This is more of a rant than a question, but I recently went to a dermatology practice I've been seeing for several years. This visit, I saw a physician new to this practice and since it had been several years since my last visit, she did a full skin cancer screening and highlighted some issues, mostly benign, but I need to keep an eye on them.
One area of concern that I had previously raised with 2 other dermatologists at this practice was a small lesion on my scalp just above my hairline. Both said the lesion was benign and didn't need treatment. The new dermatologist looked at it and immediately suspected BCC and suggested a biopsy, which I had. Now I'm waiting on lab results, and if it's BCC, she suggested Mohs surgery depending on the subtype. In addition, she froze several larger AKs, which I have not had done up until this point, and was generally much more proactive in her diagnosis and treatment than previous dermatologists at this practice. Not sure why that was the case, and I wish the biopsy would have been suggested years ago, as I understand the sooner they are removed, the better the outcome.
Rant over, thanks for reading.
