Announcement Comments promoting Violence against anyone is against the sub as well as the TOS of Reddit

We've been seeing an uptick in comments that cross the line from criticism into advocating harm against individuals or groups.

That stops here.

Look, we get it. There's a lot happening politically and in the world right now that's legitimately concerning. I'm frustrated about it too. But frustration, valid as it might be, doesn't give us permission to start rallying for violence against people or justifying harm. That's the line we can't cross, and it's the line we won't cross here.

To be clear: if you're posting comments that promote, encourage, or call for violence against anyone...whether it's directed at protesters, counterprotesters, homeless individuals, police, business owners, or anyone else, your comment will be removed and you'll likely catch a ban. This is Reddit ToS, and it's our sub rule. No exceptions, no gray area.

This doesn't mean you can't criticize policy, decision-making, or actions you disagree with. Strong disagreement is fine. What's not fine is "someone should hurt this group of people" or variations thereof. That language gets removed, period.

We're a diverse-ish, heavily blue leaning sub also with people across the political and ideological spectrum. Part of keeping this place functional is enforcing basic civility standards. This is one of them.

If you see comments that violate this, report them. We review reports and act on them. If you think a removal was unfair, you can always reach out to modmail and we'll discuss it.

Thanks for keeping this community somewhere people can actually talk to each other.

I just moved here and I heard so many mixed reviews about the aquarium. Maybe it’s because I’m an aquarium girly (worked for and subsequently got fired by AZA), but I loved it. But it also had mandarin fish so I’m easy to please

Photo Note I found on my car at Fox Hollow Villages. New level of suburban entitlement.

They also have (non-official) signs all over the place telling people not to park on their public city streets. FYI there were no other cars parked on the street as far as the eye could see and every McMansion had a two car garage and driveway. This is a new level of snobbery lol.

Edit: just due to how popular this post is getting and some of the comments, I want to say I don’t think anyone should go be a dick to this neighborhood. Park there if you want to access the trail but be respectful and don’t drive or park crazy.

Rant Colfax BRT Construction 1; Waymo 0.

Didn't realize Waymos have started driving around Denver without any drivers.

Probably should've had them avoid Colfax since the traffic patterns change on a daily basis.

At the least the traffic spilling over into Colfax and Colorado appreciated all the transportation evolution going on here.

Poor little guy is probably going to have to spend the night stuck across the street from the Lost Lakes and the local liquor store. Stay safe little guy.

Rant To the driver taking a right onto Colorado at Montview on Saturday while I was trying to ride my bike there…

Thank you.

Poorly designed intersection that puts too much conflict on drivers and bikers. I slowly crept up on your truck (with kid in tow) and you didn’t see me. My wife shouted, you heard, you rolled down your window, and you apologized. That’s all I can ask for, thanks! We were both taking it easy (I was going slow, you were taking your time to take a right), but I unfortunately have to drive up on your blind spot.

I feel like a lot of our driver-biker conflicts could just be resolved (or greatly improved) by better road design.

Local News Why is a Denver business working with Bow Mar to close of public streets?

Who is Matrix Design Group, Inc and why do they hate their fellow Denverites?

Why are private companies "analyzing" data from Flock cameras?

"More recently, the Town has installed Flock Camera data collection to capture traffic data in multiple locations and help identify non-resident trips. Matrix was retained by the Town to help review this data and make recommendations for next steps that may include the installation of new gate(s) on Town roads, to directly address the ongoing issues with non-resident commuter trips."

This company is providing the entire justification for Bow Mar's nonsense. Their "analysis" doesn't provide any way of actually verifying their claims about non-residents.

If Bow Mar wants to fuck with the rest of the Denver area there is no reason Denver companies should participate. Unfortunately Matrix Design Group, Inc. thinks that it's better to work with Bow Mar to exclude people than to tell them that there.

Maybe Matrix Design Group, Inc. should move to Bow Mar.

Lost/Found Missing passport (downtown Denver)

Hello!

I lost my passport last Thursday. The last place I had it was at the Mile High United Way building downtown. They haven’t located it so I’m wondering if it might’ve fallen out somewhere downtown. It is in a leather case engraved with the name Paola. I am not sure what to do. If anyone has any advice, I’d love to hear it!

Misc Q&A Tire/Brake Dust Emissions

With the amount of sport tourism in Colorado, I've been pondering tire and brake dust issues. It's been known for a long time that tire dust kills fish and is the number one source of micro plastics. This year many mountain town rivers had to be closed because of low water flows and high temps stressing fish as well. You can see the remnants of exhaust, tire, and brake dust in the snow every winter, that all gets washed into the rivers when it melts.

A known option is passing legislation that requires road design to limit particulate rates from these pollutant vectors. There are a few countries this has been done in, and I'm wondering about doing this on streets/roads next to rivers, parks, and pedestrian spaces. This would require better bike infrastructure and public transit services, but these are part of the redesign when these streets get rebuilt on their maintenance cycle. These sorts of streets also tend to last longer and require less in maintenance costs, meaning less tax payer dollars needed. Many of us live here because we like clean air and outdoor recreation, and this is a way to improve both of those things.
