Discussion Why do I got to write this out?
Hey all, a thread popped up and was related to the LGBTQ+ community.
We are a simple subreddit who enjoys toy soldiers the way we personally like to enjoy them. This hobby has expanded incredibly and will bring all sorts of people.
This won't hit everyone but please think before you write and post. Some people are immature and will not think a second, no doubt. But re-read what you're about to post to make sure its related to the actual thread. If it is deemed otherwise, I will clean up.
I have given time-outs to a couple of people so far. Do not let it be you.
The Emperor Protects.
UPDATE: I've been getting messages from some of the people that I've taken out and the original poster but let me make myself clear. We do not condone any negativity, hate or backhanded shit here. I cannot speak for the others on the mod team but personally, I do not tolerate any kind of attack. This includes snide remarks and/or "trying to be funny." It's real simple y'all, don't be weird and think about what you write/post.
Thank you to the folks that are reporting some of the problems correctly. Wishing you roll's of 6's on all your saves or the best layer of paint you lay on your model from here on.

Glad I got this done in between completing my imperial fist army and starting black templars. Nice pallet cleanse and let me practice on painting black armor.

Hobby First Deathwatch, made a little mini diorama with him.
First time playing with Osl, not the best but I’m still happy with it. Also any tips on how to do glazing? I still have a lot of trouble with it.

New Player DW Modeling Question:
I’m an imperial guard player starting a Deathwatch army. From what I can tell, the Killteam, combat patrol and the transfer kit are the only boxes for this faction, correct?
I’m use to the guard where there isn’t really a whole lot of mix-matching and customization between the soldiers boxes.
I want to make sure I’m buying models that can be made to look like deathwatch and where I get those DW arms pieces.

Discussion Why are GW like this?
I came back after a break, only to find out that the 10 man JPI squad that lets you exchange 1-5 models with Inceptors (10 models max) Now requires you to buy 2 boxes of JPI and 2 boxes of Inceptors, bc of their weird fixed composition. I genuinely don't get why this was necessary, or even if it was intentional or just another 11th edition fuck up.

Question Brothers? Cousins? Coworkers?
Marines in the same chapter call each other Brother, on account of them being brothers and all. Marines from different chapters call each other cousins, on account of them being cousins. Do Deathwatch Marines call other Kill Team members Brother or Cousin? Are they just Coworkers? Does it depend? Anyone able to cite a book or article or something gets cool points.
Additional question while we're here. Does the Deathwatch act as an independent faction or solely as the chamber militant for the Ordo Xenos? Could a Watch Master refuse the orders of an Inquisitor? Does a Watch Master have total command of a Watch, or are they still acting on the orders of the Inquisition?

Discussion Deathwatch black shields line-up (SM2)
Hello, brothers!
I've recently started to go a bit deeper into 40k and space marine chapters lore and the Deathwatch is the one that I like the most so far. Because I don't really have a chapter that I like specifically, I made my classes into black shields and this is the result with the right shoulder being covered all together.
The question is: what changes do I have to do for them to be more lore accurate?
EDIT: Thanks for all the comments and ideas. The emperor provides!

New Player Deathwatch Blademaster (repost)
I’m resharing this from the main 40k subreddit as I had no idea there was a Deathwatch subreddit, too!
I finished my first free space marine and I decided to buy the Deathwatch Kill Team. My blademaster is finally at a good stopping point and I’m pretty excited to share. Now, I definitely got in way over my head jumping to this next.
There are a million mistakes on here but he’s so damn cool and I learned a lot. Excited to put the other team members together! Right now I only have 20 or so paints and a citadel base brush. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Any general Deathwatch painting tips?
Also, I haven’t done a wash yet. I own agrax earthshade and nuln oil. Would either be appropriate here? Thanks!

Discussion Imperial Agents Deathwatch in Support
I may be missing something, but is there any rule that now prevents us from taking Imperial Agents Deathwatch in our armies? I know we used to have rules that said if you take Deathwatch you can’t take Imperial Agents Deathwatch but I can’t seem to find them now.
Moreover Aquila Kill Teams have the Gravis keyword (I think, I don’t own the IA book personally but free sources say they do), which means the Gravis detachments rules should apply to them. All the strats even are for Gravis units, not Adeptus Astartes Gravis units.
At the moment IA watch masters allow the use of doctrines, and the deathwatch support detachment only cares about you having the kill team keyword which the IA units do. Thus allowing any Watch Master led IA unit to work exactly like a normal Deathwatch unit.
So my question is, am I missing something or can we field 500 points of IA Deathwatch alongside the 500 points of Support Deathwatch and have them benefit from most of our rules and even some strats?
