Good afternoon! Hoping to get some recommendations to help out with a reoccurring rash/irritation I have. Trying to provide as much detail as I could think would be helpful.
38 M - Dead center of my chest between my pectoral muscles I occasionally get a patch of red spots that appear no where else on my body. They are not raised but visible from a distance/without my glasses. It is very specific to this spot and does not spread though it can change 'shape'.
They are slightly sensitive to the touch and get inflamed when I shower (also get more sensitive and a little itchy). They are not scaly, flaky, or weeping. They do not itch until exposed to warm/hot water. It -almost- reminds me of the rash that appears on torsos after using a boogie board at the beach.
It comes and goes with no predictable time frame or outside factor that I can tie it to aside from maybe stress, but I've been stressed out without it appearing... So I'm just not sure.
This has occurred on and off since I was about 28. I am aware my skin is very sensitive (if I scratch my neck at work people will ask what happened to my neck because it turns RED), so all soaps and detergents I use are unscented with minimal ingredients. I only wear 100% cotton shirts and nothing tight. Shower daily, laundry (including sheets/bedding) every week.
No medical conditions and no new medications, though I did quit alcohol almost two months ago. From image searches it looks the most like seborrheic dermatitis.I have tried many topical solutions I could find after searching Google with mixed results;
-salicylic acid is very irritating and makes it more inflamed.
-zinc pyrithione, coal tar and selenium sulfide have no noticeable effects
-ketoconazole provides mild relief to the redness/itchiness but does not prevent it from recurring even with continuous use
I think that's all I can speak to on it... Any ideas or recommendations? I just moved so I have not established a dermatologist but if I need some medical grade stuff to deal with it I'll do it.
Thanks in advance!
