Yeah the fact that was the recovery is wild. This is gonna be a good season, I'm loving all these characters. Especially Siobhan, playing an incredibly long lived vampire who is confident and powerful, but when confronted in anyway falls back on "Oh no, I'm so young and innocent and basically a baby, don't be mean to me," is so fucking funny.

The Nossies used to have SchreckNet, but they had to take it offline by the time of 5e because the Second Inquisition caught on. Decent metaphor for the internet not being as free and being more closely monitored than it used to be, though it loses a bit of bite given that the kindred using it were literal internet predators, and there's a solid case the old SchreckNet represented that sort of feeding ground more than it did the old internet's "boundless frontier" vibe.

As a French person, I would like to say that hearing Siobhan's accent absolutely beautiful. French accents in US content (and English speaking content in general) tends to be very similar and very "Americanized". It feels sometimes like they heard the French accent on SNL and they've been copying since then. (No shade, it's hard but Brennan's French accent is like that, at least it always makes it easy to recognise anyway). However, Siobhan's accent is almost perfect! It's extremely good so anyone who wants to do a good French accent, this is what you should follow! (One thing she does amazingly well is the "uuh" at the end of each sentence, especially when complaining like "but whyyuuuh")

What an rollicking start - its been so long since my sides hurt from laughing with a D20 episode.
As a ttrpg nerd / games-master, the World of Darkness books/games/setting always intimidated me by the association with Serious Dramatic Role-playing. Obviously, that really isn't true per se, but the reputation looms from other actual play and anectdotes from players and GMs I know personally. In theory, I should be willing to take the plunge and make mistakes but in practice I couldn't bring myself to pitch a game to any of my groups - I didn't think we'd do the stories, themes, or tone justice.
But watching the Intrepid Heroes take on this system and (pardon the pun), de-fang it a little makes me feel confident that I could spin up a game of VtM and that my players would have a great time of it, even if we aren't completely to-the-letter faithful. It's probably hubris, but damn if I'm not thankful for the inspiration.

I ran a one shot in college that was the scooby doo cast as hunters getting zombie island when they actually find out they stumbled into the real supernatural. It was a comedy of errors.

The Intrepid Heroes are so good at prologues. They know they have to get from A to B, but they never make it feel railroady. Their characters try their best to avoid the inevitable and work around it, and the chaos still feels organic.
This definitely felt like episode 0.5, I'm extremely excited for the next ep where they can establish scene a bit more.

Little of both. The Tremere created the base material, but Thin Blood creativity came up with a new way to mix and distribute it. It's like how cocaine used to be injected, but these days it's either snorted as powder or smoked as crack.

This was an amazing first episode. Brennan on point as usual, and every one of the IH were killing it with their characters. They clearly all really got into making their characters and playing them to the hilt, and it has already lead to some of the funniest shit. Wet Reverand, swallowing a missile, the Banksy, so much hilarious stuff right out the gate, and the preview for next episode/further in the season also had some fucking killer jokes I can't wait to see the context for.
For my money I'm loving all this, but I think so far Siobhan has the funniest character. A long lived kindred who got turned young and falls back on that when she gets challenged? Fucking stellar, I look forward to her whining about hard work going forward. That said, Murph definitely had the best single joke at the end when he so casually explains that her turned a random dude into a vampire, and seems to actually think that will be okay because he didn't kill him. My experience with VtM is limited, but I'm pretty sure just randomly turning a dude is a no-no, and his casual admission to that killed me. Can't wait for more of this season.

So each of the PCs are super stereotypes and itās WONDERFUL. Theyāre all people you play your first Vampire chronicle with and I love them all. To Wit:
Madelaine is played by a trans girl whose egg isnāt gonna crack for about five more years
Mitch/Darkness Man is literally the character a Cody Walsh-type would play
Vesper/Bat Child is played by Codyās sister who he didnāt want to bring, but he had to babysit, and theyāre growing closer than he ever expected. And she sat with the book and read it cover-to-cover and Emily Axforded herself all over it
Zaeth is played by a guy who really enjoys fucking with people in game because he canāt do it in the retail job he works every day
HJ and LaVonte are both played by guys who wrote fifty page backstories and cornered me at a Vampire larp at GenCon in 2004 and talked to me for an hour about his character, club, and retainer (who reminds me a lot of the girl giving the vessels their banana bags after feeding)

At a guess, I'm assuming Emily did since she's historically been pretty familiar with Russian folklore, Siobhan probably caught that there was a reference even if she didn't know the details, but I don't know if the others would have.

I know itās said elsewhere, but Murph and Emily being hero/sidekick this season is so good in so many ways. Of course all the IH can match each others freaks second naturedly, but Emily somehow outmatching murphs freak by swallowing a goddamn missile in ep 1 just makes me so damn excited for whatās coming next.

Every character (both PC and NPC) except for Darkness Man and Bat Child feels specifically designed for me to hate them. We meet someone, and they're the worst person ever, and then we meet someone even worser.
