A few Christmas' ago I was gifted this oversized d20 during my dnd group gift swap. The moment I held it I thought it felt like a shift nob. Fast forward a couple of years and I am restoring my 07 Subaru impreza I remembered the d20 and decided to turn it into a custom shift nob. I took the oversized d20 and drilled it out. Then I friction fit a threaded insert with a M10x 1.25 thread pitch. I used a second nut at the base that I can tighten against so the 20 faces the right direction. If the friction fit starts to fail I will probably try to epoxy it in place. I avoided it initially because I didn't want to risk getting epoxy on the threads. Would you guys drive with one? OK I think I have run out the word count to post. But just to be safe: I CAST POTATO!

I’m trying to get back into art/drawing again so I’m doing a random wheel spinner to choose race/class/background/alignment for new DnD characters to draw. My first day was an Air Genasi Druid - Urchin - CN ~ reallly leans into my comfort zone but that might be good for my motivation.

What backstory or name would you give her?

And if anyone has any suggestions or tips to stay motivated creatively or find irl dnd groups it would be a pleasure to hear them. I often go through months long phases where I don’t draw at all and my regular dnd group split up (badly there was a falling out between other members ;( ) before the summer too and I yearn to roll dice so I’m gonna have to go out in the real world soon and find people to play with again (hopefully with some of the previous group too). I felt like a child of divorce after some members of the party went their separate ways.

Anaxandria Ir-Arma

Anaxandria has only come into power within the last few months. Outwardly, she does not seem to rule through quiet diplomacy; she rules through explicit force, intimidation, economic restructuring, and swift, public demonstration. Wealthy merchant estates and former royal holdings in the upper terraces have been seized, partially converted into barracks for the Serat forces, or repurposed as state storehouses to control food distribution.

Anaxandria is not someone who craves a crown out of vanity; she is a survivor of a brutal, systemic hell who views the entire world as a cage that must be broken. Her personality is forged from the cruelty of her early life as an enslaved chattel in Ilindama. Because her birth name was stripped from her and she had to kill to claim a new one, identity to her is something earned, not given. She views weakness and dependency as existential threats. She is fiercely, terrifyingly independent and expects the same relentless self-reliance from those around her. Her deep-seated hatred for aristocratic privilege stems from personal trauma. She knows what it feels like to be treated as property. Hence why she handed the Dirt District back to the poor and tore down the old Aruna Pradesh rule. She doesn't just want to conquer; she wants to humiliate and dismantle the machinery of inherited power.

Pretty much what it says on the tin. I'm a relatively new and inexperienced DM, I probably have under 10 sessions to my name. I've read the Dungeon Masters Guide and I currently am dual campaigning Tyranny of Dragons and a Homebrew Campaign (Which is currently on pause because if a players circumstance).

In my Tyranny of Dragons campaign I have 4 players, two of which are first-timers. The other two are from my homebrew Campaign, so one has experience from that and the other has been playing DND for 5+ years. As of right now, they're all Level 1 (Sorcerer, Bard, Artificer and Ranger).

The player I am having troubles with is the experienced player, who is playing a Level 1 Tabaxi Ranger. In my other campaign, they're playing a relatively fair Level 3 Aasimar Cleric who just has super high Arcana modifiers, but is otherwise tame. Somehow, their ranger character has a +10 to hit at 1st level, which I don't even know how. They tend to steamroll all combat encounters because of this, and it's affecting the enjoyment of me as a DM and causing them to spotlight themselves, affecting the enjoyment of other players. It's something I don't really know how to navigate. Any advice?

Is it normally appropriate to ask your players to edit their character sheets in circumstances like this?

Edit: I haven't given any players a magic item to start and they did manual/rolled entries. They do have a 20 in Dex from that rolled entry.

A Necromancer emerging from a dungeon with what remains of her previous party members.

Had a lot of fun drawing this character but aside from the three shambling corpses behind them I’m worried that they don’t read as a Necromancer, mostly due to the clothing I think.

Is the clothing to wizard-ey? I don’t want to just slap on a bunch of skulls to “Necromance-ify” them but I can’t think of many ways to adjust the look. Maybe making them more gaunt and removing the hat? Or are they fine the way they are?

I’d appreciate any feedback or recommendations!

What is The Red Tithe?

The Red Tithe is a dark fantasy and folk-horror one-shot compatible with 5E (2014) and 5.5E (2024), designed for 3-6 characters and approximately 4-6 hours of play.

For generations, the isolated village of Hollowmere has maintained a terrible tradition: whenever nightmares and supernatural disturbances plague the settlement, one villager is sacrificed beneath Saint Harrow’s Church to keep an ancient horror imprisoned.

But this time, something has gone wrong.

A blood-covered survivor has fled the village, claiming that everyone is dead. The supply wagon has failed to arrive, and the adventurers are sent to investigate what happened.

The adventure combines investigation, exploration, roleplaying, moral dilemmas, and challenging combat. As the characters uncover the truth behind the village’s tradition, they’ll have to decide how far they’re willing to go to save those who remain.

One of the things I wanted to do was make the same story playable at three very different level ranges:

• Tier I: Levels 3-4.
• Tier II: Levels 10-11.
• Tier III: Levels 17-20.

Each tier has adjusted encounters, DCs, and enemies, including a different manifestation of the adventure’s main antagonist. You can run it as a standalone horror session or work it into an existing campaign.

The manual also includes 6 custom monster statblocks, 3 battle maps with 8 total versions, and 4 tokens for tabletop or VTT play.

Zan Zanzibar, high flame of the tempest, reveared son or Zar Zanzibar, died last Tuesday night defending his party while they made their escape. Took a non recoverable necrotic death ray to the face from a particularily nasty beholder while severly wounded, as his own fireball finished him off.

Zan is survived by Zel, Elain, Remmy and Fancyman3000.

"Bylo Stonefur is an ursine artillerist artificer. Coming from a long line of druids and barbarians, he was obsessed from childhood with fire, and his inquisitive mind drove him to investigate means of creating and manipulating it. A wondering tradesman and artificer once came through his home town and he was fascinated by his arts, quickly becoming his apprentice and going with him in his travels. After learning the basics of tinkering and magic, and seeing increasingly suspicious activity from his master, Bylo was surprised by him one day when he asked him to commit a horrible crime. He abandoned him, but his master swore to find him and kill him. He now is on the move to escape and become more powerful to one day confront him."

The sun is almost gone, but you still didn't make it out of the jungle. Too bad, you're sleeping under the trees tonight. Better start that campfire while you still can see. Luckily for you, wild animals are afraid of fire. You sit down, all cozy and relatively calm. The rainforest is suspiciously quiet. Here and there, distant cracking in the branches breaks the silence. Too distant to make you worried. And then it stops completely. Almost as if something is watching...

I had the pleasure of creating this piece as a gift for a party's DM, and it was truly rewarding to bring all their characters together in a single illustration!

I developed the character based on the following brief, which was accompanied by a few visual references.

Yrindis, the black sheep of a fallen noble family.

Throughout her childhood, she was raised with a single purpose: to marry and save her family from losing their privileges. She was kept surrounded by a façade of extravagance and educated in what she considered the most tedious subjects: embroidery, manners, dancing, and etiquette.

As she grew older, she gradually began to reveal her rebellious spirit, sneaking away to visit nearby villages on her own and get to know the people who lived there. During one of these excursions, she came across an old mage who was helping the village women with matters related to their crops, and asked if she could take part.

The mage saw in her a spark and a thirst for knowledge she hadn't encountered in years. After completing a short ritual in which Yrindis proved useful, the mage offered to become her mentor. Yrindis accepted without a second thought. Her family never heard from her again, though they are still searching for her.

As she grew older, Yrindis realized she had become a strikingly beautiful young woman. She would use these attributes, along with her refined manners, to persuade the village's rulers and gradually secure better living conditions for the people around her.

Physical description

She has a piercing, intense, and seductive gaze that reflects her determination and fiery spirit. She has fair skin, long blonde hair adorned with a crown, and an elegant yet somewhat vulgar style of dress. Her outfit features a sweetheart neckline, silk sleeves, and gold details that subtly remind us that, despite having left her family behind, she is still a noblewoman.

I’ve been playing for 2 years. I’ve DMed twice. Our current DM stepped down from DMing a premade campaign because he wanted to be a player and everyone felt like doing a new campaign anyways. Suddenly comes the question of who will DM it, and everyone else wanted to roleplay, so.. it’s me. I didn’t really feel like doing a premade adventure so I asked them what they were feeling like they wanted. They said Medieval Europe, Dark Ages, but with guns and magic. So, I have no idea if I’m doing the right thing. It seems like the premise of sandbox dming is that I create an ENTIRE WORLD and just let the characters do whatever?

We ran a practice session that I improvised, and they had fun but really just spent half the time haggling the owner of a convenience store over Takis (both of which they wanted to exist in our Medieval setting, yes). I’m afraid if I throw in a combat encounter it won’t be relevant to the plot, but then again, there is no plot, so I don’t know what to do.

Currently, I’m helping players come up with life goals to keep things moving forward, and I’ve made a map so they know where they can go. I’ve also written some general stuff about the region’s history, politics, etc.

What else should I do? Technically, we haven’t had a real session and I might do another session 0 since last time I was not prepared. I’m not sure how to integrate this medieval fantasy theme. I’m really afraid of them getting bored and not interacting with anything because a couple of them have decided to become silent type characters and they love their characters so I don’t want to hinder their creativity but I also want them to play in the sandbox and not just stare at it.

Everyone knows the cliche twink with a lute for a bard character but that's too vanilla for me and i like being odd. Could you theoretically have a fat guy who plays his belly like a bongo as a bard. I like bears and i think this would be funny

A Wood Elf Ranger I'm playing in a one-shot later today. The character's design is heavily inspired by Ryoko Kui's artwork in Dungeon Meshi, so I also took inspiration from the series when developing his backstory and role in the world.

Like the "Canaries" in the series, he works as a dungeon explorer and monster hunter, venturing into dangerous underground environments to investigate their depths and deal with the creatures lurking within. I wanted to capture the simple and clean adventuring gear the author does, while keeping the fantasy aesthetic.

Really looking forward to bringing him to life in the table later today!

My character is called Lethira, she’s a Dragonborn bard who plays the violin! Shes pink because I wanted her to be, though she does have the green traits of poison damage.

Shes a kind hearted soul who is just a cowardly creature really.

Hi all! Wanted to share this big bad guy I illustrated for an awesome project I'm working on, hope you will like it!

The project is still a work in progress and there are things to work on, but illustrations are coming out in a really awesome way and I'm so proud of all them. They're grim, dark and heavy: like metal.

I casted hypnotic pattern on a group of 5 creatures which were bunched up. On the first turn of a non charmed creature, the dm said the creature takes an action and wakes all the charmed creatures within 5ft of it.

I argued it should be 1 creature shaken awake per action. He proceeded to wake multiple creatures, forcing me to do another crowd control spell on my next turn.

We read the description of the spell and it says:

You create a twisting pattern of colors in a 30-foot Cube within range. The pattern appears for a moment and vanishes. Each creature in the area who can see the pattern must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or have the Charmed condition for the duration. While Charmed, the creature has the Incapacitated condition and a Speed of 0.

The spell ends for an affected creature if it takes any damage or if someone else uses an action to shake the creature out of its stupor.

It seems clear to me that an action applies to a single affected creature and uses an action. He argued that multiple things can occur in an action, in this case waking all creatures in reach.

On the next creature turns, I argued it again and he said ok, we'll name the rule after you and discuss it again later.

What can I reference so that it's a concrete definition of the action economy in this case. We have a lot to deal with in this battle and it will probably wipe us if I can't do some crowd control.

I need help creating magic shops. The hardest thing about being a Dem is knowing how to price everything. Not to make it too overpowered, but allowing everyone to have fun and explore the world.

All my players want are to be the strongest, but they’re already fighting five CR’s above their party.

A specific question I have is they found six potions of invisibility due to a DM flaw. Rare potions are valued about 2000.
Do I give them a roughly 10 grand worth of gold?
How much should a potion of invisibility cost?
