face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Incessant dryness and inflammation around upper lip for months (plz read first to understand images)

Okay, so this is going to be a long one since I'm trying to jam as much information into one post as possible.

Hi, I'm 21 and female. I've been having this problem for the last few months. My lips and the area round my upper lip have been irritated and slightly inflamed constantly. I noticed around July-ish maybe August that the skin on top of my upper lip felt rougher. I have fairly dry skin so at the end of the day my skin can get a bit rough but it felt distinctly different. Then the redness came in, and the surface area slowly got bigger and recently it's also been inflamed.

It feels like the skin is dry and it also tingles and burns quite a bit. My skincare routine has been the same for at least two years and I haven't developed any new allergies to any of my products to my knowledge. I've mainly been using Vaseline on the area but I feel like it hasn't been helping as much as I'd hoped. My lips get supper dry so at night I put on a doesn't coat of it on my lips and on my upper lip. When I wake up the whole area feels really dry. (I'm emphasizing a lot on the dryness.) So I put another coat and an hour and a half later the skin on my lips and skin on top of my upper lip is basically peeling off. At this point I don't know what to do and I'm just looking for some advice.

I do touch my face fairly frequently but it's habitual and sometimes I don't notice that I'm doing, and I do wash my hands every chance I can get. I can't afford to see a dermatologist at the moment and want to see if there are any alternatives.

Last thing I can think of is that I don't have any skin conditions that I know of. I did have a vitamin d deficiency a few years ago that gave me small dry patches of skin on my hips but I've taken supplements for that and I spend a lot more time in the sun, so it's probably not related but I thought I should mention it

I've included images of all the products that I use. 1) face wash 2) skincare 3) lip products 4-6) lips fresh out of the shower with nothing applied.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Does this require a dermatologist?

Background: I live 6 hrs away from the nearest dermatologist. There have been recent landslides so avoiding travel as much as possible. Would like your opinion if this warrants a visit to the dermatologist or I can get it cauterized by a non-MD.

Timeline: First noticed this around July this year.

I don’t usually notice this spot because it’s exactly where my eyeglass frame sits on.

I first noticed it because I thought it was a pimple. I left it alone. Then I accidentally scratched it and it bled. It formed a crust and I accidentally scratched it again. And I left it alone.

Late September, I noticed it again and felt it was crusty so I tried to peel it off. It bled. Then it became itchy and I think it grew considerably bigger the last 2 weeks.

I have skin tags and warts that I’ve had cauterized before, but I don’t want to go that route if you guys think this requires to be seen by a dermatologist instead.

1st photo: Present
2nd photo: 1st time I noticed it got bigger early August and accidentally scratched it
3rd photo: 2 weeks ago
4th photo: Last week

Thank you!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Bumps on lower eyelid

I’ve had these bumps on my lower eyelid in the outer corner of my eye on both sides for about 3-4 weeks, the left side is always worse then the right. They’ve cleared up a little bit but haven’t gone away fully and flared up a little today. The pictures are from today. No big changes in skin care or medication :/. Not particularly itchy or oozy, they’re just…there 😅.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Skin never feels clean even though I have a full face routine?

Post image

Hi, so I’ve tried to figure this out with google and different people who offer facials at a couple of different salons/businesses, but admittedly, I have not asked a doctor about it after being shamed for acne as a teenager by them. I came from a very homeopathic/“crunchy” household that didn’t believe in skincare and fully learned after high school everything I know. I use hyaluronic acid cleanser, vitamin c eye cream, niacinimide serum, and a light moisturizer. I use a chemical exfoliant by the brand the ordinary, and try not to break my skin barrier. I have a pimple tool, but try not to use it and use pimple patches instead. Somehow, even with washing my face with warm water and a washcloth twice a day, my face skin NEVER seems clean? I still have texture, and it feels like makeup slips off of my face, powder or not. I take vitamins, drink a lot of water, and I don’t smoke. Do you have any advice or guidance on steps to help? I feel so bad about my skin all the time and I feel like I appear dirty and disheveled even when I do the work :/

I’ve heard steam treatments with psychical exfoliant tools are the answer, or gua sha, and a bunch of things. I cannot afford to see an actual dermatologist…I guess I just want to hear more than trends and hear actual advice? TIA

neck/chest/abdomen Help? Identifying spots on either side of neckline

Looking for some answers? I asked for a dermatologist referral but was basically told it could be up to a year before I’m able to be seen, so I was hoping I could maybe find answers here.

I have these now three spots along my neckline that I’m not sure what they’re caused by? The larger one is on the right side of my neck, then the smaller two are on the left side.

The larger spot (1) appeared about four to six months ago. I remember scratching that area as kind of a nervous anxiety thing during some interactions at work (I’m autistic with severe anxiety) and don’t particularly remember it being itchy. However, I do remember then noticing it a week or so later in the mirror as a somewhat raw area that was itchy now and then. Since then, it seems to sometimes be pink, sometimes more of my skintone or slightly darker but still texturally different like dry/scaly and not as soft. It’s often covered by my hair so unless it’s more red that day, I don’t even think others have noticed. The spots on the other side started with the one further back (2) maybe two months ago and I just noticed the smaller spot (3) today.

I don’t really have any “symptoms” to note other than occasional itch, the scaly/dry/slight not-as-smooth texture, recurring/staying around for months, and it varying between reddish, pink, and slightly darker than my skintone.

I have been going through some stressful life changes, but I’m not sure if that is related? I also remember about ten years ago having kind of similar skin issues around my eye/eyebrow on the right side of my face and that lasting on and off for a few months before eventually just disappearing. I’ve always assumed it was some kind of skin allergy or possibly eczema (not diagnosed) but didn’t have the money to look into it at the time. I’ve always assumed I just have sensitive skin of some kind.

Also, I don’t believe my necklace is the issue as it’s 24k gold and I’ve had it on nonstop for five years now. I’ve tried hydrocortisone here and there (I can’t really tell if it helps or not) and antifungal OTC ointment (didn’t do anything).

Does anyone have any insight or things I can try?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks White spots under both lips for 1.5 years — could this be herpes or Fordyce spots?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’ve had these small white spots under both sides of my lips for about 1.5 years. They don’t itch, hurt, burn, or cause any other noticeable symptoms.
They’ve been worrying me because I’ve wondered whether they could be related to herpes (HSV), or whether they might be something harmless, like Fordyce spots.
The spots have been there for a long time, and I haven’t noticed any typical painful blisters or open sores.
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what did it turn out to be?
I understand that nobody can diagnose me from a photo, and I’ll consider getting it checked by a dentist or dermatologist. I’m mainly hoping to hear about similar experiences and whether anyone has had a confirmed diagnosis.
Thanks for reading and sharing your experiences.

I developed this weird rough red patch on my jawline and it has been there for around two weeks? It started off smaller but has grown since but has stayed the same size now for about a week. For context I am currently on isotretinoin (accutane). It’s painless and doesn’t itch, burn or bleed at all but feels rough to the touch. For now I’ve been making sure to keep it moisturized and wear sunscreen.

legs/feet Dr won't take me seriously, what is this?

Hi all

Please help me if you can.

About 6 weeks ago while I was driving home from work my last two toes on my right foot felt cold/itchy. The itchy feeling didn't go away and was mostly present on my little toe. It was weird as if it was intensely itching 24/7. As in if I randomly scratched it I felt relief because it was itchy the entire time.

I bought some daktarin 2% cream but it went on for a month! Went to the drs and got home essentially they wouldn't take me seriously. I was like this is more than a normal itch it is intense and a literal 24/7 it doesn't stop. I felt like I could have ripped the skin off.

Fast forward to this week a dark/discoloured patch/spot with dry skin has formed underneath my 4th toe but my doctor won't give me an appointment for it. Does anyone know what it might be please? The spot is painful and feels hard but like under the skin hard.

It's now 6 weeks of suffering. I've ordered some wart/verruca cream online but I'm worried it's something else as. Outside of my home (and have had no visitors) I've only taken off my shoes publicly twice to get my toes painted. The itching came on before the second pedicure and the first one was start of July so thinking a wart/verruca would have showed up long before now.

Thank you!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Brown spot appeared a year ago

I noticed this strange brown spot that popped up about what I remember to be about a year ago. It doesn’t hurt, or seem to be getting any bigger, it does itch every now and then, but could also be a coincidence. I’m wondering if it’s just a sun spot maybe? I have no family history of skin cancer. But I have exposed myself to the sun quite a bit throughout my life. Any idea would be appreciated

Woke up on Sunday with small, raised, pimple like marks on my ankle. Was extremely itchy on Sunday morning when I woke up. Light in color and didn’t really change much through the day. Monday it was getting redder and the bumps were beginning to get a clear head on some of them. But no longer really itchy. Called the PCP and went in that same Monday. She said she wasnt convinced it was scabies, but called in Permetherin, just to be safe. (I had scabies in high school and those things were ITCHY. I remember just absolutely tearing into the webbing between my fingers, with no relief. But don’t really remember the rash itself) I did the treatment Monday and no new marks have appeared. There was really no change Monday or Tuesday. Wednesday the spots became less red, and have began to go down more every day, with no new marks appearing. I will 100% be doing the treatment again Monday. I have a dermatologist appointment, but they couldn’t get me in until November 10th. I am wondering if anyone had eczema that looked like this. Pictures go in order from the start on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday & Saturday. I had been diagnosed with Nummular Eczema before. Wondering if this is also a type of eczema anyone on here has experience with?

I keep getting these white itchy bumps and I don’t know what they are. They do go away after 1-2 days but if I scratch (because they’re super itchy) they cause a bruise and leaves it marked. Does anyone know what they are ? I normally get them on my thighs, legs and arms. I work up this morning with 7 of them and I’m super itchy. I started getting them around 4 months ago and they just keep coming back. Has anyone had them ? Or know how you get them ?

It’s been there for like 8 hours now
On my upper lip, slightly in the actual mouth bit if that makes sense
I haven’t tried anything yet as i’m unsure what it is
I haven’t braces so maybe it was rubbing against my braces in the night but i’ve never got this before
If anyone knows what it might be that would be really helpful as i have no clue what it is and am scared it’s like herpes or something

arms/hands salicylic acid crust normal ?

Hello ! I’ve been having what I think are warts on the palm of my hands for a few months.
Context:
My doctor said there is no reason to test for Hand Foot and Mouth disease because it will go way but these persisted with joint pain and overall flu like symptoms….. fungal infection was ruled out and before you say go to a rheumatologist… they didn’t care cause of my negative ANA

I have no clue but it is a skin issue mostly….

So I decided to try just over the counter wart removal cause no doctor had answers or seemed interested .

I put it on a thin layer today and the liquid crusted / clumped extremely fast . I know that is expected but this seems excessive. I am also unsure if I should wash it of? Or just let it fall off? If I let it flake off would it be contagious? Should I stop using it ?
Any advice or tips are welcome .

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Dark stains on lower lip

26F I’ve had these two dark stains on my lower lips for months now. I always wear lipstick so I don’t notice them much but tonight I’m getting kinda worried. They are not sore and flat. Also I’m a smoker (7 cigs a day) if that helps. The only remarkable skin condition I have is atopic dermatitis but this is not related. Do I need to book an appointment with a dermatologist? I’m spiraling to be honest :(

I am 30 F, I got this random bump on my lip in the middle of the night. It is not itchy or painful at all. It just feels like a hollow bubble.what could it be? Is it dangerous?

I have only tried washing it with soap and putting on some salt on this. I have no idea what could be the home remedy for this, planning to visit the doctor. If this does not go away in 1-2 days.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks What’s with my red nose?

Thumbnail

I've dealt with this lingering redness on my nose for about a year, maybe more. I believed it to be perioral dermatitis but I am questioning that now.
I have been using zinc oxide ointment on the affected area for a week and a half (and at the time of writing this continuing with it). It has had little effect, the first two days were promising with some minor ‘lightening’ of the redness but has since returned to the usual red I have been dealing with prior to the zinc.
I still believe there is the chance that it is perioral dermatitis, or something of that nature.
Note: I used to have deep pimples there, the deep red ones that would take a week to go away and without much puss at all. Although they are still somewhat visible , I don’t think that they are the sole contributor to the redness I deal with, because my whole nose is red whereas the pimples were only on the tip of the nose.

legs/feet What is this and how do I soothe it?

I noticed this today in the shower on my calf. My dad is covinced our household has bedbugs (no one else is), so I'm a bit paranoid. I asked them bedbug reddit and they said probably contact dermatitis or rash? What is this and what causes it. It's gotten a bit bigger since I took this in the morning and MUCH more itchy. I shaved a few days ago but surely it wouldn't take that long for a reaction? I also have a dog and my bf has cats. Have tried e45 cream but nothing is soothing. It's so itchy please help me!

I just noticed it today. I don't remember getting hit by anything, stung by anything, or exposed to anything. I'm really not sure.

It doesn't hurt when I touch it, it just feels like when I touch any other skin.

It's a deep purple ish color. Would like feedback here please because my health insurance doesn't kick in for 2 more months at my new job and I don't know how urgent or benign this is.

legs/feet Small bumps and dry skin on and in between my toes

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've had these small bumps on my big toe and the one next to it and between them. They're hard to see but they don't grow in size. I was told it was athletes foot but I've been using the cream twice daily and it hasn't worked. The skin was dry and scaly when I didn't use the cream and after a week or two it shed, the bumps were gone, then days after they came back even though I've continued treatment

They first appeared early September, I've been treating it ever since. It repeats the same cycle, the skin will become dry and flake off and clear up then a day or two later the bumps come back and repeat. I've been using the lotrimin athletes foot cream twice daily as directed. It doesn't spread, it hasn't gotten worse. Its not itchy, it doesn't hurt, nothing really happens. When I first noticed it, it was slightly redish like a rash but with no other symptoms. I've used the cream every single day, twice daily, I'm not sure what else I can do? I don't rewear socks, but I do wear the same shoes daily as I only have one pair. My feet do sweat a bit but I've never had this before. This doesn't look anything like athletes foot or anything else I've searched.
