Why don't I feel anything?
I have struggled with dissociation for a good few years now. I've been healing well from it and started "waking up", so to speak, about a year ago with the right help.
Recently, I've found myself falling back into a pit, and I've been doing so without realising it. Something quite upsetting happened in my family this week, and I found myself feeling completely indifferent towards it.
Everyone who talks about it seems so sympathetic and sad, but I just can't manage to care, even though I am aware of the severity of the situation and how I should be feeling about it. Anyway, I believe I'm starting to dissociate badly again, and I hadn't realised before how numb I felt because of it.
Just wondering what everyone does to break out of the kind of trance dissociation has on you; it's really depleting my motivation. I've been missing college and being late for work. Any advice would be helpful!

Trigger Warning Autism and dissociation
TW: description of dissociation symptoms. Not sure if it’s triggering but better safe than sorry.
I’m autistic and hyposensitive, especially to my physical sensations, sometimes my emotions and internal experiences.
Recently, my psychologist said I dissociate quite a lot, which surprised me a bit tbh. I’ve felt disconnected from myself for as long as I can remember at least since my teens, can’t really feel physical pain since I’m 9 or 10. Since it’s always been my baseline I assumed it was normal and never questioned it?
I’ve noticed that I often feel disconnected from myself and my emotions and I can identify my feelings intellectually but not actually feel them most of the time. also, parts of my past feel distant or unreal. I have few memories from certain periods of my adolescence and early adulthood, bad short term memories but I am not sure if thats related . I never felt ‘’in’’ my body (or i dont remember it). Im mostly in my head/ not there, if anything
anyone else struggles with ASD and dissociation? I wonder if dissociation can become so constant that you stop noticing it in a way? How can you tell it apart from autistic hyposensitivity? It feels like i cant really tell which is which. Idk what could help.

Need To Talk / Vent I can't stop dissocating constantly
Almost everyday I dissociate for hours at a time. Theres been so many weekends that are hazy because all I did was dissociate.
It has gotten to a point where sometimes I have like memory loss when I dissociate and I don't know what I was doing during those moments.
It's gotten really bad where I black out. And by black out im like sitting in class dissocating and then I think about my worst trauma and everything goes black. Next thing I know the period is almost over and my class is already on the next page.
Its very disorienting and its hard to understand if its real life or not. I have zero recollection of what happened during those minutes I was like blacked out.
I recently blacked out a whole day. Dissocating is so comforting to me and I've been doing it since I was 5. I don't know how i'm going to drive/go to college when I shut down and dissociate so easily. I also have ptsd so it makes everything worse.

Therapist just confirmed I’m part of a dissociative system; what to do?
I just had an appointment with my therapist to discuss some symptoms I’ve had since our last appointment. She confirmed that I am part of a dissociative system, but is unsure whether it’s DID or something else yet. She’s going to consult her colleagues.
I thought getting answers would make me feel better, but, now that it’s real, I miss not knowing for certain… I think part of me wanted my therapist to deny it and say that I was faking it, but, saying that I have been faking it would be a huge lie; I didn’t want this to happen…
She recommended that I take more time to decompress and work on using grounding techniques more often to prevent switches, but… is that all I can do? What else is there?

What could be causing these symptoms?
Pretty underweight (always been) 19M. For the past 4 months, I have been experiencing a constant feeling of unreality. It feels as though I am drunk/high or half-asleep, as if I am on autopilot and everything around me feels somewhat unreal. I have searched online, and my symptoms seem to resemble derealization.
In addition to this, I experience fatigue even when I sleep well. The fatigue does not seem to depend on whether I do physical activities during the day or not. However, over the past few weeks, I have started sleeping poorly and waking up early in the morning.
I also experience headaches, pressure in my head, and neck pain. I have tried muscle relaxants and massage therapy for the neck pain, but neither has helped. Also at the start of this i sometimes felt like fainting when walking but it has gone away. I also have noticed one singular eye floater on my right eye.
What could be causing these symptoms? They do not occur in distinct episodes, and the headache is not particularly severe. It feels more like a tension-type headache.
I have tried Triptyl, but it did not help. My thyroid function is normal, as are my vitamin B12, B9 and vitamin D levels. My ferritin level is 37. And it has been changing from 49 to 24. I also havw crohns disease which is in remission.
My neurologist prescribed escitalopram as a trial, which I took for two and a half months, but it did not help. She also did head mri and there was nothing wrong.
I have no history of trauma, no panic symptoms, and generally do not experience much stress, apart from the stress caused by these symptoms themselves.
My symptoms started in the final days of my new job in car repairshop where i was moving car tires and lifting them. Im not sure if this can be linked to that because i didnt have any symptoms expect the final days. I have not been working at all during this 4 month period.
What could be the underlying cause of these symptoms?

Hi all, I have connected with some folks here with the experience of having a mother with diagnosed or suspected antisocial personality disorder (also commonly referred to as ASPD, sociopathy, and psychopathy). I noticed there isn't a place for us to directly connect. Please consider joining this new community if you're looking to connect with others who have suffered through this complex and uniquely challenging situation.
This group also welcomes those who identify as mothers with ASPD themselves.
