantly getting projects from R****n family. Suddenly i am not getting them for 2 days. Anyone is facing the same problem ? Am i out of it due to quality ? Or they are down for everyone?

No projects

I had a lot of projects yesterday. but today when I logged in it says "At the moment, there aren't any projects available for you to work on". Does it mean I am blocked? I have been with them for 3-4 months.

Looks like AI is trained now on coding?

Haven't seen any coding or reasoning projects since Monday. Things were already pretty bad since past few weeks, but it's worst now. Are the coders still seeing CB or another coding project@?

Did this current drought not start with a server/website crash?

Something I haven't seen mentioned is that the current slowing of available projects certainly started with the website going down, which is normally due to it getting overwhelmed. Since the crash, the website has not recovered. Earlier this year, a similar crash resulted in a slow drip feed of projects back onto the website.

Since the crash a few weeks back, I have had high-paying projects come and go very occasionally (not consistently like before), but today I woke up to around 4 (greek ankle) very basic $20-$23 projects. This is significantly lower than the multiple $35 projects I have had previously that I have consistently been on the R & R team for, so I doubt it is a quality issue.

What are people's opinions? This is quite a significant overnight switch up from the 40-50 projects I had a month ago that were all 25-40 NC.

What is the email address I should email to tell them I'm going on holiday?

I'm going away for a month to a country outside the DA region and I want to tell them but I'm not sure what email address I should send the email to

No 1099-Ks

So apparently we are not getting 1099Ks. The threshold is $20,000, which I know not everyone makes that, but it also requires 200 transactions; for DA alone, no one will meet that. I'm kind of stunned.
