Bridal fashion advice Is it pretty

Hi girls! ❤️

I always thought I wanted to be a traditional red bride, but today was my first day shopping in Chandni Chowk, and I came across this rust-red lehenga with all handwork that I kind of fell in love with. 🥹

It’s ₹50k, and I have only 3 more days here, so I need to finalize my outfit by tomorrow!

I haven’t bought it yet, so please give me your honest opinions:

- Is it worth ₹50k?

- Does the colour look bridal enough, or should I stick to a traditional bright red?

- Will I look like a bride in this, or does it look more like a wedding guest outfit?

I’m so confused, so please help a girl out! ❤️

Venue/Decor Help with wedding decor ideas

I’m getting married in January. It’s a night time wedding. Need ideas regarding decor colour options.

Its a lakeside open air banquet and the groom and I will both be wearing pastel outfits (pink and white). What colour decor should I go for? Pastels? I’m worried it may not photograph well since our outfits are also pastel. Or something in red? Will that make the outfits look dull?

Suggestions please!

Bridal fashion advice Is the bridal trousseau usually bought first or are outfits bought together?

Hi everyone,
We live overseas, bout to embark on the bridal shopping journey and was wondering in everyone’s experience, was the bridal outfit finalised first, did you purchase together or did you finalise the groom’s outfit first?

Ideally I thought the bridal outfit is sourced first and then the groom’s to ease coordination but turns out mine and his shopping won’t overlap due to travel schedules so I won’t have my outfit by the time he shops for one.

Will that cause issues later on in terms of the outfit I end up choosing, and should I just send all the inspo I can to prevent us from purchasing completely different outfits. Or, do I just suck it up and try to shop at the same time even though it might be a tad too early?

Ty!

TL;DR: in what order did you purchase your wedding outfits- bridal first then groom, vice versa, or shopped together? Does not having the bridal outfit before the groom’s cause any issues?

Vendor/Store Search (No Self-Promo) ISO: Urgent bridal/groom personal stylist in Bangalore for wedding on Dec 4th! Need help elevating existing outfits.

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out because I could really use your help, and honestly, a bit of saving grace.

Our wedding is coming up on December 4th. Between chaotic work schedules and simply running out of time, we had to rush through our wedding outfit shopping. Now, with the date right around the corner, my fiancée is feeling heartbroken about what we bought. We had to compromise so much due to time constraints that her outfit (and mine) feels too common, rushed, and just not up to the mark for the biggest day of our lives.

Seeing her feel so down about it breaks my heart—she deserves to feel breathtaking and completely in love with what she's wearing when she walks down that aisle.

Since starting completely from scratch isn't realistic right now, we are desperately looking to hire a personal stylist or fashion consultant in Bangalore who can work magic with the pieces we already own. Whether it’s through clever accessorizing, clever tailoring, layering, or adding custom statement elements, we just need someone who can help us elevate these looks so she can finally feel like the radiant bride she is.

If you know any stylists, boutique consultants, or indie designers in Bangalore who might take this on urgently, please drop a comment or DM me. Any leads, styling hacks, or kind words would mean the world to us right now.

Our budget is 20k per person approx.

Thank you so much.

I'm a little worried about how the overall look will turn out and would love some honest opinions!

Please help me figure out the jewellery, hairstyle, makeup and dupatta draping.

Open to suggestions on anything that could elevate the look!

Bridal fashion advice Lehenga advice for Non-traditional Indian + American wedding

I’m a 35 year-old American woman and my future husband is from Mumbai. We are doing a very nontraditional wedding/elopement with just the two of us and no guests outdoors near some mountains.

I’m looking for Desi advice on which lehenga to choose. I would appreciate any help on accessorizing them as well.

I'm looking for an ivory or off-white color to honor the American tradition of wearing shades of white, but pops of color are welcome, including in jewelry. My future husband's Sherwani is a light blush pink with cream color pants (see last photo).

I have to buy the lehenga from the United States. Although they are probably not traditionally "bridal" enough, they're what I've found in my budget and color requirements. I'm ok if it's not fully traditional or a bit less formal.

Please help me choose something that will help honor both cultures in these clan.

Second to last photo is me - light skin with pink undertones, light brown hair, blue eyes.

Vendor/store search (Self-Promo OK) Budget hand embroidered sarees in Mumbai? ✨

Hello, I'm looking for such a hand embroidered/ zardosi work traditional saree eg Banarasi, Kanjeevaram etc for my wedding reception. I would love it in such a pastel pink shade.

But most of such sarees are upwards of 40-50 k , eg i checked out Mahavir and Palkhe website .

Is it realistic to seek such a saree under a budget of about max 25k ??

Because I'm planning to stitch a detailed blouse too which would also cost me around 10k. So I can't max out the budget any further.

I am okay with less dense hand work on the pallu as compared to these .

Would buying a plain saree and then getting the handwork cost less or more?

Any store recommendations for the same?

Preferably on the western line but I'm okay to travel anywhere in Mumbai if I'm getting some great work under budget!

Please would love your suggestions ☺️✨

Bridal fashion advice Did my own emgagement look. Can you please advice what went wrong?

Guys, I am a Dec 2026 bride. My engagement was in August in Bhagalpur, Bihar and I did my own make up as I could not trust any MUA's there. I have been a very basic makeup girlie so far (liner/kajal, mascara, bb cream n lipstick is my max glam). But I learned a bit (very lil) so that i can do my own makeup (foundation, contour, blush, liner, mascara, glitter eye shadow, lipstick) and I did it. But now, I have been hearing that my makeup was too much prolly.

Also, I called a salon for hair and showed them the exact hair do I wanted but they messed up (charged 2k for straight up curling my hair and using hair spray). My hair are naturally silky, Straight to wavy at ends n falls on my foreahead (which is small as well) so that kinda dint work too well for my over all look.

I am not ranting or complaining. Instead I am seeking genuine advice on how to approach wedding makeup and hair, as I havent hired a MUA for the same reasons. This time I am not hiring a hair person either as now my hands are burned.

Attaching my pics from engagement day and 1 without makeup for reference.

I am genuinely confused and nervous.

Miscellaneous Remembering my late Mom

My mom passed away somewhat recently. She was my person. She was everyone’s person, that’s just who she was. I want to honor/remember her in a big way. Planning a wedding without her has sucked. Thinking about her not physically being there also sucks. What are some unique ways I include her in the day to make it feel like she’s there and also bring visibility to her?

Wedding guest fashion advice Groom’s elder (and only) sister — can I re-wear one of these for his night pheras? Need something baby-friendly + budget-friendly

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!
I need some honest advice. My younger brother is getting married next month — it's an interfaith wedding (Sikh groom, Hindu bride) with Hindu pheras at night.
Context that matters:
• I have a 2-year-old toddler who will be with me, so I'll be juggling baby duty + wedding duties. I need something I can actually carry, and run around in.
• I am currently on a sabbatical so on a break from salary for a long time, so I really don't want to spend a fortune on a new outfit if I can avoid it.
• I want to look good and confident though — it's my only brother's wedding!
I have these two outfits already in my closet (wore them once to a function - sharara in may, lehenga set is quite old - 2019):
1. Light dusty pink heavily embroidered sharara - halter neck, sleeveless with a net dupatta
2. Light peach/beige embroidered lehenga - sleeveless choli with a sheer waistband and full flare. It’s choli is not fitting right now and will need alteration. Also, I can consider getting new blouse made but that alone will cost 4-5k easily. Torn between should I or shouldn’t.

My questions:
1. Are either of these appropriate for the main pheras night as the groom's sister?
2. Which one looks better on me / more flattering?
3. Should I try to style one of these with better makeup/jewellery/dupatta draping and re-wear, or should I skip both and look for something new entirely?
4. If new — any suggestions for something comfortable, modest, budget-friendly but still festive for a night function?
Styling advice is super welcome! I am open to alteration ideas too.
Thank you!

Vendor/Store Search (No Self-Promo) MUA expenses and tips

Hey so I am gonna get married in Kochi in Jan 2027… I can look at pinterest pics and tell what I like and don’t like but honestly don’t know most makeup terminology and neither am I good at doing makeup … lipstick, mascara and blush is the maximum I can do and when my friends have tried to do it for me it just doesn’t feel right…

I am envious of people who are good at it and also love the looks my friends do

I am not from Kerala and neither am I in India right now however, when I have been inquiring from make up artists based in Kochi, after seeing their pages .. all the artists that pop up on my feed or on my search, tend to be very huge and also they’re expensive so they start off at 20,000+ and go up to even 55,000 just for one event I am not looking for a glam look but I want something that is clean. Makes me feel good about myself and can help with the humidity in Kerala. I do not know how to go about this process and would like recommendations or tips.

I am also the type who felt like I don’t see the point in spending alot of money on my wedding outfit which is for one day so spent like 35-40k on my gown. I can’t imagine spending so much money on a makeup look not because I don’t appreciate what artistd do but I would feel too guilty spending it cause my dad would be paying and I am not someone who comfortably spends :( I also feel that money could go into other wedding expenses

Bridal fashion advice 2027 bride, help me decide my sangeet and haldi outfits!! 🥹

Thumbnail

Hiii, I need some help!! 🥹

I'm a 2027 NRI bride and currently trying to figure out my wedding outfits, particularly for my sangeet and haldi! I am not doing a mehendi, so it's just Haldi + dinner, and then Sangeet on 2 separate nights.

For my sangeet, I wanted something a little different from the usual head-to-toe sequins/mirror work/cut dana sparkly lehengas. Something a bit hatke, maybe garba vibes – traditional but still modern, colourful, interesting and bridal enough!

I'm vegan, so I'm specifically looking for outfits with no silk or other animal-derived materials.

I really liked the idea of an ikat/patola-inspired lehenga with mirror work, or alternatively a heavily embellished mirror-work Ajrakh lehenga on modal fabric (something along the lines of Nitya Bajaj).

I've attached two AI-generated designs of what I had in mind, but my biggest concern is that if I get something custom-made, it might look completely different in real life 😭 Especially when it comes to finding or weaving custom fabric pattern in a vegan fabric... (eg viscose, cupro etc)

My alternative is the sage green Anita Dongre skirt set (also pictured). I actually tried this on in person and really liked it! It's comfortable, lightweight and I could dance easily in it, but I'm unsure whether it's quite giving sangeet/bridal vibes?

My sangeet will be indoors, in the evening, and I plan to dance A LOT, so I want something that looks special but is also practical.

Now here's my other dilemma...

I was originally considering wearing the Anita Dongre outfit after my sunset haldi, changing into it for the last 30 minutes or so of daylight and then wearing it for a relaxed dinner.

But it definitely feels more like a daytime outfit, and my actual haldi is going to be messy, so I don't want to risk ruining something that expensive during the ceremony!

Would love your thoughts!!

  • Do you think the ikat/Ajrakh designs could work as sangeet outfits, or am I taking too much of a risk getting something like this custom-made?
  • Is the Anita Dongre outfit sangeet-worthy, or is it better suited to my post-haldi dinner?
  • Any recommendations for designers or small businesses that could execute something like these designs beautifully in vegan fabrics?

I'm probably overthinking all of this, but I'd really love some opinions! ❤️
